Denny,

I feel your pain--it's so hard even when you know it's the right thing to do.

I got cured the hard way by the stray that came to apply for a live in position at the house we swore had a sign out front for indigent kitties. I kept her--I had her for 8 years--she was the odd eyed white cat I've talked about here--California isn't the ideal place for white kitties who like to hang out and sleep in the sun. She lost both ear tips to cancer--my vet cropped her and she ended up with ears that looked like little bear ears. And she didn't get to be an outside kitty anymore--no more lounging in the sun.
And she developed IBD later in her life--she lost a lot of weight (a small cat anyway she was 3 pounds when I bit the bullet and took her in for her last trip to the vet.

I really, really didn't want to let her go--and swore I'd never ever keep any one of my pets beyond their time. So I really do know how you feel...

There's never ever anything easy about losing one of the pets you've had for most of their life (or in the case of one of my cats who lived to 21--had lived with me through a lot of good and bad times and 30% of my life was with that cat).

I'll think good thoughts for you--I'm sorry it's come to this for Striker....

Guilty as charged, Kenny. I hurt my lower back in the gym when I was about 22 or 23...My friend and I were doing heavy squats and instead of us going all the way down which is bad for your knees, we put a bench behind us and we would slowly go down till we barely felt our butt touch the bench which meant our upper legs were parallel to the floor, then go back up. Well you-know-who was feeling his oats that day and I put on another 50 pounds. I went down and ended up going too low and sitting on the bench which transferred all the weight from my legs onto my back and that's all she wrote. The next day I had my then-wife take me to the ER because I couldn't even walk by myself but the military doc, bless his heart, did absolutely nothing except touch the bottom of my feet and ask me if I could feel that and then he gave me the magic pills, 800mg of motrin. No X-rays, nothing. Since that day, I can't lay or sleep on my stomach, and the littlest thing can cause my back to go out on me and go into spasms for days. Every now and then the sciatica joins in on the fun. Good times LOL. It is one of the reasons I go on as many hikes with Mocha as possible - I *think* walking helps build my posture and helps with my lower back. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Oh yeah, I love biscuits and almost anything--butter and jam dripping off all sides.

And Kenny--I used t love biscuits with gravy and sausage until I ate some that was being served with the free breakfasts at some motel at a dog show--they were advertising biscuits and gravy with sausage. Oh boy--my friend looked at it and said it looked like it had been sitting there for awhile and passed on it. I should have. For the next 24 hours I had the next best thing to whatever it is you get for things like potato salad that's been sitting out on the picnic table in 90 degree weather for several hours.

Kind of put me off biscuit with gravy and sausage.

I missed a whole page somehow--had to go back and find it and all the stuff about biscuits, chili etc.

And here's a recipe for a quick and dirty dish that my Mexican friends call Mexican bean soup. This is just to prove I'm not a purist when it comes to canned beans.

One pound (more or less) of hamburger browned, drain fat
One can each of three kinds of beans. One has to be kidney beans the other two can be anything--I usually make sure one is chili beans and the other is either black beans or pinto beans.
One can of corn
One onion chopped
Two cans of diced tomatoes with chili's (Mexican style)
One package of medium or hot taco seasoning
One package of ranch dressing mix
If I have some around I also throw in some sweet peppers--green, red or yellow.

When you get to the package of taco seasoning follow the package directions--heat to a boil reduce heat to a simmer for awhile.

The original recipe I got was for a vat of this stuff--calls for multiplying everything by 2. I divided that recipe by 2 to get it more reasonable for me--and I generally freeze a couple of containers of this--it freezes well.

It takes more time to open the cans of beans, corn and tomatoes than anything else. But it's fast and easy for the unexpected van load of people who were at the dog show with you and came home for a visit and we all ended up starving but didn't want to go out.

ABTLH

Oh yeah, the weather forecast--dull and cloudy had rain overnight and more predicted for today and tomorrow (but it's supposed to reach 60 degrees--in the meantime it's cold in here--I'm taking the cats and the dogs and going back to bed--I've got a good Nancy Kress novel (scifi) to entertain me.

Sure it is MC -- sure it is ! Have you read about alan j. Chili ? You eat that and you won't be thinking about your migraines - just say 'n'
Well, I did eat some chili yesterday, but I got a horrible migraine (anyway?) and have been out of commission since yesterday. Still feels like an ice pick in my brain that someone is just...shoving around in there. Ugh. Maybe I need different chili?

Seriously, this one is kind of rough. I'm home from work, it's been more than 24 hours, no sign of letting up. Yuck.

Funny...I was just thinking about the "AJ Special" ...just yesterday............

Scott forbids me to make anything spicey or that includes Taco seasonings.............back during the early years of our marital bliss...........

I used some taco seasoning to make some dish......Scott was in a fetal position for 3 full days.

Scott is no longer a team player.........he will no longer eat spicy foods.........at all......

Thank you, Kenny.

It's never easy with any animal. But, horses tend to crash to the ground. And, I am incapable of not looking. Mostly because I have to see it to believe it, plus I am holding the lead rope. I just have to pull my big girl pants up and deal with it.

He's a beautiful horse even with the weight issue and I love him. I am making the best decision I can for him.

Thanks again.

It is going to suck not having a pasture ornament.

I love Sriracha sauce! It pretty much goes with EVERYTHING!

Good stuff!

But it didn't love him so much--and I got the brunt of it in the bedroom--I'd wake up in the middle of the night because Bruce was tossing and turning and yanking all the covers off of me and then slinging them back over me.

And my eyes would be burning and I'd be gasping for air. Eventually I'd wake up enough to open all the windows and the slider to the patio and escape out to sleep on the couch in the back room where the television lived (so that it was close to the kitchen).

Putting the hot sauce on the table and the ground up red peppers didn't fix the problem for him--he'd be ladeling hot sauce (and it wasn't actually tabasco but a hot 'Lousiana' sauce) and spoonsfuls of red pepper--I'd be saying Bruce--"you're going to regret that"--everyone else at the table would laugh and someone was sure to say "Not at much as you'll regret it..."

That is funny. My Ex thought it would be funny to fart and throw the covers over my head while I was sleeping. Needless to say, he got his! Paybacks are hell! I farted on his face while he was sleeping. Pissed him off. Hey! What comes around goes around.

I've asked this before on this thread. Who had the old donkey, that the school kids would come and look at?

Beau doesn't want me to talk about donkeys. He won't let me have one.

Seriously, this one is kind of rough. I'm home from work, it's been more than 24 hours, no sign of letting up. Yuck.
I've never encountered anyone with this bad of a case of migraines.

When I was 16-ish I had them so bad a few times that they would lay me out.

Now they just give me a minor headaches and jack with my eyesight.

I am so very sorry you have to live with this.

I can't believe there is no fix for yours.

Guess it's time for Mister to let me drive the ZTrak.

It didn't come home from the dealership and unloaded in this shape!

Scuffy!

I've already confirmed this!

You and I do not snore.

Crap! If I call the bluff, Mister will break out his phone and record. He probably shouldn't do that. I might catch him on the toilet pooping.

Tit for Tat Cuz!

I sure miss Bad Johnny.

How many weeks has it been?

Even though sometimes he's gone so long without where he is at.

Where are you STJ, and when are you coming back?

Hope the migraine is easing, MC. Does wind bother you? We've just had a day or so of it and I think it might be headed your way.

If only the weather could hit some happy medium and just stay there for a bit. We're supposed to get some snow Wed. night; I hope you guys manage to avoid it.
