So Proud...Brownie.

Sorry guys, another Brownie Brag...

He turned 10 months old last Saturday. Other than imprinting him at 8 weeks old..(teaching him to walk with his head up) and a couple of short sessions within the last few weeks in my office...(basically walking the perimeter of the roomso that he had no choice but to be straight...) Brownie has never done ANY obedience. Like...honestly he didn't even know what "sit" means. He knew if I tapped on his bottom, I wanted him to sit down...that was about it.

I was going down to SC today to train, and I decided that today was the day Brownie starts obedience.

He has only had a prong collar on like twice in his whole life.

This dog is a natural...He impresses me every single time I work him. He is SO SO smart, and surprisingly (to be such a little spitfire) his desire to please me is incredible. We did two sessions today. One this morning and one this evening... he made more progress in one day than I have ever made with either of my dobermans in a months time.

He doesn't WANT to take his eyes off of me, and he WANTS to be with me...he is like a little sponge just ready to soak up whatever I want to teach him. He learned to sit when we stop with a food lure, but was doing it on his own within a few minutes. He acted like he had been heeling his whole life... It was awesome, you would think I had been working on it with him for months.

My trainer was totally impressed (I was *TOTALLY* impressed...) When you have a dog who loves being with you, and loves working with you...training is so much fun.

My trainer and another guy I train with told me tonight that training a doberman in obedience is "cheating"... they are to easy. I offered them Ziris anytime they would like to give it a shot. She would promptly humble them. Haha.

Anyway... just thought I would share. I am so lucky to have Brownie, he is just getting better and better, and so far he is exactly what I wanted.

I was so happy the whole drive home tonight... You never know how it is going to go until you do it...he just totally exceeded my expectations.

Thanks for listening.

Brag away on that gorgeous boy!

Big congrats on reaching that point with Brownie that he is sooo intune with you that he would jump the moon if you asked. I think that's incredible & it also speaks volumes, IMHO, about your abilities & dedication as his owner
