2016 Training Wish List

Is it too early to be thinking about 2016 training goals?

I'm keeping my initial expectations low...

Ilka
Advanced Trick Dog
Novice Parkour Dog
Cyber Rally-O Level 1

Leo
Advanced Trick Dog
Novice Parkour Dog
Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials
Get one UKC Nosework Novice element title (bonus goal)

Lily
Intermediate Trick Dog
Novice Parkour Dog
Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials
Get one UKC Nosework Novice element title (bonus goal)

If I can find an ATTS Temperament Test within a reasonable distance, I'd like to take Leo and Lily.

For all of them, keep training in obedience, nosework, tracking, tricks, and parkour.

And most of all, enjoy my time with them, and don't worry about comparing our achievements (or lack thereof) against other peoples achievements with their dogs.

This is a kind of "no training" list.

Bacchus will be formally retiring from competition at the end of this year. If he needs a couple of Qs to clean up a title or two we'll do that but all in all he is done.

I can't imagine a finer, more accommodating travelling companion to have shared this journey. For someone who only wanted a nice pet I got so much more.

Currently holding at 134 titles and awards.

AKC's #1 PACH Doberman 2015.
AKC's #2 PACH Doberman 2014.
UKC's #1 agility Doberman 2009 at the age of 1.5 years.
UKC's #1 agility Doberman All Star 2009. (all 3 levels)
Will compete at AKC Invitational 2015.
Qualified for 2016 National in Topeka early this year.

The day he was 1 year old he had 8 titles. (agility/OB/rally/temperament)
The day he was 2 years old he had 25.

And his most important job is being my service dog.

When I finally get his DobeQuest page updated I want anyone who happens to land on it to look at his accomplishments and say "that was a hell of a dog".

Somehow I always knew he was......

In aiming low, lots going on this upcoming year. I'd like to see June get his ORT on file and continue to work on his reactivity to skateboards.

Neut CH Highclere Abby Rose RE TD AD JD
Abby may or may not compete in agility again due to her current injury (& if she does it will be on a reduced schedule), but I will complete this with the sincere hope that she will be back into it!!

Finish the following titles:
ADX - currently 1/6 Qs
ADO - currently 1/5 Qs
TDX - 1/3 Qs
CCD - 1/3 Qs
SPD 1/3 Qs
Start & hopefully finish the following titles:
RM
T CH
CD
JDX
ADM
R CH (not likely to finish next year, too many passes required)

Training goals:
- I'd also love her heelwork in competition to improve, she picks up on my stress and drops off a lot
- better response to physical and verbal cues in agility
- work on more short grass in preparation of TSD
- have fun!

CH Nanuq Neverending Story

Miss Willow has only been here since April, her only competitive foray so far has been one jumping trial (no Q's handler error)

Training goals:
- learn weaves
- transition further away from food in heelwork
- more distance in tracking (currently she's tracking at TD1 level)

Competition goals:
RN
TD
AD
JD
SPD
ADO
JDO
CCD
RA
TDX
GD
SPDX

Not throw a hissy fit when sleeping outside of crate
Not yell when waiting 2 seconds for me to pay for your new bone at the store

Kris - Dobe - Rally, Obedience and Agility titles.
Remmy - Shih Tzu x Maltese - his last two Snooker Q's in Agility and that will complete all his Advanced titles. Then start on his Masters titles.
Lucy - Shih Tzu x Maltese - compete in Agility and get at least her Starter's titles.

Since I have a dog that can do go out and do stuff now, I'm back!

SO! Assuming his motivation prevails.....

- Try to find dock diving classes

- Try out rally or a tricks class

- Achieve Beginner Novice Obedience Title (potentially lofty but we'll see)

Hannah received her Intermediate Trick Dog Title at the end of December, so we are working on her advanced title.

Both dogs are going to a barn hunt trial this weekend, hoping to pick up some novice legs. Hannah is almost guaranteed unless there is some handler error, but Finn is kind of a wild card.

Finn is also signed up for his clove and anise ORT later this month. He will be out for a couple weeks in Feb/March for his neuter/gastropexy, hopefully that all goes well and we can pick up his training goals in April.

