German Shepherd breeder information

I have a friend looking for a well bred shepherd out of working lines. Health and drives are important as she wants to use the dog for various sports. She keeps linking my backyard breeders and I'm trying to steer her into better quality. She has a shepherd that she has been training for years but it came from a less than stellar breeder. She knows better now!

Any recommendations would be helpful! Doubly so if they're within an 8-10 hour drive of central Kentucky, but not a requirement.

I would suggest they join the German Shepherd Forum https://www.germanshepherds.com/forums/ and ask for recommendations there.

My usual rec is Blackthorn out of Virginia. She breeds primarily bicolors, and all working dogs. I've seen her dogs at events and I've gotten the opportunity to train one of her puppy owners, PLUS a friend has one of her dogs. Gorgeous, even-tempered, healthy dogs.

She's worth the trek.

Hey Whiskey, good to see you back again!

You DO know that one can't hit & run on our DT forum after a 4-year absence and not update everyone on their life and pack?
