My poor lawn is dying. They plant tall fescue here and it may do well in slightly cooler areas but IMHO, it's a horrible grass in places where the temps get this high and there's little rain during the worst part of summer. It looks great in spring and very early summer, and then again for about a month or so in the fall, but as soon as daytime temps get above 75, it starts going dormant and then dies in the later summer months. And yeah, I have tried watering the heck out of it before, to the tune of water bills in excess of $100 per month but it did little good, if any. I'm thinking of switching to a grass like Bermuda, or Zoysia, which goes dormant in cold weather but can take the heat and stays green all summer with minimal watering. Me, I don't care what my lawn looks like in winter, but I would like to have green in the summer time when I'm outside.