Brandy and I need to knock out our L1E. That is the last level 1 element title we need.

This spring and maybe fall if needed, we'll go for our NW2. I'm not sure how we'll do, but I love to trial and why not!?

All of this is for nose work for those that may not be familiar.

2016 is gearing up for us! can't wait to see what this year has ahead of us!

Berlin
nearing 8.5 years old, 2 years post op TPLO/then explant and 1 year post-op for two spinal surgeries, her general well being is the most important.
- stay healthy and sound
- enjoy life
- get sound enough to be able to hike this coming summer!
- SWIM!

Cherrybomb
Cherry is making leaps and bounds in her training - we took her back to basics this past 6 months and have REALLY been working on attitude and she's showing me her inner bitch!
- she qualified for Rally Nationals and I believe she will be the first all natural Doberman at an AKC national event! Our goal is to go, have fun, and I would LOVE a top 10 finish!
- AKC UD - she is re-debuting this year (she showed 4 times in utility last year) and I have high hopes!
- Qualify for the AKC Obedience Classic - either in open or utility!
- Continue working on attitude - we've revamped and are working with my trainer as well as Bridget Carlsen and I want this bitch to shine the way I know she can. Just in the past month I've seen her digging down and giving me much more effort than she has in the past, and she's taking correction and being wrong and being HAPPY about it.
- Continue to work on getting her more comfortable with Open - the DOR is always going to be her bugaboo!
- Continue finessing her heeling - she has had some flashes of brilliance in her work in the ring but she's not yet at the point of sustained effort in heeling.
- Continue to push her in her fitness - she's my dog with the strongest core, and I want to make sure she stays as fit and healthy as possible so she has a longer career.

Chill
Chill had a great year - he qualified for the AKC Obedience Classic first in Novice, and then in Open - and we went to Orlando and came home with an 8th place in the Novice division (And his half brother won the division!). He's fun and crazy but we are constantly working on capping that drive and working on precision in the ring. (and less biting)
- AKC UD! Chill is a few months behind Cherry in preparation, but he makes up for that in his zest for the class - he's LOVING it! I hope to debut him this year and get his UD!
- AKC Obedience Classic - Chill is already qualified in Open, but I would like to qualify him in Utility. This would hopefully give me TWO dogs in the utility division!
- If Chill gets his UD by June to qualify for the Classic, I will likely pull him from competition and really focus on getting him ready to make a run for an OTCH in 2017 - but he's coming out early just to try to get his UD.
- herding! Chill is still loving it, and I would love to potentially be able to put him in some started trials this year - and maybe do some AHBA.
- get him on strange sheep and see how he works with lighter sheep.
- Chill is potentially being bred this year!

Gadget
gadget successfully earned his NW1 last year (twice, as he got to run FEO!) and his obedience demands are pretty limited so...
- pass his Anise ORT
- Get his NW2
- work on confidence on containers
- work on confidence on vehicles
- generalize his working to many different locations - he can be very environmentally sensitive dog.

overall it's a big year for the dogs! they are all awesome and i can't wait to see what we can accomplish!

We are on our way, with her first CRO leg. Two more to go for her CRO-1, and I'm hoping to have them done next month. My CRO goal is getting at least one leg a month for 2016, probably working in multiple levels, as you can earn further titles at lower level, like WCRL.

I've also found a new (as in "started up this month") obedience venue, the Non Competitive Obedience Association. Non Competitive Obedience Association Like CRO and IDPKA, it's done via video submission.

Well, we'll throw out there...

We'll try for an NW2 this year. If we can get into any element trials, I'll give those a try. Richter is eligible for L1E, L1I, and L1C (he has L1V). I would give any of them a try and be pleased if he passed any of them.

We want to start trialing in agility this year...I was hoping for sooner, but his four month break with sesamoiditis in his toe set us back on the trialing schedule. So any time this year would be fantastic. We're signed up for a Stacy Goudy seminar in August, so I'm excited about that.

We should finish his CAA in the spring - he just needs one more run. After that I'm retiring him from lure coursing. He now has two toe injuries, and I'm also not willing to travel, so...I think that's the best decision.

