I've never been a "puppy person".... my Rat Terrier (fished out of a storm sewer at only six weeks) and I barely survived each other. Next dog is going to almost have to be a puppy though, since I've got two older bitches and three cats. I can't say as how I'm really looking forward to it.

Should I lie in my application so I can get a puppy from a reputable breeder?

Tada ---- Never - Never -- Never Lie on your app !

I have read your above posts - It's great that you have a plan --- But -- it's almost impossible to make plans when raising a puppy - you may get close but that would be by luck - but that's my opinion

Questions -- Where do you live ? House ? Apartment ? At home ? This can be a player when your Appling for a Dober pup

Do you have a fenced in yard ? If you don't - This is almost a automatic DQ .

(I am not an experienced dog owner == Oh boy , this is almost a Automatic DQ -- Reason -- These top of the line breeders put there heart and soles into there dogs - puppies and only want to home them where they have the best chance to succeed , Now ask yourself - If you were the breeder - how would you look at a app like yours ? Not being mean here ! But Realistic .

Doberman pups are or can be a hand full - lol They need so much time when there little - Like I have always said , Doberman not only need attention - they demand it

Don't worry about the Dobermom or dad - lol Aunt Bug is full of it - lol - You can't have Dobermans since 1959 and not consider them family , Aunt Bug is very highly regarded on here - She has some of the best Dober stories you could ever read and the knowledge she has on the breed ! She is priceless !

Good luck in your pursuit of a Doberman - But I'm afraid you have a long road to go . Again - JMHO

Doc

Good to know all of this automatic DQ.... I'm taking notes.... a house with a fenced yard= I am moving out of Toronto..... I definitely have a long road to go LOL.

A few weeks ago his breeder called to check in. We laughed about him being an idiot at times but that it was normal and Sugar is lucky somedays he is so stinking cute. The breeder appreciates my honesty lol because some homes just say everything is all roses which is not the case. It wasn't with my old gal either when she was young but you forget about those times when they become the best dogs.

Gotta go walk my boy.
HAHAHA,
LOL, I go to the gym once a month, but okay I will be prepared?

Have a good walk!

We had a great rescue boy, too - he was a senior, 8 years old. He would have been a great dog for a first time owner, and could have been just fine in an apartment type situation. Much lower exercise requirements, content to hang out...didn't require really any training. Previous owners got divorced, and couldn't find housing that allowed Dobes.
