Question Bringing home littermates?

Question..... we are looking at getting a brother sister from a litter. Breeder has tons a great reviews and is AKC registered. I asked about getting both and she said she has 2 sets of sisters and never had any issues. Is this a good idea or should we get one now and one later this fall?

Get on dog, and then add a second after the first dog is at least two.

I'ts the very rare reputable breeder who will sell someone two pups from the same litter.

Please look up littermate syndrome before getting two from the same litter.

I would consider this breeder unethical.

Boy, I sure don't recommend getting litter mate--or even puppies that aren't litter mates but roughly the same age--I agree with the people who have given you several reasons it's mot a good idea--primarily because even if you know that you should do your best they tend to bond more firmly to each other than to the people in their lives. I keep (or have in the past kept) multiple dogs--but generally I don't have a new puppy until the youngest dog is at least two years older than the newest puppy.

Sometime between two years and 3 years gap between dogs.

I have to agree with fainfenix not a reputable breeder. Ethical breeders would not sell from the same litter. It is always best to wait till the first dog has reached maturity about 3 yrs of age before bringing in another puppy. Also remember that Dobermans have a tendency for Same Sex Aggression (SSA) so boy girl is recommended.
