Poor puppy. Could be an infection of some sort or the beginning of Demodectic mange. Best to have your Vet take a look at it.

depending on the age, which by the head looks very young.. It looks like an infection caused when the pups are all together and biting on each others faces wile playing. Then those little nicks get infected.. they would need antibiotics.

Breeder sent me a picture of the litter from which my little boy is coming. I don't know yet which one will be mine (4 weeks old in this pic). But I noticed this on the muzzle of one and wanted to know what that was. THANK YOU!

PMG - wanted to ask here before asking the breeder - and this may not even be the puppy picked out for me - so it may not even be something I need to ask her about. BUT I did want to know what it could be, even if not my puppy. The more I can learn about the breed the better. (I'm learning so much - and largely from this site and experienced owners.)

We see it in Vizslas, they call it puppy crud. Even the vet here does. I was taking in a foster litter with a bitch with lymphoma so took them to the vet to make sure it wasn't contagious. IF this is the same thing, it is kind of like cradle cap in babies. It pretty much goes away on it's own.

At four weeks it couldn't be bite marks, unless my memory is really failing me.
I would be asking the breeder what it is??? She should know, and if she doesn't, or isn't trying to find out, I don't think if I would buy from her.

I would tend to agree. Piper had the same thing and it was on her upper back as well. A round of antibiotics took care of it in about a week.
