What is your best road side fix ever?

Burton Rawling Example:
I've had a few memorable ones - my first truck 1968 Fargo ($100)….
I pulled out to pass a VW Bug and the throttle return spring snapped. You could imagine the sheer horror of all of those single barrel slant-6 ponies unleashed! I pulled off the road with the carb wide open, shut it off and my buddy (in the pic) and I got to work to figure out how to keep going. I found an elastic band under the seat and with some finessing it seemed like a great idea. Let's say it sort of worked....until it didn't. The carb went wide open again, luckily only a block from a parts store. Lesson learned that day - with the intake and exhaust manifolds on the same side of the engine, a rubber band will cook quite quickly. Note to self- get a better rubber band!

Tom Dudak I have 2.
Used my girlfriends pantyhose as a fan belt to get home on. Second, throttle rod broke, had some clothesline in the trunk for Moms clothesline, knocked a hole in the firewall tied it to the carb throttle ran it through the firewall and held onto to it, pulling to go faster and let it drop to slack to stop. Drove it like that a week.

Beau Example:
1966 Rambler - Alternator went out in the pitch of darkness, about 50 minutes from home. Knowing my 12v battery would eventually die (and engine could die), so turned AM radio & my headlights off / as soon as I was able to tailgate another car @ 50 mph (bumper to bumper). Even met a police car, headed the other way and he ignored my car. The driver I followed, must of realized the car trouble I was in, so he didn't speed off on me. Got home safely and charged the battery & changed the alternator the next day.
- My 1st car at 16 y/o was a 1966 Valiant 4 door, with the slant 6. Drove it daily for 3 straight years, but no good story to tell...it was far to reliable.

Post away Chicken Hawks
- I can hardly wait to read STJ's, car fix stories on Woodworth Ave, MI...8 mile road.

(A little to "high-brow" for the CT??? )
I do like the The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!

These are the opposite of "high-brow" but are what I am currently working for piano
They are short - No it is not me playing! I wish

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeLo7logA0s My favorite of this group
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_u8GcHrdvw - I like this one as well
bonus - I had just "learned" these from previous lessons -

They look so simple - but for me it is walking, talking, chewing gum, patting my head and rubbing my tummy all at once.

One day I will get to Liszt, Chopin, Bach (ahh Bach...tv show reference)

Yep! Time off is better!

Life is too short to be at work more than you have to!

If they would only let me work from home...

I would have so much vacation left!

On a side note, why has Ma been MIA so much lately?

Did her boss give her time off in exchange for money?
