Well, AD.

I'm here to tell you that I am an Angel! Beau said so, a long time ago! It's in black and white. I consider that a contract.

Just don't go back and look at my post about a Cali Driver here in OK!

We are all here on this thread because we are "just not right"!

We have fun teasing each other and learning from each others knowledge.

Welcome and stick around. We've got a couple of rogue chicken thread friends that pop in and out on a random basis.

We are here to get a rant out and support each other when necessary.

Great! Now Ken is going to correct his X and send a new map out!

Hey Chicken Hawks!

What are we going to nickname our new CT Friend, ArkadyDarell?

We can't name him until he sticks around for more than three feedings.

You know how strays hang around after you start feeding them.

Ok so this is hilarious, and I'm grateful for the wideeee variety of responses and welcomes I got here!

Thanks so much for the hospitality!

Ya know, I'm gonna have my people talk to their people and see about that chicken movie. Word on the street is THIS GUY has been asking questions and trying to get an audition for the leading role. I'll have to keep asking around.

I heard some folks around here on this thread might have an opinion on that. Anyone know any chickens destined for the silver screen??

Cool!

Sam's on the chicken thread...

Don't get scared off. Some folks do. They just don't understand us.

Yeah, we are pretty weird, but we have a couple of Mods to sort of keep us in line. LOL. Lots of laughs and love!

Well... sort of...

Good morning all

"We used to drive Lisa insane when he was younger. We’d get to roughhousing and he’d start growling, snarling and snapping, his eyes would get hard, then I’d pry his jaws apart and stick my neck between them. As soon as I did that he’d calm right down but Lisa would freak out every damned time.
I love that dog – and I’m glad as hell he loved me."

Sheesh! Beau is mad at me or something--never remembers to include me in the Chicken Thread regulars. Like everyone else who spends any time on this thread I go by many names--ABTLH (Auntie Bug The Luddite Hun) I sign off on the regular threads as my user name dobebug. If you are counting just plain age I'm probably the senior member but recently I've been fighting sciatica and the vet (er, doctor) put me on gabebentin + a pain med--the gabentin leaves me goofy--can't remember stuff half way through sentences and start writing posts like Kenny (EICN) can't spell, can't complete words and chit like that.

By the way--my real claim to fame around here is hat I looked at the "Chicken Thread" for months before I actually read any part of it--then I started reading post from the ones being posted in present time and ultimate (because that was way too confusing) went back and finished reading the whole danger thread either from beginning to current posting or from where I'd stopped reading backwards and continued doing more of that as well as reading foreward--I can't say that I recommend doing that--it tends to leave you totally confused.

LadyDi--he doesn't need a new name--he's already got one--"Sam"--where have you been??????

ABTLH

I think Ma has been mislabeled and is actually a gyrfalcon. No wonder she's bossy. You may not want to keep her in the same pen with the others.

"The gyrfalcon is a bird of prey, the largest of the falcon species"

"The Gyrfalcon hunts mostly ptarmigan..." (Cornell Lab of Ornithology)

And ptarmigans look a good deal like chickens.

In fact, there is a town called Chicken, Alaska--

"Chicken was settled by gold miners in the late 19th-century and in 1902 the local post office was established requiring a community name. Due to the prevalence of ptarmigan in the area that name was suggested as the official name for the new community. However, the spelling could not be agreed on and Chicken was used to avoid embarrassment." --Wiki

Rumor has it Doc grew up there.

I rest my case.

Anyway-y-y-y-y,
If your chicks start disappearing, don't say I didn't warn you first.

Ghostika--we have a tutorial on how to start a thread:

https://www.dobermantalk.com/new-mem...rt-thread.html
Maybe that'll help????

Anyway, I'm going to take your post over and make it into a new thread, because, as much as it pains me to admit it, not everyone is stupid enough to try to keep up with this one. Some people actually have lives to live outside of DT! Poor things.

But you can hang around here with the rest of us misfits...the more the merrier.

