Bodhi's a 6 month old teenager

Bodhi continues to delight us. Great dog to live with. We were looking forward to show cluster here in May, but it has been cancelled. My daughter has started nose work with him and he is doing great. He stays with the job until it is finished and doesn't get tired or discouraged until he locates the scent. He is a funny guy and keeps us laughing. Also the most loving dog we have had. I realize he has a long way to go in his development, but we are enjoying the journey with him.

Hopefully the dog shows will be back come summer. I just tell myself that it's good for Mabel to stay home and mature some more before continuing work on getting her Grand Championship.... we shall see. I also just recently got her certified as a Therapy Dog, and now can't go anyplace. Ah well!

He's a handsome little guy! Glad he's enjoying Nosework.

I really feel for anyone schedule to get a pup, or with a very young puppy right now. It could really impact their social development. I'm glad you're past that very young imprinting stage. Honestly, I'd give it very serious thought if I were getting a puppy RIGHT now...I don't think I'd do it. The inability to socialize or get into puppy class would be a serious hindrance.

Heck, I'm really disappointed that we can't take our Gus out to nursing homes for visits. He has such promise as a therapy cat and the first two visits went tremendously well, but he's just hitting about six months old...without those really regular outings we may lose the window of him being used to it. So even with the right temperament...

Sorry, didn't mean to derail! Love your little guy.

MC, I don't consider that a derail. You are so right and I feel that. We are taking advantage of any opportunity to get him out. Every trip to a Home Depot or Lowes, he gets to go. Petsmart every other day and he now considers himself part ownership in that store. I am a member of the Greater Salt Lake Training Club where I could take advantage of any class at anytime, and that is closed right now. The Nose work class just closed last week, so previous to that we were able to get him out and about. Hopefully, this won't last much longer.

I see the dog shows in Logan, Ut are still open for entries and that is the middle of May. That could change. It is an outdoor show.
We are going to Bayfield, Colorado for a Nose Work trial the first of June. To hit these shows for trials take so much travel. Nothing going on close by.

I was not aware you could use cats for therapy!

Yes, Pet Partners certifies all kinds of animals! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Gus will still be adaptable enough, but I'm just not going out anywhere right now, so there's no where to take him. And I wouldn't take him random places the way I would a dog anyway, so... we'll just have to see. He did so well on his first two visits, too.

You know what--you guys with puppies that still really benefit by meeting More people or people in different places. You should talk to your veterinarian's--Oregon's vets are under the same guide lines as medical doctors--only emergency surgery--limited people in public areas--stay 6 feet apart. Our clinic has set it up so clients call from the parking lot and they give information to a tech over the phone, tech comes out to the parking lot and gets the pet and vet or tech calls client after everything is complete and tells them what's going on and transfers them to a receptionist who tells them how much and goes over the charges and they pay by credit card or give tech bringing pet to them cash and tech goes and gets change and returns it.

BUT--our techs, receptionists and assistants mostly go outside for breaks and I sometimes go up around break time so Joey the loaner can meet in the parking lot and get petted by everyone. He loves it the staff loves it because they've had occasion to meet a lot of my Dobes over the years and have really liked them. Also allows Joey to practice not jumping on anyone, sitting instead and getting rewarded for it.

Ask--you might be able to do that occasionally--all they can say is no but I think it's worth a try. Use a 6 foot training leash and you can know when you are at an appropriate distance.

This stuff is all hard on all of us--sometimes ingenuity works though.

Our vet office is doing the same thing. Call when you get here and wait in car until we text you to come in.
We used to take Bodhi with us to every vet visit and just take him in to be weighed and given a treat by the girls behind the desk.
Just as an excuse to socialize. Our clinic is so busy I doubt anyone would come out to just pet my dog, but as you say, it might
be worth asking.

Great Bodhi "lap dog" pics, Cressrb! He's so grown looking & handsome!
Sounds like he might also be good therapy dog material?

In our SATX Pet Partners local affiliate group, we've only got one cat, (3) llamas, a pig, (3) miniature horses and the rest are dogs (including one blind dog).

My last hope for shows in puppy class was the Logan, Ut show mid May. It just cancelled.
Hoping the Ccolorado NoseWork trials don't cancel for June. Pinning our hopes on that.
It is so important to get those puppies out there early. But, I know everyone is in this same boat.