I think that's it for him? Might enter him in a CDSP obedience trial for a lark, but more than likely not.

RN
TD
AD
JD
SPD
ADO
JDO
CCD
RA
TDX
GD
SPDX
OK, so Abby is now retired from the agility ring, except for the occasional appearance in strategic pairs (where she can jump at 100mm lower).
At this point, I would sincerely love to thank Abby for continuing to run throughout all of her problems, which she refused to ever show. Her attitude will probably never be repeated, and I apologise unreservedly for never thinking there may be something seriously wrong. No one will ever understand how guilty I now feel for running her and not realising the seriousness of her underlying problems

Abby's only goal in life is to now enjoy herself
In Abby's terms, that means as much tracking as she can make me do, as it is her absolute favourite thing on earth.
Other than that, we shall now concentrate on her rally-o masters & rally-o CH titles, which we don't expect straight away, but that is the whole point of a challenge, is it not? We should also at some point this year, start back into traditional obedience, at CCD level. However, if she never quals in any sport agin, her life is complete. For what she has done for me, I will never ever ask anything of her again that she does not offer first

Leo

Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials

Managed a title I hadn't planned on. She earned her Preliminary Dance title from CRO, two of her runs With Honors (meaning we met or exceeded requirements 90% of the time) a couple of weeks ago.

Lily
Intermediate Trick Dog
Novice Parkour Dog
Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials
Get one UKC Nosework Novice element title (bonus goal)
Umm... I really need to get cracking....

I'm not sure how well my plans for training and recording/titling are going to pan out over the next few months. I've been informed that my son won't be going to summer school (thank you, state take-over of our school system), so I will have him at home every day. I can't deal with both him and a dog while out and about, so there won't be very many opportunities to record things.

It's also freaking hot already. Had Ilka out a park yesterday , and even under a cover with a nice breeze blowing, and wrapping her in a cooling towel and encouraging her to drink some water between runs, she was overheating.

Okay, an update.....

Ilka
Advanced Trick Dog Check. We also have three of the five she needs for her Expert Trick Dog title.
Novice Parkour Dog Working on it. I've got all but a few of the videos I need.
Cyber Rally-O Level 1 Check. Hoping to get her CRO-2 by the end of the year.
NCO-1 (not on my original list, since it didn't even exist at the time) Check. Need to practice for her NCO-2.

Leo
Advanced Trick Dog Only need one more trick.
Novice Parkour Dog Have maybe half the video clips I need.
Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials Not happening this year.
Get one UKC Nosework Novice element title (bonus goal) Definitely not happening this year.
D-CRO-Preliminary Not one I'd planned on getting, but glad to have it, and hope to get at least one leg towards her Pre-Bronze title by the end of the year.

Lily
Intermediate Trick Dog She has ten points (Advanced and Expert tricks are worth two points) out of the twelve needed.
Novice Parkour Dog Working on it. Have maybe a third of the video clips needed.
Pass all 5 UKC Nosework Pre-Trials Not this year.
Get one UKC Nosework Novice element title (bonus goal) Not this year.

If I can find an ATTS Temperament Test within a reasonable distance, I'd like to take Leo and Lily. Well, I was going to take them to one in October, but it got cancelled.

For all of them, keep training in obedience, nosework, tracking, tricks, and parkour. Been rather off and on, but we have done some work over the summer. Hope to get tracking again soon.

And most of all, enjoy my time with them, and don't worry about comparing our achievements (or lack thereof) against other peoples achievements with their dogs. Maybe easier said than done... I'm trying, though.

We also have a couple of NEW online titling events that we are trying.

All Dogs Parkour opened for registration on August 2nd, and will start taking submissions tomorrow. It is run by CRO, and the info can be found here. https://www.facebook.com/groups/AllD...oup_browse_new Lily will get to be the first of my crew to play in ADP. We have eight out of the twelve videos needed.

Fenzi Training Excellence Assessment Modules (Fenzi TEAM) was started a couple of months ago by Denise Fenzi (founder of FDSA). It is based on the individual bits of training for obedience competition. Fenzi TEAM Titles