I would imagine this is one of the those cases where you say "if you can't beat them join them" ...it might be interesting if that chick has a pepe lepu situation develop.

LOL--Now Kenny--don't feel bad about not spelling right (it's just one of those things that those of us who "aren't quite right" do sometimes). And where would we all be without the great Kennyism's like "no chit?"

With the advent of gabapentin in my life I find I can't spell, cant edit properly (can't even find the danged mistakes) and have taken to leaving out entire sentences.

So how's the neck? And is it raining in your part of the world and how tall is the corn now (we know it didn't make "as high as an elephants eye" by the 4th of July but it's had another couple of weeks to try to catch up.

Well, I didn't survive the weekend heat and storms very well - was down for the count with a horrific, horrific migraine for about 36 hours. Still not totally recovered, but hopefully upwardly trending

Our weather is still not looking great this week. It feels like you're practically swimming in the air - the humidity is awful. More storms are probably on the way. We're having just a wet, wet summer this year, and it's very not-fun. The farmers are having it pretty rough around here, ECIN - I just feel terribly for them. Flooding, plus delayed planting, plus, who knows what else.

Hopefully we'll have an okay day on Friday - Richter gets to go play K9 ABC Games for nosework, and he doesn't get to do as much of that as he used to, so hopefully it'll be okay weather and we'll have fun. We've been mostly staying indoors in the air conditioning and haven't hardly been getting out for days. No walks - too hot. We've done more short sessions of chuck-it for a few minutes when it cools down for the day, and that's about it. Plus, Sypha's in heat, so we can't do any nice off-leash walks, either, which means leash walks on the hotter pavement, and that's a lot more limited in this kind of brutal heat.

Here's hoping things cool off soon...this is the part of summer I just hate, and I want to go move out to the Northeast and live with John and Bug!

Ow....sorry you've been under the weather, MC (literally as well as figuratively??)

Looks like our weather is pretty similar to yours this week, predicted to be in the 90's all week, but maybe with a break coming on Sunday. Right now it's 89 and HDD and I just got back from a walk. It was a cool 82 when I started and slightly cloudy sunward; I think I walked too long. Our humidity is only 18% though, and that makes a BIG difference.

Hope you feel much better soon.

Jeeze MeadowCat--you'll have to join up with the "not right' group that Ken and I belong to--John and I are in the NORTHWEST--specifically the Pacific Northwest (the cats just came in to see why I was laughing) You go wandering off toward the east and north and you my find even worse humidity than in Minnesota the land of 10,000 lakes--or was that 100,000 lakes?). Just let me know when you are arriving and I'll remove the books, blankets, plants and dog beds from the bed in the alleged "guest room".

Hope you're feeling better--did you get rid of the migraine?

But you kind of need to hurry--today's high is supposed to be 73 degrees and overcast most of the day--humidity which tends to hang around 30 to 35 % might be as high as 37% now but when it says cool--who cares? After today though the temperatures rise and the humidity falls--up into the 80's for the next 4 or 5 days starting on Saturday. Still has to beat Minnesota.

PS I can even supply you with dog wise cats (actually with Clark it isn't a matter of supply anyone with him--it's more like prying him out of your jacket pocket. Out of your purse--off of the dog he wants to sleep on--the dog's food he wants to look at and smell and eat (Leave it Clark--it's the same thing Toad eats and we know you like it!)....

ARGHHHH!! I initially typed "Portland" and then I erased it and meant to type "Northwest" to make it more generic....I'm blaming migraine brain - which is a real thing, BTW! You lose words and your brain really has weird stuff going on. For real! I swear! You all knew what I meant

I'm ready to move out there some days, that's for sure. Too bad the cost of living is so high. Plus, of course, all our friends and family are here. But, sometimes I wonder if the more "steady" temps would help with my head...who knows? Plus, the northwest is so pretty and I could avoid the awful, awful winters

You know I wouldn't object to more cats! I could easily go down the road of crazy cat lady....
