SP...yeah Hoss has one ear that lays down........but when he goes into alert mode it stands straight as an arrow.
I posted him for two years and it appeared he was just going to carry his ears that way !
But in conjunction with me hearing loss it works out great because ......I have a 90 percent hearing loss in my right ear...so I displace sound....for instance ......I will think a sound is coming from the front of me ...yet its coming from the back.......so Hoss is trained that when we are out.....if he senses danger .....both ears will go up......he will stop ....and look up at me..........and he will look to the direction of his concern. Shoot just yesterday we were walking.........then both ear up.......he looks to me..then back....and chit there was a car coming from behind ............So lucky to have Hoss ....I would never to be able to go hiking in the mountains without him.......because of uneven hearing....that throws my balance off ...so I stabilize myself using his shoulders a when we hike...........he takes me where I normally would never be able to go physically. Yeah folks like the ears .....they also think it makes him look cute........until they see both ears up........

Oh yeah...good morning all.....lots and lots of rain this past weekend.......still raining....lots of lightening.......those bolts come with no warning and will kill you instantly. Especially if you are sitting outside in high grandstands like racetracks in Daytona!!

Been in one of those moods for a while , i am just not quite right you know! I just cannot loosen up , some people say its because i am a "gemini" , that only irritates me worse

If he's in charge of the danged weather he'd better get on it or I'll personally lead a move to fire him and find someone who'll pay attention to Nascar, Unlimited Hydroplanes and Baseball..

Rats--wouldn't you know--I'm doomed to live someplace that doesn't care about Unlimited hydroplane or Nascar.

That's Sea Fair Kenny--unless they decided to change it's name after a gazillion years of it being Sea Fair. Makes no never mind though--do they really not raced the Unlimited's in rain these days? Nothing the weather pped them from racing back in the day.

Come to think of it--didn't they used to do all the big car races no matter what the weather was like? I have vague memories of my husband searing about some big multicar crash--on radio--as a starving student I did not have a television--happened in rain--happened at the ummmm--too long ago I can't remember. Come to think of it that guy wasn't even my husband yet.

Geeze, ancient history--and the 'sports news' this morning has consisted of the running of the bulls--and complaining about how many guys have gotten killed doing that.

Huh! Stevie Wonders kidney transplant beats that.

Hey, Lady Di--there are a lot of Dobes who can lay claim on dogs who had a 'lazy' ear or two.

One of my favorites was a red dog (actually a very nice dog who finished young and fast and did well when he was shown as a Special briefly)--but I swear, that dog's ears just hung at the side of his head--and he had a long show crop--except when he was in the ring--he'd be standing outside waiting to go in and his handler would be tearing his hair out trying to get the dog to put up his ears--they'd walk in the ring and as soon as they were in place in the line up would come the ears.

People who had only seen him outside the ring would stare in amazement. If I hadn't seen it I'd never of have believed it. But since him I've seen a bunch of dogs with lazy ears--put them up if it's worth doing and otherwise the hear flops or hangs.

LOL--Kenny--I have never messed with a bull but had to outrun a mama cow that was truly pizzed off at me (gave her calf a shot that made her bleat) I beat the cow out of the field but just barely.

And that kind of stuff always happens when you have an audience--like the group of know it all guys who sent me out in that field to give the danged calf a shot.

Or the same d***d group who sent me to bring back a bale of hay--and speicified that it should be one from the far stack (this was in the day and age of twine bales vs wire bales and no one had even seen one of those huge rolls that you need a big tractor to move--I pulled a bale off the top of the stack--didn't notice it was a wire bale (they weighed between 75 and 100 pounds a bale--the twine bales wee only about 40 or 50 pounds)--I weighed, maybe 100 bounds then so the bale fell on me me and I couldn't catch it and all those nimno's laughed their azzes off before they came and pried me out from under the bale.

Or the time my stepdad took me and his oldest kid (my stepbrother) out to a rifle range to shoot a new rifle--so he said--it wasn't a rifle it was a 12 gage shotgun and it knocked me on my azz--what with one thing and another I grew up learning to never trust male animals...

And I hear thunder and the weather man (see don't trust those guys) just said no rain until tomorrow--so I'd better get out and mow the back yard before whatever the thunder and the big thunderheads protend.

Later 'gators,

It's hot!!!

That is all

Ok, maybe not. We're flying my mom here later this week and my brother and his wife are coming, it's my mom's 80th birthday so we're going to have a small celebration. On Friday, I'll be grilling and smoking (beef short ribs and chicken on the grill, 2 slabs of baby back ribs in the smoker) so Ken, I shall post up some pics just for you, if I don't die of heat stroke out there on the deck LOL And of course I'll be making my world famous potato salad™ as well.

LOL TN...

My wife of almost 42 years, who has been my "friend" since we were 15 and my partner for 46 years has always been referred by me as "She who speaks and must be obeyed".

Of course that was just me letting her think that she was in control!.

Are you going to give us your world famous potato salad recipe?

Good Evening Peeps!

Didn't get the girls moved out yesterday.

It was so freaking hot yesterday. I had to keep taking breaks while scraping old chicken $hit off every nook an cranny, because Mister was nagging me about it not being clean.

I was like why? The new flock is just going just going to $hit everywhere too! I thought it looked good when I scraped it the first time!

So the girls didn't go out yesterday. And, they didn't go out today. And, I am trying to remember how I got the last flock out. Did I carry them out one by one? Or, one under each arm. I simply can't remember! Guess I am getting CRS (Can't remember $hit)

I am calling the coop done, threw a bag of shavings in, need more, but it can wait for a minute.

Chickens...cleaning chicken coops...histoplasmosis....brought to you by my college medical mycology class (just about the only thing I remember from that course.)

Which was moderately interesting when we got to the systemic stuff, like histoplasmosis or desert fever, but deadly dull when we talked about athlete's foot and ringworm.

What?

Laymans terms please?

I am never going to be able to spell histoplasmosis, ever!

LOL

I can't even get my pic attachments deleted here, so I can laboriously attach more?

Umm, Beau?

Crap!

So that is why my feet itch?

I thought it was because I wear waterproof boots to work. I thought my feet were being suffocated. Good to know I have athlete's foot and ringworm!

I was worried they were going to have to amputate my feet!

Whew! Dodged a bullet there!
