I have no clue what order NoBite is going to post the pics, but there is a pic of my Dry Pond, Dominic and Princess Lily Belle. One pic of the neighbors DD's (well, at least 2 of the A-holes). The black Dane pup seems okay. I hope NB blows that pic up, so you can actually see their partial pack of dogs. But, if not, you can at least see I take pride in my property and the neighbors don't.

Spock,

Wow bug... You remembered! Yeah McCoy will be 6 yo. Unfortunately for him, his day will be overshadowed by another, as my oldest grandson, Gabriel, and McCoy share the same birthday. So, it's off to the Enchanted Forest with Gabriel. (Fires permitting.) Then, on to our friend's restaurant for an early outdoor birthday dinner. Then back to our house, where the little pain in the a$$ will spend the night with the other birthday boy up in their room. Yes... They share a room over here. Always have!

Oh... BTW... September 12th is Saturday not tomorrow. Yeah, I know. The days/dates all run together during these wonderful times. LOL

STJ!
LOL--and I didn't figure out that I was a day off (evidently I can remember what day of the week it is or I can remember the date but not both) until they were talking about the twin tower disaster with was 19 years ago tomorrow on a news broadcast. Well DUH! That was last night--made me go look at a calendar.

OK McCoy and have a happy birthday tomorrow! Of course I remembered John--I wouldn't forget Toad's grandpuppy's birthday. But I do find it hard to believe he's now middle aged.

And happy birthday to his birthday buddy (your gandson).

Oh and to SP...........with brick on one wall .......I would paint all of the other walls white to match the other white..
We can bring color in later.....through pillows throws and Nicky knacky things.
I almost wrote a lie but erased it......
Well, that's pretty much what I'd do too but I'd have pulled the stupid fake brick off the wall, patched it as necessary and just leave the the propane heater as the point of interest.

I hate fake anything on walls. And LaDi is right you can add color and interest to the room along with furniture. I'm not long on nicky knacky things personally (too many years of life with dogs and cats who managed to knock those kinds of things off of shelves, tables etc) so anything that manages to survive is usually unbreakable and not terribly interesting.

I have lots of bookshelves for points of interests.

FYI
There’s a tiger loose in your state!
This tiger story was on the news this morning.
Thinking its a tiger cub.
All the zoos in the area have no record of a missing tiger.
Tell her to watch her 6!
I just saw that a couple of hours ago--news broadcast--looks like they have a wild animal sanctuary nearby and were going to check with them--the sanctuary said they'd take the cub anyway even if it turned out to be theirs.

Sounds like they were planning to dart it and take it to the sanctuary--doesn't seem to be dangerous but 911 has gotten a lot of calls that start out with someone saying "I know you aren't going to believe this but a tiger just walked through my back yard...

I think I am going for a very faint color of yellowish green.

That ought to bring Aunt B out of the woodwork!
Geeze Denny--you've got some sort of fixation on green, greenish, khaki, orange, brown etc

Make the SO show you the possible variations on just plain old white with a bare hint of some other color but NOT green. And ditch that brick--why didn't you do that when you were hiring some kid to peel off the vinyl stuff?

Yes! It did bring me leaping from the wood work which should be painted a bright white in a gloss so it's easy to clean off all the marks of people with dirty paws.

(mumble, mumble, mumble....)

Well bug... Its official:

As of 8:30 am PDT, Portland Or has the WORST air quality in the world!

We're #1! We're #1! The warnings advise even healthy folks to stay indoors and limit activities.

Man... The UP of Michigan is looking really good about now. No urban homeless encampments, no ANTIFA, no pollution, a reasonable cost of living and NO Ted Wheeler!

"so now the household has 3 cats, 3 Dobermans, 3 Chinese Cresteds and 2 people--and my refrigerator is full."

ABTLH
Oh oops, along with not knowing what day it is or what day of the week it might be, I see that I also can't count.

The household does indeed have 3 cats (Clark and Leon--mine and Sam the evacuee. 3 Dobes--Joey the loaner, Burma and Willow are the other two. but there are only 2 Chinese Cresteds. That would be Boston and Olivia. Who may be small but are big of heart and can out run the Dobes--and should be in the category of sight hounds not toys even if the AKC thinks that's where they belonged.

And there are still only two people and the refrigerator is still full.

Well, it's not even noon here in Minnesota, and Sypha and I have already been to a scentwork trial and back for the day. Up at 5:30 in the morning (YUCK!!!!). We're trying AKC Scentwork for the first time...not sure if it's "my cup of tea" or not, but...we'll see.

We did a run in exterior, interior, and containers today, and we'll do the same tomorrow and Sunday. Sypha qualified in exterior (3rd place) and interior (1st place). She decided to play with the boxes in containers and did not qualify - ha!

It's very chilly here...brrrr! We have a contractor finally out repairing our chimney and I'm sooooo excited. We'll be able to have nice fires in the fireplace again!
So after trying it out what did you think?

Tell us more!!

I will give it the whole weekend, but...right now, it's not really my cup of tea. I know I'm biased because I started in NACSW. And I also know that not every AKC trial is run the same.

But...it's just, weird, I guess. It's hard for me to adjust, and part of it is simply my personality type. Since there are multiple classes to enter and not everyone enters all the classes, it's a lot more chaotic. In NACSW, you might have something like 35 dogs entered, and all the dogs are going to do all the searches. So you have a run order, and there is a big standard with numbers being flipped, and you go to the staging area when it's your number. I've never been to a trial where you have more than maybe 2 or 3 "staging areas" for waiting. It's pretty efficient.

At this trial, the gate steward said "anyone in novice who wants to run exteriors go ahead." And I was like, "um, what?" So there were about 10 Novice A dogs and about the same number of Novice B, and even though there was a run order, it wasn't followed for either interiors/buried (which was one run - you skipped one or the other if you weren't entered in both), nor was it followed for exteriors. Super chaotic. For containors they did follow the order. It just also was...I don't know. Odd.

The staging was incredibly long. Partly due to the trial site, but also I think just partly the way the trial was run. I think part of our issue in containers was simply the insanely long wait time - Sypha's boredom was off the charts. We had probably 10-12 staging areas, beyond simply waiting in the line at the steward's area. By the time we even got to the search area ...she was out of her mind with boredom.

There's also the issue with the level of scent AKC uses verses NACSW. AKC uses a drop of oil per q-tip which is way, way stronger than NACSW. That's actually strong enough for a human to smell in the search areas...can be weird for our dogs who are trained on much lower levels of odor.

Also far far more expensive than NACSW!

MC, I agree with you and I have talked to Eve about it, too. I like NACSW's venue so much better, however the sites are so far from us. I like the organization, the set ups, everything. However, we entered Kiri in several trials this Spring and they were all cancelled due to Covid and there was no refund. Now, her ORT requirements are changed and she has to get updated before going on in NW1.
It seems in your area and back east they have many more shows and closer to each other. Nothing closer to us now for a trial than traveling 400-500 mi one way. We have to stay with NACSW to get Kiri's ROM. UKC, AKC are not accepted. It probably sounds like I am rambling - I have one foot out the door and my mind going elsewhere.

I know there's a lot of grumbling about changing the ROM requirements to allow the Scent Work Novice title (SWN) to be a qualifying title for the ROM in addition to the NW1. I don't think the SWN is as hard to achieve as an NW1, however, I also think it may be on the same level as some of the other sport titles that qualify - a CD, for example. I think when the NW1 was added it was the only real scentwork title out there...it's something I think the ROM committee should consider.
