(incidentally, the Fitz and the Fool Trilogy, mentioned in this article, is now finished; the Soldier Son trilogy is NOT set in the same world as the rest and Fitz's "dog" [when he was an adult] is a wolf--which brings a much more interesting perspective to the stories than a dog would.)
Thank you Mel, (and you TN for the review)

I knew I'd read the original post and wrote down the author (somewhere--I'm prone to writing important information down on the backs of envelopes and toss the envelopes without checking for notes to myself). This time I wrote it down in a little notebook that I keep for just library information.

Now all I have to do is try (once again) to navigate the "new and improved" Multnomah Country Library web site. They improved it so much you can hardly find anything. It's embarrassing when I have to go and find one of the librarians and whine to them because once again I can't find the place where you can ask for "Author". (used to be really easy--practically the first thing that showed up when you opened the main page was a little list that included author, title and a couple of other things I never used. Now you get something called a dashboard and a bunch of stuff that I would never use (like a list of books you've read that you want to review so other people can also read them--really? Geeze!

I didn't know the term "shotgun" a beer--it isn't that they weren't doing it when I was young and ignorant (several centuries ago) but that wasn't what they were calling in the suburban beaches of Seattle.

You aren't allow to drink beer on West Coast beaches either--and I'm not much of a beer drinker which might explain my ignorance--I could never figure out how guys could just open their throat and dump a whole can of beer down without drowning or puking!

But for many years my SO was a major league beer drinker and when the relationship was pretty new I borrowed his truck to move a bed for one of our roommates. I was about three blocks from the house (outgoing) when I got pulled over (surprising because I wasn't doing anything illegal) when the officer got to the window before he even looked inside he started yelling at me about how he TOLD me not to...that was as far he got because he started looking at an avalanche of beer cans that had rolled out from under the seat--hundreds of them. The cop looked at me and I looked at him and I must have looked horrified because he got a lot nicer--asked me if that was my truck--no, it wasn't, I borrowed it. Had I been drinking? No (and it was about 7:30 am on a week day morning). Was it Bruce's truck? Yes (and that really surprised me because it's not often that a policeman making a traffic stop knows the owner of the vehicle by their first name.)

It turned out later that Bruce had a zillion or so parking tickets and a fix-it ticket that involved getting a replacement sticker for the back license plate --the current year sticker was in place on the front plate but was missing from the back. What the cop had TOLD Bruce was to get that and pay the parking tickets and stop driving the truck until he did.

DUH!

He sent me on my way and told me to check for empty beer cans before I drove the truck again (When I took all the beer cans out of the cab--from under the seats, it turned out there were over a hundred--I stopped counting at that point.)

If they had starting doing refunds for cans and bottles in Washington State by then I could have made a lot of money returning a weeks collection of beer cans from the truck.

Yes, a few years ago I was complaining about an idiot who slammed on his brakes going downhill in the first snow of the winter--I was behind him and was trying not to brake so fast that I'd end up doing the same thing he was doing (spinning and a threat to all around him)--I ended up in the center turn lane and facing the wrong direction--Kenny said the proper technique for making lemonade out of lemons in that case would have been for me to say "Here, hold my beer..." while handing it to the passenger riding shotgun--gunned it so that the truck finished the spin and I could then have simply gone my merry way in the right direction.

I told someone else that story and they looked it up on Utube too--they said the same thing.

But obviously Kenny's directions on what to do made a big impact on me--I'm still talking about it years later (mostly because it made me laugh so hard I dumped my coffee.

Beau back and EXHAUSTED, found a reliable carpenter to finish steel siding my garage // and we did a few days of odds & ends, and a few days of hanging commercial doors...10 x 10 ft.

STJ - now that you appropriately named your stunn'ing & bitch'en truck
BLACK BART...my potty mouth, has Zipped closed...RubyRed is shaking a little, sitting in the driveway.
- sorry to play possum, this week...the ladder work, finding tools, getting supplies, etc. is tiring
- took me 4 hours, just to find the needed machine screws, as the doors was missing a bag of hardware
- nothing goes as planned, but real Happy with the new guy and work we did together
- best friends already, they don't call Larry >> PapaBear for noth'in

LDI & AJ & 4x4 and others, nice ya all missed me - I will forward RubyRed file, in a few days.
- headed out for Popeye chicken now

^^ I probably missed answering other replies...but I haven't started reading backwards like AuntBug.

Kelly is lethargic today, XRays and badly sprained toe on front right paw.
- must of sprained it, jumping out of Dad's Silverado

Sorry your Kelly is on the mend.

B67, just bought one of these top rated car ramps for Eva (& Spock) who's had trouble getting in/out of back seat of my Escape during her first TD school visit last week. (vs. my Civic which has been transferred to daughter after 2-months of standard shift training)

https://amazon.com/gp/product/B071942ZM8/

I got the 66" L 2-part folding version which fits good. Eva has some arthritis in front legs and both are taking Cosequin tabs daily. I put driver seat all the way forward and we conducted a training session with all three dogs, using HV treats. Eva and Lanah learned the ramp right away, but big scaredy-cat Spock is afraid of the ramp and wants to bypass and jump directly up to back seat. Eventually, he'll learn.....

(folded ramp fits well behind driver seat)

Fun Fact Friday!
Do you know why many cats have a saggy belly?

The technical term for this flap of skin and fat, which often feels like a half-full water balloon, is the “primordial pouch,” and you can also observe this feature on some big cats like lions and tigers. This bit of loose skin and padding at the belly provides extra protection and insulation to your cat during fights when a cat’s practice of “bunny kicking” with the rear paws could result in severe abdominal injury to their opponent. In fact, cats have excess skin covering the entire body which helps them squirm out of the grasp of other predators.

Another function of the abdominal flap is to allow the cat freedom of movement to fully stretch and extend the back legs when in full stride. It’s also theorized that in our cats’ wild ancestors, the flap allowed the stomach to stretch to hold extra food when necessary, such as when gorging after a large kill in the wild.

While this pouch is part of your cats anatomy, you still want to make sure your fur baby maintains a healthy weight.

I still have old Amy's old ramp, from a dozen years ago.
- it also folds in half, but heavy plastic & I pinched my finger in it once
- hardly want to junk up my truck, finding a spot of it
- Mrs67 RAV4, easier to jump into
- that painful "boo-boo", was not to my liking

And a fact to top B67's:

Monitoring weight in a cat....one thing you can do is lightly knead or run that furry flap through your fingers. It should feel like a skin fold or a jelly-like half-full water balloon, and should sway back and forth when the cat walks. It shouldn't be firm and relatively immovable--that would mean your cat is overweight.

So there, B67!!

Good Evening Peeps!

Quite the melancholy day we have, here.

We are all hugging your family, Ken.

It would help if, Cuz, would get her production perfected!

I don't have anything to compete with in that contest. I meet or pass 2-3 drones of Guz every day!

Chin up, Kenny!
