The further geocaching adventures of TeamHellhound

Another in the "What lengths are you willing to go to for a dog sports title?" series. In this case, control my fear of heights long enough to retrieve a geocache hidden on a pedestrian overpass over a busy highway, take a few pictures, and sign the log. I waited until we got down to log it on the website.

This is cache number 66 for me, number 51 for Lily, and number 50 for Leo. We also got nearly a mile walk in for toward and Outdoor Dog wagging walkers title. Outdoor Dog is a super new organization that will be offering titles in walking, hiking, canoeing and /or paddle boarding, and boating.

The name of this cache is Watch that Traffic!, so Lily was.

Leo wasn't overly impressed with the actual cache container.

Lily was even less impressed.

And in case you are wondering why it's called Watch that Traffic!, this is why. We were right above the middle pillar.

It's just started up (I only heard about it a few days ago). Right now, it's run through a Facebook Group called Outdoor Dog. https://www.facebook.com/groups/438259740246580/ This is a link to the rules (hope it works). https://www.facebook.com/download/pr...60448974845941

Wagging Walker titles are for walking in urban type areas and city parks. This is what the girls and I are going to be doing.

Hiking Hound titles are for hiking in the woods and other non-urban areas.

Paddling Pup is for canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and other non-motorized water craft requiring human power via paddling or peddling.

Sailing Seadog is for non-human powered watercraft, like sailboats and powerboats.

The Canine Camper title is for well, camping with your dog. Tents, RVs, and cabins all count as camping.

We could move up the walking and hiking ladder pretty quickly...I have to walk DogDog every day and I get bored with the same thing over and over.

But I wonder what the ruling is for trails that overlap. For example, one day you do a particular trail and the next you do another trail that includes part of the first trail. There are at least 3 open space parks in our area that must each have about 15 individually named trails (true trails as far as I'm concerned, not urban walks) many about 1/2 mile long, which you can hike together in all kinds of combinations. I usually do 2-3 mile loops. I can think of about 8 two mile loops with no repeated sections within a couple of miles of my house, and more if I go just a few miles farther, but....

If you want to, you can log your walking distance or time instead of location. I'm going with the distance track, since we walk a lot of the same areas over and over. I already use the MapMyWalk app, so all I need to do is keep a log of how far we've walked.
