Cool Need new Dog beds that will last?

So far the only ones that look appealing are the ones from Mammoth which is found online.
Pet Beds,Mats,Crate Mats,All sizes,Sale on Now!

I don't want the fill to clump and flatten. the whole thing needs to be stain and water resistant. and it has to withstand one doberman and two boxer/pit bull mixes. I hate the idae of spending a hundred dollars on a pet bed. But it seems to be the price. The other beds I"ve purchased have been from wal mart and Petsmart. Both have been through some abuse..
So how do you feel about Mammouth? and what are your ideas ?

I still think the Costco dog beds (size large--will hold two large males Dobes) are the best buy for the buck around. Cover is zippered, heavy cotton (some have synthetic fleece on one side, others are fabric both sides, and one version is plush on one side, heavy cotton on the other) entirely washable. The fill will eventually clump and flatten but I have five and 7 year old beds that I can still shake up into nice fat pillows. The covers wear like iron (as long as you don't have a bed eater) and wash like a dream. All this and they are still around $20.

I like the fabric and synthetic fleece ones best (as do the dogs) so I watch for them and buy them a new one. I also buy them for the Dobe club I belong to to give at Specialties as trophies and for friends with dogs as Christmas presents.

The covers aren't water resistant but the only thing that ever stained one was the kid (not mine--a visitor) who drew all over the fabric side of one with a crayon.

When I had an old incontinent dog I wrapped the interior (the fill is contained in a lightweight dacron cover) in a double layer of heavy weight leaf and lawn bags--that kept the fill from being saturated and I just came home every night and pulled the cover off and tossed it in the laundry--an hour later it was ready to be put on again.

My dogs sleep tight on Costco beds

I like the Costco (Kirkland Brand) beds as well. I have used the round ones that dobebug describes above but like the rectangular models with the spongy foam stuff inside the best. The cover is removable and can be washed and my dogs seems to like them just fine. They cost about $20.

I'm going to be purchasing one from ll bean. They have a rectangle or round choice and you can pick from either all denim or a denim with fleece. Zippers, can order replacement covers or mattresses.

Premium Dog Beds from L.L.Bean

Costco.com: Offering thousands of items you won?t find in your local Costco.

Yes, they have a website but don't seem to have the same products online that they have in the stores. The dog beds on the website are much more than the ones they carry in the actual stores.

I bought this one last year.

Costco - Majestic Pet 52" Chocolate Donut Pet Bed Faux Suede

Louie stretches out often on it, Scooby will snuggle up to him too and there is plenty of room. I few months ago I had a very VERY large Doberman foster and all three laid and snuggled on it and there was plenty of room left over.

ETA: they don't carry this one in the store I had to order it.

Dr. Fosters & smith on line... sell an eggcrate foam bed with waterproof zippered mattress cover and a traditional heavy duty cloth cover. More expensive but terrific if you have a leaky dog.

I bought two beds from this company Dog Gone Smart Beds

Mine are still new, but so far so good. They are most definitely water resistant, although i've noticed that cat hair sticks to them like crazy. Not sure how well the pillows will hold up and I haven't had to wash mine yet, although I've only had both for about two weeks now. They are expensive tho. Got mine cheap due to my job, but at retail, the 42" circle pillow costs 139.99 here.

Honestly, I am a costco bed fan as well. After two years, I *just* had to throw mine out due to an unfortunate accident that ended in its demise. Wish we had a costco here! You just cannot beat that price.

Costco is Costco--sometimes not even the stores have the beds that the stores carry and occasionally the catalog has the beds that are usually carried in the stores.

I've learned over time that if there is something that Costco carries and I like it and they have it I'd better buy it now because they may not have it in two weeks and what's more they may not have exactly the same thing in again for months.

I also like their dog blankets--but I have definite preferences (they are also a great deal--most of them are still around $15--hold up well, wash as well as the dog bed covers do.

