Arrow Alternatives to Declawing (pics)

I ordered some Alternatives to Declawing, Nail Caps for Cats for the cats because even with bi-weekly nail trims they were destroying my couch!! I have devil cats.

I must say I am NOT as happy with them as i was when i originally bought them about 2 years ago, I guess i will have to switch sizes and go from a medium to a small, other than that i do love them.
My cats are fine with them and dont bother with them at all. I usually end up having to cut them off because they stay on so well.
Whenever I can, I will reccomend these to people who are thinking of declawing their cats

This time i ordered the rainbow pack and the red and pink pack.

Gilbert is sporting the rainbow, Gracie in pink and Phyllis in rainbow.

When I get my new ones in I will have to post pics. I love them as well. Mine wear small because for some reason my cats stayed very small. I got the hot pink and black combo for Roxy and Kirra has the Green and Yellow combo (university of south florida) and she will soon have the Red, White, and Blue combo.

Roxy lets me put hers on with no fuss, Kirra tries to eat me.

Gilbert squirms alot because he doesnt like to be restrained he has been that way since he was a kitten- the less restraint the better.

Phyllis doesnt like it becuase the dog will nose bump her but she sits still and deals with it.

Gracie is VERY MOUTHY LOVES to talk talk talk talk talk!!! But is just all talk and no action.
My cats have always been good for nail trims though so this isnt much different.
Oh, and i was very close to getting the pink and black combo.

Yep they come with crazy glue and applicator tips and you fill the nail cover 1/3 with glue then you slip it over the nail. i hold thier nail out for a bit so that if there is any glue it doesnt glue their nail to their furry toes.

Cats supossidly HATE the smell of Ginger! get some Ginger essential oil, mix it with a little water, shake it up and spray where ever you do not want them. Sides of couch where they scratch etc. Do they have their own scratch pole or anything? If so catnip or valerian herb rubbed on, or the essential oil sprayed there will attract them to that spot to scratch.

I clip nails on them twice a week, i realize i didnt word it right in the first post lol. However even with twice weekly nail trims and a scratching post all of their own they choose to use the couch.
That couch will be leaving soon anyways since it is wrecked from them and saphire leaking on it.
I was able to get a cheap used leather couch so it is better all around.
Anyways, it isnt from lack of nail trims that i have problems i just have bratty cats and i wouldnt have it any other way!

Thanks for the idea! My husband and I have been battling about getting the cats declawed, I hate the idea, and have never declawed my cats. He doesn't want the kittens destroying our furniture and drapes. We just adopted three kittens born on Oct 2nd 2009 and they are at the age when we have to do something, so I just ordered three boxes (two pink for my girls and a blue for the boy) to try out. I hope this works! Right now I am doing the whole spray bottle thing, and it works ok, but is useless when I am not home or when I am unconscious at night lol.

I clip nails too - usually when they're wrestling, so instead of biting me they bite each other!

wOOt! I just got my SoftPaws delivery today. Took me about thirty minutes to apply the nails to all three kittens, they did not put up much of a fight and have not even noticed them since I finished. Wish me luck it stays that way! Thanks again for the tip! My leather furniture thanks you as well!

I got my claw covers and put them on. I will say I was a little disappointed in the pink and black combo, the pink is nowhere near what the pictures on the site looked like, they are the CLS ones with the clear at the top and they just aren't as bright. *sigh*

I will take pictures when the cats are willing to forgive me for touching their paws. I have such brats.
