lure coursing

My breeder and I were just talking and Dax's sister was at a fun lure coursing match. She suggested that this is something that Dax might also enjoy.

After reading some of the threads I believe that you need to be 12 months to enter a competition however fun matches are different. So what are the ages for entering a fun match?

With Dax only 10 months old isn't this something to wait until growth plates are closed around 18 months? Thanks

A fun run is just that. For fun, with no title legs on the line. It can be as short as a dozen or so yards with no turns, or up to a full course, which for a Dobe would be 600 yards (400 for a veteran), with angles no sharper than 90°. As long as runs are kept short and not too fast, even fairly young pups can do them.

Our boys loved coursing! We could not even have them look at the course, because they would go nuts seeing it!!!!!!!!!!

You can ask the people running the event what distance is appropriate. I'd probably do 400yds at that age.
