So the minute my son came in the door from outside, HDD (Harold DogDog) started barking hysterically--growling, wailing and carrying on. It was like, "Geez, dog, stuff a sock in it....it's just Steven. Will you shut up already?" But he kept it up, so I eventually went to the door to look....

There was a bear meandering along halfway up the hillside, pausing every so often to check under a rock or two, and then moving on again.

Moral of the story:
If your dog seems to be trying to tell you something, listen.

My Daisy girl is like that , I have have some benches that are made of 2'' foam. She was always jumping up on this bench and disturbing the material that was on top. I would remove the material to let her see nothing was there and she would still piss me off by constantly standing in this area...stupid girl! Few months later i was removing those benches and replacing with expanded metal and wouldn't you know that mice had carved themselves a habitat inside the foam. Sorry Daisy we all live and learn.

Guess I just need to work weekends and take random week days off.

The rain sure ain't helping my weekend work schedule, when I am off.

Thanks for checking on me Daddio! I was at work so I wasn't worried about me.

However, Mister was home.

Terre was tracking it on her phone and I was in the break room watching the coverage. When it blew NE of us, we went back to work. Went around our houses.

Pretty Damn close though.

The wildfires disturb me more than tornadoes.

Appreciate you giving me a heads up!

You can have some of some of mine too, AJ.

I am rain weary and starting to get, out of control, grumpy!

This is coming from someone who loves water!

Electricity wire to the coop is broke and we have to start over.

He is hell bent on keeping my egg sized babies out of the house!

The snakes are going to be bad this year and he is trying really, really, hard to get them eaten by a snake.

What he doesn't know is, I am hell bent on bringing them in the house until they grow their cute little feathers!

When Mister came in after I got home, he showed me his tornado "envelope" (you know the ones that have bubble wrap in them).

He wasn"t concerned enough to have a survival pack, like blankets, water and a $hit bucket!

The Johnny keys were in his envelope, though!

I laughed at him and asked him, "What good are they going to do you, when the Z is in the next county and can't be identified?"

He cracks me up!

We have a fun time, pushing each other's buttons.

But, he is still stubborn and the chickie babies are coming in the house.

Stomping my foot!

Right, SD!

You get it!

He would rather make sure the coop is finished and the girls can stay outside.

He is pissed that a wire broke.

LOL

I've got a plan.

Roll the horse tank in and rig it like we did the last go around, while he is at work.

He forgot he taught me!

He's going to try to be grumpy with me. But, he knows he already lost this battle.

Love my Mister!

Really? Lofted?

Dang!

My Mom told me a story where she and her 3 younger siblings were picked up and set back down on the couch they were sitting on.

Unchained Melody The Righteous Brothers

Lyrics

Oh, my love
my darling
I've hungered for your touch
a long lonely time
and time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much
are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
Godspeed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea,
to the sea
to the open arms of the sea
lonely rivers sigh 'wait for me, wait for me'
I'll be coming home wait for me

Oh, my love
my darling
I've hungered for your touch
a long lonely time
and time goes by so slowly
and time can do so much
are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
Godspeed your love to me

Maybe they're hiding.....

"Snake Slithers out of Toilet, Bites Florida Man"

https://www.foxnews.com/us/snakes-sl...es-florida-man

At least the guy was only bitten on his arm, could be worse. The article states that this species is rarely aggressive. Heck, I'd be aggressive if someone was pissing on me.

Although he still chases black labs if he gets a chance. He a very red tabby and very old now--but as long as he's willing to eat we'll keep feeding him. The other alien is a Siamese---probably purebred and very charming-we could have placed her many times (she was left by her first owners when they moved--the next door neighbor brought her to us to see if we could rehome. However it turned out that she had only one functioning kidney (the other was the size of a pea) so she's live with us on a kidney diet since she was just over a year old--Stella--she must be around 12 now.

I'm one of the very good guys in the life of these aliens--I let them out of their kennels (where the spend their night so they don't set off the motion detectors) and feed them and listen to their complaints. And pet them--when Rufus first came to us you couldn't even pet him--life is not good for street aliens.

Talk to you all sometime
Boy, I'm glad to see you posting here Kenny. Saw a very early morning weather report from the Heartland and hadn't found your post yet and they were talking about two tornados on the ground in Indiana...I'm sorry it hit even close to you but better than ending up in one of your very nearby corn fields.

Good luck drying all this rain out--we all know that in another month all the farmers will be bemoaning the fact that it isn't raining. Feast or famine--that's what you guys always get.

It's a very strange little book...

Mel's right--when you add up the three angels or angles in a triangle they have to equal 180 degrees (or it isn't a triangle)--so if you have two acute angles the other angle has to be greater than 60 degrees or (guess what) it ain't a triangle.

And it would figure that I did read "Flatland"--isn't it really old? I can't remember anything at all about it except that someone I knew owned it and it got passed around so a bunch of us all read it. (Us equals the sci fi and fantasy freaks around my age).

The "Boots on the Ground" display.....

It's horrible to say, but in the context of some of the battles of WWII (D-day and the Battle of Normandy--in a relatively short time, over 209,000 Allied casualties, with nearly 37,000 dead amongst the ground forces and a further 16,714 deaths amongst the Allied air forces), the numbers of soldiers killed (6,200) since 9-11 over 8 years, always seemed relatively small.

Until you see something like this. It somehow brings out and emphasizes to me a realization of every life's preciousness.

The sacrifices our soldiers and their families make are immense. It is good to take time to remember them.
The pictures of the various veteran cemeteries that you see only on Memorial Day are heartbreaking.

@ bug

Man.. I had forgotten all about Flatland.

If I remember correctly , the book was a political satire of the time. The author used geometry make biting comments on Victorian society.

Often read books that I had read many years before. This seems like it would be the perfect book to revisit.

STJ!

90+ degrees for the 9th day in a row...they say we're about 10 degrees above average for May. It's really too hot for me to take Mocha out back when I get home from work, or not longer than a few minutes...and I know how bad she wants to play and run. October can't get here soon enough.

Flatland--first published in 1884.

But still of interest in terms of a commentary of those times, and a little thought provoking about our times, if you don't get all hung up in "that author is SO sexist...look at the things he said about women" etc. It never fails to irritate me when people try to apply their own current standards to something someone said 1 or 2 hundred years ago and then automatically claim they're awful because they didn't think or behave the way we do. Especially when they ignore whether what a person said reflected their actual belief, was satire or just a recounting of the society they lived in. Very unfair.

Not to mention that some of the ways people thought or acted in the past are probably better than current practices.

We're still dropping down into the 30's at night. My front lawn is planted with a warm season turf grass (and also grows weeds nicely), so it doesn't match the lawns of other folks with their cool season grass which are greening up happily. Oh well, mine will need less water come hot summertime. Phbbttttt...........
