Condensed from Article above:

"Deputies arrived to find a Laura Hurst, 36, Battle Ground, on the floor with an 8-foot python wrapped around her neck.

Medics pronounced the woman dead."
.....

She knew her stuff. She knew what she was doing, he said. She didn't fear any of them. So, no matter how maybe aggressive (a snake) was during breeding season, how defensive it was, she never let that phase her.

Ken, you don't quite get it..

Those were punishment options listed as an exercise by LaDi. They aren't in effect currently. They would have to be handed out (in stages) by a Mod. Punishment for Mods could say, be assigned by co-Mod and majority of CT contributers. (Gotta' finally get some order & "discipline" on CT as we approach the 1000 page milestone)

Me, too, I like all his non-horror stuff. I remembered the name of the guy he co-authored something with - Peter Straub, and I actually got one of his books (Floating Dragon) which was pretty good. I wish I could remember the one he wrote with King, maybe The Talisman? I just can't remember, but it was pretty good. The two of them have similar styles.

Anyway I had a can of fat (probably mostly from bacon) in the refrigerator--and I had to go shopping for the lye (Leslie didn't have a clue what it even was)--my memory is pretty foggy since Les' was 14 or 15 then and it must have been 50 years ago--but it had to be cooked and it stunk! We got a couple of mini-bars of dark brown smelly soap out of it and Leslie got an A for the project.

It reminded me of the project I was required to do when I spend the second grade with my grandmother. I was supposed to make butter--the instruction were for those who didn't have a real churn--took a quart mason jar and a couple of cups of whipping cream--shake until butter formed.

My grandmother sighed--went to the store for the whipping cream and dug me up a mason jar (she did a lot of canning so there was no shortage of those--I spend the entire evening shaking the jar--nothing changed it was still whipping cream when my bedtime arrived and I was in tears. My grandmother sighed--turned up the baseball game she'd been listening to so she could hear it in the kitchen. She took the mason jar and whipping cream away from me and dug out the hand operated egg beater--poured the cream into a bowl and whipped it for two or three minutes and I watch wth amazement as it turned into butter.

She gave me the egg beater to scrape the butter off the beater and she to a piece of cheesecloth and wrong the liquid out of the butter--put the butter in a small jar and said "Take this to school and tell them it's what you got after shaking the jar for two hours--DO NOT tell anyone about the egg beater".

I eventually learned to hate school projects--mine or anyone elses.

ABTLH
Oh, my soap recipes use vegetable oils. I usually use a combination of olive oil, coconut oil (for lather), and either cocoa butter or palm kernel oil (for hardness). My lye is measured out in grams, dissolved in water, and the oils heated slowly to about 100 degrees, then combined with the lye water and whisked (with the essential oils) until it thickens a bit. Then I pour it into a mold and insulate it with a comforter overnight, then cut the block into bars. My standard batch is 16 bars.

The first time I made butter, before I got a cow, but I was planning on it so I wanted to practice, I did the Mason jar thing and had about the same results you did. I finally got mad and stuck my grandma's wooden spoon (I still have that spoon) into the jar of whipped cream and beat the hell out of it, and like magic, I had a blob of butter in about 30 seconds! LOL! Now I have an electric churn which will do two quarts of cream at a time, and depending on stage of lactation and time of year, that churn will make butter in as little as 6 minutes, or as long as an hour. Right after calving, and on summer pasture makes the best, and fastest butter. Late in lactation and on winter hay makes paler butter that takes way longer to break. Still good, though, no matter how long it takes!

I think you think I talk too much, am I right? If you think THIS is bad, you should spend a day with me in person. If I don't have someone (human or animal) to talk to, I'll talk to myself, and I've been known to talk to inanimate objects as well. If this stupid keyboard wasn't so hinky, I'd be saying even MORE on my morning posts! But I get tired of banging on one key over and over when it doesn't respond, or backspacing to correct a key that registered a hit that I wasn't trying to hit. Flat keyboard, long(ish) nails, bad combination. So count your lucky stars!

Only if LaDi is being "punished", otherwise she can talk to her imaginary CT "friend", like she always does...

It was a chilly one too; 32 degrees when I left the house but no wind and not a cloud in the sky

Great pics as always, TN!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So let me get this straight. You were pouting because you were left OFF a CT Punishment List, due to my careless oversight ??

Did you ever ponder that you might have been considered a CT "Angel" and never considered for the list...

Only SP would assume that about herself....until she sees herself bottom of list...
