Thanks for asking, Kenny!

It rained hard and steady yesterday. Slowed down for the visitors to get in the house. Stopped. Then when the visit was coming to a close, thunderstorm acted up again. Sun shiny, today. More rain coming tomorrow and or Tuesday.

Too wet to get a mowing lesson.

As usual, with the dome still intact, we got nothing but maybe 5 minutes worth of sprinkles. This morning when I got up, they were saying thunderstorms, 90% chance of rain, strong wind gusts blah blah blah and by 8 it had changed to 50% chance of scattered showers. LOL I wish I knew what always causes the weather fronts to break up or dry out before they get to this area, then reform right after passing by. Not sure if it's Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley which are just to the west of us or what. A really odd phenomenon.

Since I'm here, allow me to share with you this most joyous of occasions; my first BLT of 2019!

Great looking sandwich! I love BLTs. I prefer iceberg (head) lettuce, due to my upbringing (poor). I also use Miracle Whip as opposed to regular mayonnaise.

I will give a good effort and that's about it !

1. You call that a BLT ??? WTH is the B in the BLT ??? Terrible !

2. I'm with 4x4 - poor - unhealthy upbringing ! Go with the ice burg also

3. Mayo ! Or Miracle whip - Use a spoon to load it up ! When it's right - it will be all over your fingers - lmao

4. Didn't cut the sandwich at a angle - then use tooth picks to hold it together !!!

5. I do give good credit on the tomato ! Damn it looks good !

Over all - I will rant it a 75 - lack of artery plunging bacon takes off the most points !

+ the use of healthy lettuce hurts total point too !

Just f ing with you TN - lol We made some a few weeks ago - I think I could eat them all the time , but dang wife keeps me grounded

One last thing - If you get the sandwich down like you take pictures - Oh damn - I would hate to think how good that BLT would be !

We got your rain TN - Check out your radar - some good stuff headed this way from IL !

6. Also a good credit on the Texas size toast !

I had picked out some red leaf lettuce which honestly I thought looked just fine but she-who-must-be-obeyed didn't like the way it looked so she went back and grabbed a package of romaine lettuce. And heck yeah, I use nothing BUT miracle whip in this house...for everything from sammiches to home-made potato salad!

Everyone's a critic!

I always make the bacon in the oven at 400 degrees, take it out before it gets crunchy and the pan I use only holds 6 pieces of the Wright bacon (only brand I use); once done I cut them in 1/2 and use 3 pieces of bacon (6 halves) on the sammich. Miracle Whip on both pieces of bread (texas toast or nothing, baby!), with just a hint of salt and pepper on the mater.
Don't tell my wife but I'm going to make me another one with the leftover bacon to take to work tomorrow

So... BLTs

When we were really young our BLTS had no B or T. Couldn't afford it. So just toast, Miracle Whip and lettuce. Tasted great! I guess it was just an "L".

So, update on the work at the ModBrod house.

New desk is assembled, in place and fully loaded. Old desk won't get around the corners to make it to the second level. We tried to take it apart, but nothing doing. So it is in two segments out the garage. It's pretty beat up anyway, so it will go out on the curb (once our rainy spell is over) with a FREE sign on it. I'll probably end up getting it hauled away by the trash company.

I offered to get the Daughter another desk (since I had bought the one for the Son) but she says she'd rather have the money.

Bushes are planted, mulched and rocks are back in place. I'd take pictures to show you guys, but I'm afraid someone will correct my work ....... or they'll say it looks nice but won't really mean it. My psyche is sensitive when it's tired.

The weeds are not poisoned yet. We're heading for rain, so they'll have to wait until later.

A while later. Here's our forecast for the next few days:

Tonight: A chance of showers; low 38. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Monday: 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms. High near 51. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible (which is a fair amount for us, when our yearly precip. is about 16.5 inches.)

Oh, what the heck.

Of course, everything needs to grow. That one bigger thing spread out over the sidewalk was already there. It's a cotoneaster like the two I planted toward the deck stairs. That's what I'd like those to do. I have limited flexibility due to that stupid straight sidewalk:

I said the desk was finished and fully loaded, but it looks like the rat's nest of wiring still needs to be stowed somewhere. That part is up to my son.
He has a pretty high-powered set-up--graphics work is his thing. He still needs to get the cameras placed for his virtual reality stuff too.

You'll just have to imagine the desk in the garage.
ECIN likes this.

Damn it ! did it rock and roll out of NO where ! Pretty sure a Tornado set down in Fairland - about 10 miles SW of us - they put us under a Warning - then TV said it was in Rush county - to the North East - one on the ground - where it was - went right over us - No damage here Rained so hard - couldn't see anything for a short time - wind was very strong - that must be when the bad stuff went over us . That kind of chit gets the blood to pumping - lol

Now to you Mel - Dang nice looking place you have ! I not kidding ! What kind of roof is that ? Like it !

BTW - farming sucks !

Mel,

How a about a bigger pic of your house (if you don't mind)? It looks very nice, would love to see more!

To reciprocate, here are some pics of Casa TN lol. These were taken about 2 weeks ago, since then the rest of the roses have really started going wild. The reason the one set of shutters is darker than the rest is because one got blown off during a bad storm and we couldn't find it so we had to buy a new set which of course, looks brand new while the rest have taken a beating from the sun.

Can't wait for the butterfly bushes and limelight hydrangeas to bloom!

We love our plants and flowers

The back...hostas were just starting to come to life and yeah, the reason there's a fence there is because of our goat, I mean Doberman lol.

Once again, we're turning our deck into a mini jungle

CertainTeed Presidential Shake IR, fiberglass based. If you're looking from more of a straight-on angle, it's supposed to look sorta like a shake roof (which is what the house had originally, but people aren't allowed to install those here anymore because of fire danger) It's hail/impact resistant; that's the important thing around here.

Here's a before landscaping picture:

Well, phooey...Flickr seems to be down. Later.....

Glad to hear you got skipped by the extreme nasty stuff, ECIN.

TN, I'm in landscape/garden love (beautiful house, too, by the way.) And I love, love Clematis. You must not have deer

Our decks are a similar style to yours. If Flickr ever starts to work again for me, I'll show you.

We have deer, but we have a 6 foot privacy fence (8 feet in the back behind the hostas).

Hope flickr comes back up soon for ya

Also, I don't believe Mocha has ever been in your back yard. I don't see any dead grass pee spots or fence running trails.
