Weight

Hi I’m writing from the UK as a very proud owner of a female European Dobermann . Her mother is Russian and 80 Lbs and her father is 120 but she is 156 days old and 43.6 lbs . ( 5 months and a week ) . I hope this is ok ? I am feeding her dried Origen for large puppy as my husband has immune issues and the vet said raw would be un safe but I’m not able I l live with him due to the virus so may I should put her on raw ? Or will she grow slowly and this is normal ? Thank so much .. she was the smallest of the litter and I’m happy If she’s not huge

Hi Boo... And welcome from the Pacific NW.

I can't comment on the weight of your girl except to say that puppies come in a variety of different sizes . And they grow at differential rates.

For example: Our last three boys were from the same breeder. One was always trying to push the 100lb. mark. Our current youngest is best at about 80lb. And, our senior, who was also the smallest of the litter by far, is best kept at 70lb. or below. The big guy put on muscle mass and a bit of height until he was 3 yo. Our 5 1/2 yo was pretty much done growing by 8-9 months.

IMO, if your girl gets proper nutrition, decent health care and age appropriate exercise, she will end up, sizewise, exactly where she should be.

Best to you and yours,

John Lichtwardt

Pictures of your puppy would be helpful. Personally, her weight sounds fine to me.
