Her name is Tiki!
She's 5 months, supposedly pure chi though who honestly knows. I had put my some feelers out for a rescue chi and got connected with someone who had put an ad out on CL for their mother who was apparently going into an assisted living facility and needed to find a home for her chihuahua. An hour's drive later and I went home with a tiny, all of her things, and a lot of tears shed from her elderly owner who was heartbroken to have to give her up.
She definitely has some sort of URI- we noticed the cough on the ride home and rerouted to our vet instead of taking her into the house. The vet is fairly confident it's not dog flu or kennel cough, but does believe it's some sort of bacterial infection and gave her meds to treat. She is also slightly underweight which does not surprise me considering what she'd been eating and how much.
Home and bathed and in a sweater for the cold night- she's on day #3 of her two week shutdown and is clearly beginning to feel much better. She's doing her best to get the other dogs to play with her (can't, she's quarantined until she stops coughing) and today has spent the past two hours making a game of scattering her toys all over her pen.
My view before I go to bed at night...
Once she's feeling better we'll get this potty training thing fully underway and maybe I won't have to buy stock in pads. We had a good short walk today despite the fact that she's clearly never been on leash before, and we're starting to master peeing outside... if I can get pooping outside going too I'd definitely appreciate it...
So far she's a great cuddle buddy and definitely a bold, confident, sassy little thing with a playful streak and a great love of food. I'd been toying around with the idea of getting a little since Creed was about 2, but the opportunity never really presented itself and I'm very picky on what temperament I'd want too. So far, she's pretty close to that ideal, so we'll see what she turns into once she settle in and starts maturing.
She spat out the molar on the right on her first night home. Creed's molar from when he was the same age in on the left. The size difference here is blowing my mind!
