A "health" thread, but not Doberman specific....

Moj has been on Rimadyl on and off since last March (when he does something athletic enough to make him stop peeing, I put him on it for 3 days or so). Well a month ago, we put him on it daily, and he does feel so much better. However they gave him the chewable variety, which we found out, has wheat in them....The itching started gradually, and took about 10 days of being on them for Moj to start itching every minute.... chewing and biting his legs and flanks constantly...generally driving himself and me crazy.

Yesterday I asked for the caplets for his next month's supply. Even in just 24 hours the itching has slowed down a lot....and I expect it will take another few days for it to end completely. I'll use the left over chewables one here, and one there after we get his itching gone for good. Hate to waste them, they're darn expensive....and one every week isn't going to make him flare up.

Just sayin', if you have grain sensitive dogs, don't let the Vets give you the Rimadyl chewables. I looked all over the internet, even the insert in the Rimadly bottles don't tell what the inert ingredients are. The Vet called Pitzer and found out.

I'll never understand why companies put common allergens in products as "fillers".
Thanks for sharing.
