Agility really is a fun sport, the dogs absolutely love it. They love going to class, and they love going to trials. Delta recognizes the building we train in, and all of the local trail sites. She just can't wait to get inside. I am glad to hear another dobe person has joined the agility crowd.
Great instructors can make a world of difference. As you start learning more and more about the sport you will find there are many good books and articles out there which focus on handling skills, course memorization, teaching obstacles, teaching crosses, motivation, control, and much more. Clean Run
is the Premier agility resource for books, gear, and other things.
I love nothing more than the joy of watching the dogs doing something they love. The expression on a new dogs face when they first learn an obstacle is priceless. It's like a little kid saying "Look what I can do!" They feel so special.
I have never understood why more breeders and owners don't get their dogs involved in obedience and/or agility. While I love going and showing at conformation shows and will always be involved in handling, I find the joy I get from a run at an agility trial often exceeds that of which I get in the conformation ring.
