Mocha can be quite goofy (hence the nickname "ninny") and she's a big lovebug when it comes to affection with people she knows BUT, she also has a serious side which has really come out in the last few years as she's fully matured. She's very, very protective of our home and property, and more so of us, especially my wife. Mocha loves me, but my wife is her human and Mocha absolutely worships the ground she walks on.

I wish some of you lived closer, or we had someone here that specializes in behavior because I just don't have the knowledge or experience to figure out why Mocha is now ok with about 90% of the folks we meet while walking but there are a select few that get her agitated when she sees them. No lunging, barking, or growling like she used to do before but her ears will go up, she won't take her eyes off them, and she'll start (what I call) huffing...and if they look at us or start talking, then she'll bark.

I've been watching her for the last year or so, trying to figure out what exactly it is about certain people that gets her going but for the life of me, I have no clue. If it was only long haired or dark-skinned people, or people wearing certain clothing, it would be easy but there's no rhyme or reason to it. She does like women better than men, that I do know.

Heck, I guess I'm just happy that I don't have to drive 45 minutes onto the army base where I work anymore to walk her way back in the boonies where I knew we'd never meet another soul but still, she's my dog and I'd love to know why certain situations stress her out so I could maybe help her.

Oh, one thing she does not like, is motorcycle riders. If we're sitting at a red light, and a motorcycle pulls up next to us, all hell breaks loose. Not sure if it's the noise or a person suddenly appearing next to the car window.

I do not know how Mila will act as we haven't been able to walk her on leash yet....she is ok-ish with people so far in the house.

Molly on the other hand....she also did not like people/dogs behind her. If she wasn't trotting sideways looking back she was always turning her head. O.D. didn't care as much unless it was another dog.

O.D. also didn't like motorcycles or trucks that passed.

If someone bad came into the house - I know Molly would have protected....O.D. maybe not so much

Amazing the similarities and differences dobes have with each other.

The temp in the cave stays at 58 degrees year round and it's really nice to get close to the opening on a hot summer day and feel that cool air coming out

The panic is starting to set in for my area. Gas stations are full of people with 5 gallon cans , Lowes was on the edge of being unbearable. I am charging the batteries for the generators , have to put a Voltage Regulator on one of the PTO driven ones tomorrow which i procrastinated about doing since the last storm. Tonight i will sharpen my chainsaw blades and cages set up for the dogs
I am doing all this so i will be ready for the next one because this one is going to the Carolinasbe careful modm (frank).
In and among-st all this i hope to close on a piece of property on Friday...wish me luck!

Those novels, while not as successful or well-known as her work under the Hobb name, are every bit as good—especially the hard-to-find Wizard of the Pigeons., an urban fantasy set in Seattle that plays around with Authurian legend in fascinating ways. If you want to start with the author’s earliest writing, this is your jumping-on point."

Oooohh.....I may have some research and shopping to do.
Mel,
Ok I'm a bookworm, always have been, always will be...I just found the e-book Wizard of the Pigeons, now what are your favorite books/series by Robin Hobb?

Okay.

Denny Rant time!

Lost another chicken today!

It was one of my green egg layers!

I don't know what the hell the problem is. They get fed and hydrated. They have been in lock down, no free ranging.

I wouldn't put it past my neighbors to have done something. Couldn't go back and check the camera, as it was not reset after the power outage. The kid over there sure took a long time to stretch in front of my driveway before he took a "jog"! Like he was waiting to see my reaction.

Lady Di, my first CT Cousin.

It's called getting away from your real family when they hold the reins.

When I moved to Oklahoma, I was being evicted from my rental home after moving closer to family out in the middle of Kansas, after a $hitty breakup, after getting laid off from a long term job/career? I had a Doberman in tow.

Started out trying to get back on my feet with my parents, didn't work out. Dad didn't like dogs in the house.

Moved over to my brother's house. Dogs were acceptable to him.
He's military and I am not. Didn't work out.

Lived in a FEMA trailer on 3 acres, worked 2 jobs and now have a doable home.

That is my, "Kiss My Ass", statement to anyone telling me and bossing me and trying to mold me.

Dang! I feel better now!

I am not even going to go back and proof read!

Someone will step up to the plate and do that, right?

All this crap started 7 years ago?

Geez! I not even 54 yet!

What took me so long to put my foot down?

I would like it noted that I liked and thanked you before Cuz did!

Oh no - just paid a bundle to put up the fence after remnants of Michael came through.

Maybe we will get lucky and it veers out into the ocean.....

That is funny as that is actually another name I go by! - My brother at times calls me that and I was found under a rock
