It's crazy. It's now only 70ish degrees, and STORMING again (we didn't get those storms at my house yesterday). Supposed to storm all morning and stay in the mid-70s with way lower dew points today...nutty nutty weather.

When it gets hot here (90+) McCoy has a Swamp Cooler reflective vest made by Ruffwear. You soak it in water and the dog is good to go. I have tested it at 101 degrees in a mid afternoon sun. I lasted about 20 minutes and McCoy hadn't even started to pant.

We are lucky here. As the temperature rises, the humidity plummets. Today it will get in the mid to high 80's. By 3pm, the humidity should get down to below 25%. Lower humidity makes the vest very effective. Especially with a single coated short haired dog like a Dobe

Something a little different, for those that are housebound by the heat. 2 miniseries I'd like to mention (if you've already seen them, ignore LOL)

First, the miniseries from HBO - "Chernobyl" which is based in the events of the Chernobyl disaster back in 1986. Some people may find it a bit slow (I didn't), but HBO has a history of producing some excellent shows and I thought this one was no exception with great acting.

And one I just finished today was one from Showtime called "Escape at Dannemora" which was based on the escape of 2 inmates from the Clinton Correctional Facility in NY back in 2015. I really enjoyed this one, and binge watched all 7 episodes over the last 2 days.

RAIN! And the temps have dropped to the low 60's. Gusty winds--up to 60 mph!! No tornado warning though...we don't normally get any because we're so close to the mountains. Of course, when it rains and is windy like that, you can't open the windows, so we're still hot inside. But hopefully, the low temps will hang around.

They were predicting a high in the mid 80's for today, but it was had gotten up to 95 before the rain swept in. I was annoyed with the weatherman and hoping that he wasn't going to be just as wrong for the next few days

Your chicken is the biggest one of the entire flock. Mister made a comment about that when we were watering this morning. I hope she is a good egg layer. I had one of her breed when I lived in Kansas that would hide her eggs from us. Her name was Fatty Mcfatfat.

She succeeded in brooding chicks.

Couldn't keep up with where she was laying the eggs. She was hiding them everywhere. For instance on top of the coop, or a stored dog crate. Pretty much everywhere she could think of, where we wouldn't snatch her eggs. It was like an Easter egg hunt. We finally gave up and just let her do her thing. They call those hens broody, in case you didn't know.

She was a determined Mother!

Too cheap to pay for more than that!

Too cheap to pay for more than that!
Our upstairs TV's only have Firestick and over air HDTV. Just rescanned channels yesterday and found 80. Eliminated about 1/3 off channel list, which were religious, shopping or Spanish language, so left with about 50 channels.

FYI- Over the air HD frequencies changing soon before 2020, so you'll have to rescan on all TV's.

TVAnswers.org: Your TV channels may be moving frequencies. We're here to help.

I could definitely live with Internet only and over air channels, but DW can't, so we're stuck with paying cable bills for now....
As far as entertainment, IMO, not much worthwhile on current TV networks. Like, SP, I'd rather watch old reruns of The Rifleman or Big Valley or Twilight Zone or Star Trek episodes.

My DW loves Law & Order and The Closer. She gets mad at me when I point out the villain is usually the biggest name guest star character actor, because they must always have the dramatic confession sequence at the close of program. Also L&O always plays the creepy music when the investigators are questioning the perpetrator.

In today's crime dramas- villains are always the rich or high ranking corporate persons encountered by the LEO's.

We're over 40 miles from Nashville with hills in the way so the HDTV antennas don't pick up a lot. We have one of those antennas for our TV in the breakroom at work and only get about 10 channels. Here at the house, we have Rokus and we have YouTube TV and if we watch anything, it's HGTV so we can see what Chip and Joanne are up to Luckily I have a few coworkers who thrive on watching movies and shows and don't mind paying for DVD sets so every now and then I get to borrow and watch something they recommend. Every now and then I check what's up at Netflix (got it mainly for my daughter) or Amazon Prime.

I hate to gloat, but.....it's 74 here, humidity 49%, sunny with just a few clouds. Perfect Looks like MC is about the same.

It's OK, hot people; fall will be here before you know it.

I'll try to get our weather to spread across the country for you.

Nice story out of MN

Police rescue 2-year-old who drove battery-powered toy tractor to county fair

A Minnesota toddler escaped his parents' home and drove to a county fair in a battery-operated toy tractor. (Getty Images).
Minnesota toddler Kenneth Allen wanted to go to the county fair by any means possible; and he managed to get there, all on his own, thanks to his motorized John Deere toy tractor.

On Thursday evening, Kenneth’s parents Kristopher and Lynn Allen realized that their two-and-a-half year old son was missing, along with his tractor.

For about a week, Kenneth and his parents had watched the Chisago County Fair set up at the fairground less than two blocks from their home. Kenneth had obviously taken particular note.

Upon realizing Kenneth was gone, Lynn quickly dialed 911, later telling local Fox 9, “I was just scared, what was going through my mind was that someone had actually took him.”

Chisago County Sergeant Jason Foster, who was patrolling the fairground, was on the case. “We found him in about two or three minutes,” Foster tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “He has bright red hair. You could see him from a block away. As soon as the dispatcher said ‘bright red hair’ we stopped Kenneth and called his parents.”

Simultaneously, state representative Brian Johnson was also nearby and spotted Kenneth. “I overheard two women asking a young boy for his name near the entry gate of the fair,” he tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “As a retired Deputy Sheriff, I knew that something was amiss and I stepped in. Believing that this young child was at the fair on his own, I contacted the Chisago County Deputies at the fairgrounds for assistance.”

Sergeant Foster says he and his partner found Kenneth by the Tilt-a-Whirl. “He kept pointing at the ride. He was a little bit shy.”

Kenneth had driven out of his yard and, going one mile per hour, cruised down the sidewalk and around the block. He then traveled through a back entrance typically reserved for emergency vehicles, into the fair. “He’s quite the little driver,” Sergeant Foster tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

Kenneth’s parents were relieved and upset. "I was glad to see him, but the first thing I did was pop the hood, pulled his battery and said you’re grounded," Kenneth’s dad Kristopher told Fox 9. Kenneth’s tractor usually pulls a trailer, which he had abandoned for his jaunt to the fair, presumably to drive faster.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page quickly filled up with comments about the incident. “Good luck in a few years with that one, dad!” one commenter wrote. “Wait'll the little guy gets his learner's permit in 14 years, lol. Thank God all's well that ends well,” wrote another.

Sergeant Foster tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Kenneth was too small to ride the Tilt-a-Whirl. “But we would pass the hat around in the sheriff’s office and buy him a dozen tickets if his parents would let us.”
