She's a cutie for sure. As long as she was really basically giving her away, definitely a rescue. More photos and updates are required.

As far as I'm concerned, in this instance, you supported rescue.
Aw thanks, she is such a cutie and a sweetheart. Oh and I forgot to add, either they did their own tail docking or they took her to the worst vet ever. Her poor tail was docked so short it's just a nub. The vet I took her to agreed it was a bad dock job. Ugh!

I will definitely take lots of pics and try to update regularly.

I'm taking her to Dr. Douglas in British Columbia tomorrow morning. He's gotten such rave reviews here and I've seen the pics of the dobies he's done from members here. It's a bit of a drive, but if I can get the best for her I will do all that I can to make sure it happens. Ear cropping is an art and she's had such a horrible start in life with her eye and her poor nub it's the least I can do for her.

I did get her papers, they even tried to sell me the breeding rights for her and I said she would ABSOLUTELY NEVER be bred and would be spayed as soon as she's old enough. They looked at me like, "why would you do that?" I got out of there as soon as I could.

Thank you im happy you told them to screw off about the breeding rights! They are very ignorant people. Its very sad. I'm so happy that your taking her to the best place you can find. Its not just once that you have to make that drive though, which is what we found out. We had to drive two hours to get Xavier's surgery. When we were leaving the doc told us he needed him back in 3 days then back again in 7 days and then every three weeks to re wrap his ears ummmm that sounded like alot of driveing! We decided to get the rest of his care done closer, its soo much nicer!
We should have done more homework before his surgery! It was hard even finding a vet who does cropping. should ave asked people on here ugh!

I just dropped her off this morning and am making the trip back up tomorrow to pick her up. The drive wasn't too bad, roughly 3 hours. She and the rest of the kids slept the whole way there. Lucky for me, the kids had today off from school as it was Teachers workshop. That was the biggest concern with Border Patrol going into and leaving Canada. They all wondered why the kids weren't in school today. haha

Yes we will have to drive back up to get her stitches out, but luckily I got in contact with a great Vet that is also a member here so I can take her post care and any other Vet care to her from now on.

Hope Xavier is resting comfortably and everything smoothly. Don't forget to post pics of him!!

Hey, there are four things I forgot to say yesterday and no one has come on to let you know...I was hoping they would.

First off be sure to buy the fish packed in waternot oil.

Second, I would feed her the fish first and then pour in the kibble immediately. She is gonna have fish breath but if you add to kibble or give it last it is going to be bad fish breath. If she eats something else after the fish it helps quiet a bit.

Third, in case I didn't mention it once you put her on a fish based kibble you don't have to add the fish/give her fish oil as long as it is a good quality kibble.

Fourth...she is darling, very cute and already settled right in.

Thanks Alicia, I can only hope to give her the life that she so deserves. I already miss her so much, I never thought a dog could affect me like she does. I'm not usually the sappy type. She went this morning to get her ears cropped and is staying overnight. We get to pick her up tomorrow, yay! Is it so weird that I have such strong feelings even though we just got her on Tues night? The house seems so empty without her even though my human kids are running around it really seems like the house is empty or something is missing without her here.
