Don't eat that, that's a <insert noun here> (rock, stick, twig, flower, weed, grass, etc.)

What's that smell?

She was here just a second ago...

What did I just step in?

Dang it, those teeth are sharp!

Honey, what happened to my burger and fries? I just set them down there a minute ago and went to the kitchen to get a drink...

Well lets see.
As I recall when we brought Hoss home from the breeder I was advised by a dog trainer to bring a crate when we picked up the puppy. Trainer stressed crate training must start from the very beginning of accepting the pup. So we were travel from Tampa to Gainesville to get our pup. Several hours drive. We borrowed a crate from a girl at work. It was small but I thought the pup would fit in there just fine till we got home.
Once we got to the breeders she gave us our first lesson on ear posting. As we were loading up the truck I took the crate out. The breeder laughed at me and said there is no way that puppy will go into that crate. It is to small. She was right darn ear tubes would not even go thru the door.
Breeder looked at me and laughed with a follow up “told you so” and laughed.
The Breeder Susan Voltz picked Hoss up .....gave him a great big hug....looked him in the eyes and said “ Now you go be a great dog” she placed Hoss in my lap for the ride home. We stopped at a rest stop so he could pee and it was amazing to watch him explore and sniff.
When we got him home off the the back yard we went as the yard was all freshly landscaped for him. Layer new sod. Established potty areas. All set up...Hoss did not seem impressed all he wanted to do was pick up rocks!!!! NO!!!!! No!!!!!!
Layed out all of his brand new toys on his new dog bed. All he wanted to do was drag the small dog bed around. Not interested in the toys.
Now his bed.....and rocks.
He ate so fast the only way I could get him to slow the speed to “warp” was to take his food and just throw it on our front porch wooden floors.
Thus he obtained the nickname of “You little glutton”.
As time went by his favorite toy was this long thick towing rope of Scotts.
Had to be 20 feet long when we first gave it to him .....Hoss dragged that all around outside. Loved to play with it more than anything. As time went by we would cut off the loose ends on the rope. Much shorted when we finally threw that rope away.
I must say the first two weeks were the toughest because I really believe Hoss missed the life that he knew.....littermates, Mom, etc.
So we hired a nanny for Hoss. A woman that lives across the street would come over everyday and hang out with Hoss. She would sit with him under the oak trees and read to him when he would whine.
Oh my heart would just melt when Hoss would howl to his people.
But after several months I was exhausted with all the potty breaks at night. After some time he grew up and now he is approaching 5 years this December.
Now his new nickname is “You big Heathen”. He smiles when I say that !

Ahhhhh...some make my pic bigger!! Please.

This 1000% lol

Drop it!

Leave it!

Where are you?!

I thought you took him out to pee!

Please stop crying in your crate

Please go to sleep

How did you get out of your crate? Again!?

Omg Doc I could go on and on lol since I'm still saying some of those things!

We also always called him Coco at first. Everyone did. Friends, family, our vet. I still slip once in awhile. My husband slips all the time.

Now more often I say "you are mama's sweet boy" :x

You must be so excited Doc and Mrs. Doc. I'm excited for you but also giggling a little for the fun that is soon to begin!

What have you got in your mouth? AGGGGGH--what was that?

Leave the cats alone!

No! Your dinner is in the crate...

Is that your leash?

No--you can't get on the couch--here, I'll sit on your bed with you...

Leave the cats alone!

I know it's raining--lets go out anyway...

Leave the cats alone...

OWWW! Don't bite!

AWWWWWW--so cute (to the sleeping puppy.

Joey, Burma, Toad, Rumor, Leon....STOP THAT whoever you are (a litany of of prior dogs (and cats) because with the excitement of seeing a puppy dragging an umbrella around you can't remember her name)

STOP BUGGING THE CATS...

And you don't even have cats Kenny--so it'll be easier.

"Well, it serves you right!" Said to puppy after she performs some not too well thought out maneuver and gets stuck somewhere, bugs the cat once too often and earns a swipe from him, wallows in the mud and needs a wipe down......

"You need to go out AGAIN! You just went...."

"Belly, belly, belly..." Said during a tummy rub.

"You silly. It's only a (vacuum cleaner, wind-up toy, wheelbarrow, cow, hat, garden hose, fan.....)"

"Who did this?" Like you really need to ask.

And one of the more important things I learned--don't pick anything up off the floor with your bare hands until you have identified exactly what it is (Is that a raisin or a .......?)

"Oh, *bleep*! She's gone over both baby gates!".

Said about a certain little bitter bitter biter biter last night. And did the little fiend ever have fun.....running from one end of the house to the other, terrorizing the big cats, and attacking any human feet she came across. :/

I have to laugh at this. It reminds me when I used to go watch the working dog trials at the National Western Stock Show. The good dogs blew everyone away. But what I surmised was there are three commands: Down, Get Down and Get the Hell Down! And for some reason the red border collies did not work as well as the black border collies. Don't know why, they just didn't. But now I watch videos of dogs working out in a pasture loading cattle or sheep. I've often wondered how someone could end of missing 30 or 50 ewes. Well, a couple of good dogs and those critters are loaded. Anyway, Doc, enjoy the journey. They humble us.

Just a few for you Ken....

-Do you have your eyes on her?
-Have you seen my other house shoe?
-INCOMING!!!!
-No Mam, Get Down (from the kitchen counters, table, top of Matts head)
-We were JUST outside!
-How are you not sleepy yet?
-That's not food.
-Matt she's got my flower, a fig, a rock, a stick, the list goes on and on
-Stop eating the grass
-You are not a cow
-She's running, catch her!
-Do you think this is funny?
-How long does this last?
-She's so smart.
-You can't eat Rascals food, leave Rascal alone, Rascal needs some alone time, Rascal is much bigger than you, That's what happens....
-Me to Matt, "For future reference, we are getting a Senior"
-Matt to Me via text "She's being a little sh$t today" Me- "I love her so much"

She's awesome. Just be ready and pack some patience.

A quote from TN : Sheesh, Kenny, that's still 19 days away! Almost 3 weeks!

That quote came from a tread I posted up back on June 28 ! That time has flown by ! Main reason it has been non-stop here on the farm . I remember very well back to when we got Kadin - It was postponed twice , because his mean sister would not leave the stiches in is tail alone and Cindy wanted to make sure he was prefect before leaving her place . That time was like a eternity to pass . Now with a pickup on Sunday morning - WOW ! where did that time go ? Am I ready ? For the pup ? OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH yeah , lol and pretty sure we are ready with the supplies .

I have talked to the Gal that is whelping this litter -- I will be honest here -- I could not be a breeder or whelp a litter , I could not let them go ! The gal really don't live far from us - so when this virus deal runs its course - Plan on heading over to the Buckeye for her to see her . I do have a funny story here - I called the gal one night to check on the puppies after ear crop - they did great and the gal had them crated , But I heard one -- crying and crying and crying - She was NOT happy in that crate ! Sounds so much like Ali when she was a pup , Anyway - the gal said I bet that's the one you will get ! LOL I was already thinking that ! She was to funny !

Like I have said many times on here - Each Dobie has it's own story write , The new Book is about to start here , Just wonder how Chapter 1 will start out ? LOL

It is definitely a new chapter. That's how I described Sugar. They are heart healers too. It still hurts from our loss but it is more bearable now.

Omg kiss that girl's face for me and hug her tight. I do love that about puppies!

Although I am very happy with my big lovebug who loves to cuddle and kiss! And who sleeps through the night with no trouble :x:x
