STJ!
I don't think that's totally unusual, STJ...fireworks are pretty intense, and you're right that ongoing noise like that is pretty hard on dogs. It's also not uncommon for dogs that aren't bothered by them when they are young to develop sensitivity or fear later in life, even for people who are pretty diligent about their training (feeding yummy treats after hearing fireworks, etc.). There's only so much you can do, especially as it seems use of fireworks is increasing in this country. I, for one, wish that there were fewer fireworks in neighborhoods and it was more restricted to public displays, but that's not always a popular opinion.

Happy Independence Day, All!

I'm only here until I get off work. Have another date with Geek Squad after work. Something tells me they are going to tell me I will need to get a new computer.

I will attempt to catch up on everyone between phone calls.

I've been jonesing since my puter crashed.

I need my DT fix!

Their feet grow with their bodies, I think it was just the camera angle. They are at that awkward stage though.

MAY – EMERALD // MommaBear
The May birthstone, emerald, was one of Cleopatra’s favorite gems. It has long been associated with fertility, rebirth, and love. Ancient Romans went so far as to dedicate this stone to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Today, it is thought that emeralds signify wisdom, growth, and patience.

SEPTEMBER – SAPPHIRE // PapaBear
The September birthstone, sapphire, was once thought to guard against evil and poisoning. It was believed that a venomous snake would die if placed in a vessel made of sapphire. Traditionally a favorite stone of priests and kings, the sapphire symbolizes purity and wisdom.

OCTOBER – OPAL // BabyBear
The October birthstone, opal, symbolizes faithfulness and confidence. The word comes from the Latin opalus, meaning “precious jewel.” Necklaces with opals set in them were worn to repel evil and to protect eyesight.

^^ All three of the Beau family, is most accurately described.
- moms Loving with beauty, much patience & gave birth to the center of our world
- dad has loads of respected wisdom, and offers son much personal & business advice
- son had remarkable eye sight, in elite level sports (baseball & billiards) & his whole life was built on gaining & eluding confidence & good decisions making // he wears dads birthstone gold ring, that dad received when dated Mrs & his ROLEX watch, is the limited Batman GMT edition (anther symbol of strength & travel)...these two examples are his precious jewel artifacts, but he is truly mom & dads jewel

PS - Take the Test my friends, and analyse yourself.
BabyBear and I have something in common!

Not popular for me! Fireworks are fun. My dogs stay in the house, which I'm sure everyone else does, too!

STJ, have you thought about a Thundercoat? I don't even know if they work for Thunder let alone fireworks. Lily goes under the couch when it storms and Pepper tries to fit herself under the computer desk.

Okay, whew! I think I am all caught up now!

Supervisor just filled up our workplans. Got to go empty it out again.

If I don't catch you all before 4 today, I will be back tomorrow!

Have a safe holiday, Peeps!

Mocha is a weird girl...she's hesitant to walk near our air vents on the floor (never have figure that one out) but loud noises like thunder or fireworks don't bother her a bit. Now our Shih Tzu, before he started going deaf (he'll be 17 this November) was utterly terrified during thunderstorms and fireworks.

Little side note - now that he's going deaf, he relies on and looks to Mocha to let him know when there's someone at the door or if one of us is coming home (the sound of the garage door opening). When she barks, he barks LOL.

Our Kroger had them on sale today too, $1.99 a pound...not bad! I almost bought a few slabs but we're having T-bone steaks today. And I've baked plenty of ribs in the oven...when we lived in Korea, we lived in an apartment where grilling was a pain* so most of the time I made country style ribs in the oven and they came out delicious

*had to drag the grill out and put it in the elevator, go downstairs, drag the grill out onto the sidewalk where I felt like I was a monkey at the zoo with everyone stopping to check out what I was doing LOL

Mocha, helping me grill some T-bone steaks

But even with the smell of grilling steaks wafting over the deck, she's still on squirrel patrol, ever vigilant!

Gotta love a good steak on the grill!

We just ate some more brats on the grill, with toasted buns and grilled peppers. Delicious! Dogs wanted some, but...nope!

I made some chocolate zucchini bread with chocolate chips with some of the zucchini from our CSA today...also delicious. I'm claiming it's healthy because it has a vegetable in it!

Sitting around binge watching TV, relaxing and just enjoying some time off. Hope all of you are enjoying your holiday, too.

MC,

I'm sitting here binge watching the Amazon miniseries Good Omens, with Mocha curled up beside me. I'm liking this show so far!