My dogs have definite preferences--I've had a couple of the foam beds--I still do--left to their own devices and given a choice between the foam and the fiber fill my dogs choose not to sleep on the foam. One of the foam ones ended up in the spare bedroom and a cat I cat sit for from time to time likes it. The other one is in the bedroom and acts as the box spring for two round beds piled on it. The dogs like that arrangement just fine.

And my picky dogs even my horribly incontinent old male HATED the only bed with a waterproof cover I ever bought. I finally gave it away and wrapped the guts of the oldest Costco bed in the double heavy duty garbage bags and resigned myself to washing the fabric cover every night. That dog slept on it for nearly two years before he went where the good dogs go--it's actually the only Costco bed that I ever threw away--and at that I still have the cover--I use it when I'm washing one of the other covers.

Thank you for all the replies I checked out my local costco over the weekend. There was only one bed available that was around 50 bucks. And it smelled like the pine shavings in a hamster cage. The website and the store definately had a different selection of products. I was bummed...
Maybe I should give up and get one from Mammouth on the internet. or dr. fosters and smith.. not sure where else to shop

I will tell you my secret. I have 3 baby crib mattresses in my house. They have no stuffies that they even want to chew. They are water proof and super easy clean. Cheap if you get off of craigslist ( got all 3 of mine for $50)and wipe down with mild soap. I placed eggcrate cut to size and a crib sheet and have the best beds around. Has even been keeping them off of my furniture! Just a thought Got tired of spending $40 a bed that dragons hid in.

I just bought one from Cabelas.com It is the orthopedic dog bed. Six inches of sturdy foam. It is well made, can handle the weight of two dogs. On sale for $79.00 I've even slept on it one night

I have 3 LL Bean Beds. Two Round and one rectangle orthopedic foam bed. The favorite bed is the rectangle orthopedic bed. Monty would love to sleep on it...but it's Petey's night time bed. All have zip off denim covers. The oldest one is 3, and still in great shape. Before these three....I had two others for my Weims, they also lasted for many years, both were used for Petey's first year while he was a puppy. Although pricey I'm very happy with the quality of LLBean beds.

I got tired of buying beds that end up getting crushed down. I spent so big money and bought a Big Barker bed. Best money I have spent on my buddy. I actually have 3 of them now around the house. It is so nice that I want to sleep on it. I'm also big on items made here in the USA, and it is. The material is also sourced here as well. They have a 10 year warranty on them and great customer service. I dont sleep on a junk bed so why should he.

Another vote for Costco here. Great beds, the one I have now was bought well over a year ago and still looks basically new. I've washed it only a handful of times.

Dakota has two square couch cushions in her crate. They fit perfectly, lots of life left in them(the upholstery is pilled and ugly, but for a dog bed meh - who cares) and the best part - they were free! I'll be looking for something similar for Dallas's crate once he's past the dragon-slaying stage

This thread is about half a decade old...

So these Costco beds still run close to $20? Or have they too been inflated by $15/hr min wage demands?

Need something tough for chief... He's doesn't tear things up, but I tore the label off one of the chewy.com beds I got him(that was far too much and far too flat to begin with) and exposed stuffing and since it's now open, he pulls the stuffing out if we barely look away... So it's in the living room and the other is in his crate... Still if he manages to tear open the crate one, I'm certain we will find slobered on stuffing everywhere and don't want the chance that he'll decide to start eating some...

Would love a$20 bed option, LoL

Costco has paid high wages for a long time.

The Costco beds are still available at very reasonable prices, and I highly recommend them. We have quite a few at my house. The covers are removable for washing. Some pups may still need supervision with them, of course, but they are nice beds for the price. They also have orthopedic beds for something like $40. Costco rocks.

I agree on the Costco beds, and also the dog throws that come in a variety of tough fabrics, from canvas-like to soft, velvety (super important for Dobes that like soft blankets).

I have had to repair the Costco dog bed a few times because of dragon infestations, but it's a few years old and large enough for two Dobes who get along well together, they've shared one bed even when they had two available.
