Funny little story from Spock's school visit for Read With Me today....

Was with second of three students at reading session in library. We were reading a new book with Spock calmly sitting between us.

New book was, "The Skunk With No Stripes" about "Little Skunk", a baby skunk born without white stripes, like his older brother and sister skunk had. His brother and sister skunk tease Little Skunk, saying he is not a real skunk, since he had no stripes. As the story progressed, Little Skunk went around the forest asking animals what he was. First visit was to a cat which little skunk thought he was since he also had fur and a bushy long tail. The cat said "No, Little Skunk you're not a cat since you don't purr" Well, Little Skunk went to several other small animals before reaching a squirrel.

Suddenly, I realized that if this little 3rd grade student starts saying the word "squirrel" when reading to Spock, he's liable to jump up to a full squirrel alert, look around and start barking! So, I advised my student to say "You Know Who" in place of the word "squirrel" so we could get through the book with no incidents.....

Worked out great and oh yeah....The story finishes when Little Skunk and his animal friends asked a Black Bear if he is a bear, since he was also black and furry. The large Bear gets angry at Little Skunk for asking and saying he's not a bear nor a skunk, since he has no stripes. The Bear says "If you are a skunk you'd be able to spray me, and you can't do that." Of course at that time, Little Skunk turns around and douses the big black bear with a stinky spray, at which the bear runs away.

Both Little Skunk's siblings and his new animal friends, including
"You Know Who", then exclaim that he is indeed a skunk!
I was picturing one of the kids saying squirrel and Spock going into a full squirrel alert LOL, that was my morning chuckle

I just looked at the 10-day forecast and we're going to stay in the 90's all the way through early October, with no rain in sight. This is getting old, fast
I know some people love summer and can't get enough of laying by the pool or going to the beach but my favorite season is fall. Or should I say, used to be because it seems lately, all we do is summer, winter, summer

I just got here. Haven't started reading backwards yet!

I was busy thinking I had money, and then paid the bills. Doing better than I thought! Still less rich than I was before, though. Oven part took away my Rustine fix budget. I go absolutely nuts when an oven is broke. I only crave oven recipes when the oven is broke.

Now I will start reading backwards.

Mister just did the same thing. He was mowing when I got home and left the mower running outside the gate. Met him at the back gate and he followed me in to ask me where the long flashlight was. He also asked me why I didn't have his headlights on the mower yet. Told him, that's your job, you won't let me drive it. Found the long flash light in the drawer where it is supposed to be. Have no clue how that worked without using one of his hands in order to drive the mower.

Speaking of headlights! My other headlight on Guz burned out. Should have bought two like the Auto Zone clerk suggested!

I am one of those that likes Spring and Summer. Fall pisses me off and gets me all depressed because I am cold natured and know I am going to be miserable for some months.

I believe they recognize their peeps vehicles via sound.

When Ktrin was in my life, my old roomie told me that she was at the door before I got there, and I was still 10 minutes out. No matter if I stopped somewhere else to get something or not.

I sure like that pool!

If I save up all my vacation time for house sitting services, will you let me get in your pool?

Heck! You and Mrs don't even have to be there. You can go on vacation and I will be the nosy neighbor house sitter. I will have a full report for when you all get back.

I am telling you it is REAL!

I am trying to figure how to manipulate time off going to the crappy building that work is going to put us in.

And, before Beau spouts off, everyone at work is aware that if that was my MO I wouldn't be saying it out loud. Everyone at work knows that is my wish.

We had a little group meeting and I actually said I hope the new building burns down before we have to go there. I got scolded in front of everyone by my supervisor. She said that wasn't nice. Everyone else laughed. I know that wasn't funny in a sensitive situation, but this was maybe 8 people that feel the same way. Corporations really don't care about the lives of the little people that they are disrupting.

Speaking of headlights! My other headlight on Guz burned out. Should have bought two like the Auto Zone clerk suggested!

I am with the fall time! Cooler weather without being too cold. Plus the fall activities - Octoberfests, drive up to NC to pick apples, pumpkin pies, and the mowing of the yard will go away for the cooler months at some point! Don't have to worry about headlights then If I only had a riding lawnmower

Drinking coffee (Sumatra) and working on piano homework I forgot to do....theory part of the lessons....ugh

Beau got sent to the woodshed.......because when issued a ticket .....he was looking forward to this visit to the shed.........to the point of ....threatening Mel with bringing DT cougars handcuffs to the shed session ...which caused Mel to “almost” choke on her eggs because she was reading this post early in the morning.

Beau proclaims to borrow handcuffs...trying .....to lead all of us to believe he does not own a pair of his own.

This has never been disclosed before ...but I own a company that produces handcuffs #safelock.......records show Beau has purchased several pairs of cuffs that have been shipped directly to his address.

Yeah that deserves a woodshed ticket!!!!
