Instagram and Tumblr are the WORST when it comes to the anti-cropping crowds. I am regularly accused of "amputating" my puppy's ears. I have just started deleting + blocking everyone that tries to start something. The irony is that they will go off on you but if you check out their dog on their profile it will have long, overgrown nails, or be wearing a baggy choke chain while crated, or posing next to a bag of the cheapest crappiest kibble. 🙄

Jesseq, that is an incredible photo of Mac. He is gleaming with good health and looks totally perfect. What a well kept boy.

Just tell them you like the look so much that you also cropped your Labradors and your cats. You can't reason with them so you might as well have so fun, that or just ignore them

When he grows up and is done posting you'll probably get a lot less grief from people because they'll think it's natural.

I haven't read all the other responses, but once your pup is healed and doesn't have obvious posts in the ears, the annoying comments will start going away.

Our 7 month old has natural ears (not because we think it's cruel or anything), and the majority of people we meet don't believe me when I say he's a Doberman. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "Nah, he's mixed with something, because Dobermans have short, pointy ears".

Haha. The same people who yell at Doberman owners for cropping their ears are probably the same people who take their young daughters to get their ears pierced.

Social media is just a place for faceless, nameless, cowards and bullies to post comments without any consequences. I refuse to join Facebook or do any of the Instagram or other outlets like that. This forum is about as far as I will go since it is moderated.

People nowadays mutilate their bodies with body piercing, ear hoops, tattoo's, circumsizing male infants, etc. and I could care less what they do. It's called freedom of choice and liberty. It's so ironic that some people claim to be freedom fighting and libertarian in their beliefs but then they tell others what they can and can't do with other peoples dogs cropping or docking.

oh im right here with you on this. I had my boys done going on 4 weeks now. I mad the mistake of posting him on my Facebook, I had an instant backlash of people telling me I was cruel, and it was unnecessary etc even though he was back to tearing up the couch right we he came home same day.. Then the others who stop me at petsmart and ask if his ears were injured... then I explain and they say "ohh....." like im some kind of monster, plastic surgery advocate who just forced him to get breast implants. Its not necessary, no. Just explain to people you have a doberman, and you want it to look like a doberman. Its not a fight we can really win unfortunately, as I hate to admit it.... they are right, and we don't have much of a leg to stand on.

ooooh even better, the people who are scared to pet him because they think he is sick. Cracks me up. They ask if he is sick, and I tell them "yes, unfortunately he has ear herpes" and they are always like "ohmigosh, poor thing"

people are incredible

I don't agree that "they are right". Yes, cropping is a choice. But so is subjecting your child to head injuries playing soccer. Or letting your significant other risk their life riding a bicycle on the street. There are lots of choices in life and I'm of the opinion that as long as it's unlikely to cause pain or suffering and has no effect on people outside of the ones you're responsible for then it's your choice.

That's certainly one adjective...maybe not the first one I'd use, but certainly one.
