No need to apologize, 4x4.

Some things are important to remember. Even when you don't want to.

Maybe some day we'll be able to stop repeating the past because...we remember.

Wanted to share what Terre/CP and I followed to work for a little bit this morning.

It doesn't take much to entertain us!

We like our partying low key!

Let's see if I can accomplish attaching something.

Let the Mrs have some chickens.

It's easy if your water, electricity and feed are in a central place. You also have to know how to shut a gate behind you, which my neighbors do not.

I am less worried about your Doberman eating your chickens than my neighbor's livestock coming over here to eat all the bark of my trees.

Let your Mrs have some chickens! They will poop you breakfast every morning!

I will try to find Garth Brooks road or Blake Shelton's road.

OR, we could start our first annual chicken hawk reunion and Kenny can come pick himself up! In his copter! I have such a brilliant mind.

No problem SP , we still have all the facility in place where we raised cattle , we could and did run 200 at a time , automatic waters , feeders , both for hay and grain , plus building + 37 acre feed lot !

Beau getting SICK of mudding drywall now.
- just want to get it done, I'm well past the fun stage / drive is killing me

-------------------

Probably from 1910's...enjoy !!

"Warshing Clothes Recipe" - imagine having a recipe for this ! ! !
Years ago a Texas grandmother gave the new bride the following recipe:
This is an exact copy as written and found in an old scrapbook, spelling errors and all.

WARSHING CLOTHES
Build fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert.
Shave one hole cake of lie soap in boilin water.
Sort things, make 3 piles
1 pile white,
1 pile colored,
1 pile work britches and rags.
To make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth, then thin down with boiling water.
Take white things, rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard and boil, then rub colored don't boil just wrench and starch.
Take things out of kettle with broom stick handle, then wrench, and starch.
Hang old rags on fence.
Spread tea towels on grass.
Pore wrench water in flower bed. Scrub porch with hot soapy water.
Turn tubs upside down.
Go put on clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs. Brew cup of tea, sit and rock a spell and count your blessings.

Why not just post some signs reading "Dis way to Hoosier Country ---->"?

Obviously, you didn't follow our advice to perform "vent checks" on you new chicks when they first arrived.

Your chicken sexing skills might need some improvement... Next time, listen to your "peeps".

0554 Hours Possum Hunt!

What started out as an early morning Potty Break --->>> Possum Hunt, Wake all the Neighbors Up....

https://video.nest.com/clip/415cf1cc...d7458e2074.mp4

When the pack is on the trail of a possum on fence or tele wires, it's very hard to snap them out of it. (Notice Eva shifts into overdrive, sneaking out)

In this case, DW proclaims "Pill" (daily pack Thyroid med/ Cosequin supp wrapped in thin ham slice) to break them off & lure pack back inside. For emergencies, normally I just slap my forearm and proclaim "Fly" and Mr. Spocko will head back a full speed to me no matter what he's doing- (to rescue me from the Fly..) didn't work this instance.

I love it Beau--maybe I should dig out the recipe for making your own paint remover (from my great grandmother) and sent to me by my mother when I had written to her (pre internet) complaining about having to strip a lot of paint and varnish from a boat my partner and I were working on. Must be from about the same era as Warshing Clothes was. I'll go look for it.

Yesterday was Peanut-butter cookies. Today, I am making buttermilk bread! Will be ready to put in the oven tomorrow around 4:00 - 4:30am.
I love your coiled cats and Mel's Trip as art but when it comes to bread I'll see your buttermilk bread and raise you a loaf of homey oatmeal bread.

Actually if it's home made I'll settle for about anything.

@ Beau...

I picked up a book years ago titled 100,000 Facts For The People. Published in 1876, It is filled with incredible information on just about every subject. Medicine... Agriculture... Cleaning...Veterinary and Animal Husbandry advice, etc.

I read it just for fun!

Let your Mrs have some chickens!
I think if Mrs wants chickens...I am not stopping her. I know who is boss! I think for her it is more of a thought vs really wanting some.

Yep sounds very good! Next Sunday I will be making ciabatta bread to take to work. Co-worker is bringing in some fig preserves.

- Glad I am not the only one. I know Mila is new and all but when she gets a scent it is near impossible to get her to come.

But then again it was hard with Molly as well. She had such a drive for chasing animals...lizards, squirrels, possums. Even if a bird is circling above she would try and get it....Her nickname was Molly Queen of the Wild Frontier.

O.D. was a bit easier to get in. She had different powers...her nicknames were O.D. Meister and O.D. wan Kenobi - she had mind powers to make us do what she wanted. She would stand in front of us - look at us....look at the door and look back....but only with her eyes. The eyebrows would go up and down. Finally she looks at us and the expression is silly human open the door! Or it was my mind to your mind - almost Spock like!

Obviously, you didn't follow our advice to perform "vent checks" on you new chicks when they first arrived.

Your chicken sexing skills might need some improvement... Next time, listen to your "peeps".

Success comes when people act together; failure tends to happen alone.

I didn't get to do my own vent check, Daddio!

Kenny was the free rare exotic one! The Hatchery was being mean and threw a "whatever" in!

Don't be challenging my chicken skills!

LOL

I pretty much knew surprise meant rooster. He was free!

He's also a big chicken!

When I went out yesterday or whatever day it was to get the pics, he knew I was coming for him and hid under all the girls. Best way to catch a chicken! Clump them all together and grab them when they think they can't be seen.

Dumb bird.

LOL

When the pack is on the trail of a possum on fence or tele wires, it's very hard to snap them out of it. (Notice Eva shifts into overdrive, sneaking out)

In this case, DW proclaims "Pill" (daily pack Thyroid med/ Cosequin supp wrapped in thin ham slice) to break them off & lure pack back inside. For emergencies, normally I just slap my forearm and proclaim "Fly" and Mr. Spocko will head back a full speed to me no matter what he's doing- (to rescue me from the Fly..) didn't work this instance.

Does DW put cheese on that pill?

Ham and cheese?

Beau only has one innocent question...for you SP:

- so does Free Rare Exotic rooster, have "a pair of visible thing'ies" intact ?

- we all want to know, but others to Chicken to ask here

- MEL, they made me do it.
- Larry pulled the smallest straw or tooth-pick

B67, those things you are talking about are inside the rooster somewhere. Not visible.
