Thank you MC...

I have been dealing with this anchor around my neck since was a young teenager.

When it becomes a serious issue, I try to face it head on.

I would not wish this emotional or physical burden on anyone or their family.

Still... It is what it is...

John

Edit to say: In a way, I have been very fortunate. I have support and the financial means to deal with it.

Oh well...

Morning all!
Beautiful weekend..........lots of gardening and weed pulling. Dang shrimp weeds!!!!
Man ...once Scott gets his surgery the first week of November .....I will have a lot of work to do around here !!!!!
Thank goodness our winter is coming ..........will be less grass mowing...........then all I will have to deal with is EVERYTHING ELSE.........
But at least Scott will be on the mend.........some say painful surgery “rotator cuff surgery”...others says no big deal just takes a long time to heal and rehab...........anyone ever had this kind of surgery ............????
Either way .....we will get through it and to the other side........we have no choice.
Scott always follows doctor’s instructions so it should be fine ...in time.

Morning LadyDi…..Good morning everyone!

I haven't with the rotator - just Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis.....gone through physical therapy and cortisone shots in each shoulder. My right one still doesn't have full range yet. I had it in my left shoulder then a year later almost to the date I had it in my right....each about a year or more of recovery.

Hope all goes well with Scott's surgery and recovery. As you said it may just take some time. I know one guy at work who had surgery for rotator and he was back swinging the golf clubs in not time - at least it seemed so.

LOL! Mocha may take a dim view of someone coming through the gate and walking off with my smoker. Well, unless you have bananas, cucumbers or watermelon...then you can take whatever you want While you're in the backyard, could you water our plants? And if the grass looks a little high to you, feel free to jump on the riding mower. I can even leave a battery out for you in case you want to do some weed eating as well.

Now see, that's a problem with getting up late...everyone has already said what I want to--
So John--we'll miss you here; there'll be a hole in our comments for sure (WWJS--what would John say?). But I'll be able to use smilies whenever I want, at least. (devil's grin)

I guess we all have things we need to look at and fix in our lives--but it seems so much easier to turn our heads and look the other way to keep from staring into those dark places. Facing them head on takes strength. Admirable, really.

Sending prayers...or healing thoughts...or...well heck, I'll be thinking of you, however you want to say it. Best wishes and strength to you.

Hey 4x4, very brave of you to lay out your personal problems on this forum, good luck at the facility and come back rejuvenated.

At the level of treatment place charging that kind of fee, you might rub shoulders with some left coast's celebs? Take good notes at the meetings so that your chicken thread peeps might benefit in the future... I apologize for any kidding around in previous CT posts that might have been offensive to you.

Any insights you learn at the rehab maybe could be shared later on to help us or our love ones from falling into the same trap.

I better get this off today then--I wish you luck (JTS--if it weren't for the fact that I know my ex is dead I'd be asking if I wasn't married to you? but JTS was an appropriate designation for him too--great guy but there were some issues that went along with the alcohol).

We'll be thinking about you--but you should be back in time for Toadie's 14th Birthday Party (now you have something to look forward to...)

Guess I'll have to take up John's role as west coast greeter of new additions to the DT (and even the CT).

Hey Lady Di--I've never needed rotator cuff surgery but one of my really close dog show friends (vet tech, breeder, handler) has now had both shoulder rotator cuffs repaired. As long a Scott will really adhere to Dr's orders he'll be OK. You can't show dogs (or do a lot of stuff that vet tech's normally do) if you have bad rotator cuffs.

My friend put it off and put it off and finally her surgeon gave her the big ultimatum (after she'd had steroid injections multiple times to keep her going until it was "convenient" to have the surgery.) They did one at a time and she went through rehab until she was back to normal (her surgeries were both very successful and she was VERY determined to follow rehab protocols to the hilt).

She said that the aftermath of the surgery was no more painful than all of the problems involved with not doing the surgery. She also said the first week post surgery (both times) was the worst and then it got better from there on. She also said that by the time the first surgery and rehab was complete she couldn't wait to have the other rotator cuff repair.

So tell Scott we'll be thinking of him and John--and count yourself lucky that at least there won't be so much grass to mow...

I know--have John ship you his left over booze --you can use it to kill the pain of having to take over Scott's jobs while he's laid up.

I'd offer to come and help Lady Di but I still can't really bend over and you can tell this has been the case all spring and summer by the quantity of weeds that have accumulated over the summer.

If you find a good (cheap) landscaper (or even a cheap weed puller) send them my way when you are through with them.

This internet can be such a strange for me. I have always looked at every thing and divide it by half and some thing more just to think what is real. This is one of the few places other than real life that i interact with people and i am not so good at it but i am trying.
Johns post this morning put such a damper on me today , i just cannot shake him off. He is just a guy who says stuff on a forum but he has consumed thoughts...stange so strange of me to have so much concern for someone who i really do not know!

I hope it's OK I join in here (Ken told me I could!). I obviously haven't caught up on all 880-some pages, and likely never will, so I'm just jumping in here at the end, for better or worse. I have chickens and cows and stuff.
Well, Hello, Lannie!

That's what I suggest you do, just jump in!

There is really nothing else to do, but jump in. Unless, you want to lag behind for weeks, like Aunt B and then you have to play catch up even harder. Someone here will "splain" what's going on.

Welcome fellow burner!

I don't have a water bill either. In my opinion, well water tastes better than city water. It does give my coffee pot a kidney stone, though. I just remove the stone with vinegar periodically.

How much acreage do you have, Lannie?

How much do we really know anyone, even if they are right there in our "real" lives and not "just" someone typing on a forum??

I remember as a little kid asking my dad, when some family difficulties came up, why all of our neighbors had such good lives and ours was so messed up--he just shook his head and said, "There's no such thing as a Leave it to Beaver family."

Sometimes I don't think I even know myself...

All this to say that it's sorta an illusion to think that you really know anyone...

Edited to add: This post is in response to Alanj...SP, as usual, stuck her nose into the middle of everything, changed the subject, destroyed our discussion's continuity and derailed the whole philosophical discourse. SP

And (drum roll please) a metal garbage can that contained all metal (cans flattened) and about twice a year my aunt would cart it off to the town dump (there was a section where you dropped metal stuff off and about 4 times a year a guy who bought metal would come around and weigh it and take it away and the funds would go into the town coffers for stuff like summer programs for kids.

And when I spent the winter in Plymouth Vermont--we rented a house on an ex Dairy Farm that used to belong to one of the Presidents family (can't remember who now--I've been sitting on my sciatic nerve too long and it's killing me. Recycling (anything plastic, metal or glass) went in plastic bags in the big main barn until we had a full load of them-then we took them to a recycling place in Woodstock (the closest town of any size). Garbage went up the back hill (anything that could be turned into mulch) and anything paper was burned in the wood stove in the living room. No trash...

Now that I think of it when I was a kid that was what we had to do--burn the trash, break up any big pieces of wood to burn and flatten all the cans.

Huh...

Now you know a third, Cuz!

I am a tree hugger type person. Hate progress. Worry about hay prices and where we are going to feed cattle when we (not me) greedy people run out of places to feed our food.

I think Lannie fits in just fine here.

Lannie,

The name Lannie doesn't tell me if you are a boy or a girl. And, I am not reading backwards for the answer, so you might was well just tell me.
