Skilled labor is getting harder & harder to find (these days).
- and the few good finish carpenters, can charge whatever they want, it seems / or booked for months

Last week, I found a nice Mennonite man (age 23) to do a garage steel roof for me / and help me build a 5 ft. cedar fence, next summer...I have to supply transportation, they like to work & very talented.
- I've used Mennonite sawmills & flooring suppliers, in the past
- always pleased when it comes to dealing with them
- get to know them / they can be quite funny, and like a good laugh

We also found a very good Mennonite bakery, down a paved side road...20 min. from home.
- fresh home made bread...yummy stuff
- Ginger bread cookies, large diameter...$5/doz.
- and taking a 1/2 doz. tarts over to sons place tomorrow

My twin brother uses the Mennonite's as well / sawmill & cabinet maker (for bathroom reno).
- the one guy likes it, when my brother brought him in a 2 scoop ice cream cone...hehe
- the sawmill guy, also makes Maple Syrup in the early spring...$15/bottle...put some in my BBQ sauce today

Best of all, hiring a Mennonite - their not lazy or dishonest, and a hand shake still means something (honorable).
- worst of all, hard to contact / no phone in house & they don't have a cell phone
- my guy has a pager, and a crap load of 20 volt DeWalt tools...

Hi Kiddies....

What did I miss? Just joking. I am sure nothing. This thread is after all like Seinfeld. You know.... The Show About Nothing. (Thanks Denny)

Stryker, Sounds like you have a good coyote plan started! Are you going to have a donkey on chicken watch and coyote patrol near the coop?

PT - I laughed when my GF (now wife) told me how to drink some water, out of a glass, upside down.
- but it did work, surprisingly well. How does one drink water, upside down...I had to ask, and needed instructed
- either that, or find someone too pinch my nose / and scratch my butt
(takes your mind of the hiccups & nose don't hurt)
Use this Dr. advice......and soon you will be blowing......bubbles, in no time.

Your last post 5:10 am, couldn't sleep...hehe...I bet its a 3 hour difference in time zone, thingy.

Happy Sunday, everybody! Game of thrones & Rick and Morty, oh boy! it's going to be a hot one on the Mohave! Finishing up on my filing cabinet today. if I can bend. On second thought, maybe not. I haven't been working the dog, shame on me. Maybe, Monday, I can get in and out of the car. I tried to do too much yesterday, and was up 1/2 the night. Too tough laying back down. What a wimp! I'm going stir crazy! Ribs are a lot better, however. What a cry baby!
I need some Meninites to help me do my piling up projects!

PT - thks & I accepted your Friends request.

I've been a DT member for several years now / but I haven't started adding friends, since joining.
- not a standoff-ish thing...just don't know what it does ?
I'm sure younger kids, could figure it out...but not me, at my age.

PS - my mailbox is always at 98% and if someone sends me a message / now I'm at 100% full.
So I just give out my personal email instead of loading up DT: [email protected]
- your always welcome, to contact me directly

AND Today
Visited son & T-man today, did some plaster repair in master bath...towel rack screws, were not into studs.
- father & son project together, so I got to be Daddy Miyaji (Karate Kid Sensei - teaching wax on / wax off)

I’ve never quite figured out why this forum even has an add friends thing.
I don’t think you can hide things here so only your friends have access to them. PM’s can be sent to multiple people the way you send emails by listing a bunch of user names, but I’m not on facebook, so I really don’t even know how the friends business works there either.....

B67--full mailbox.

You should be able to delete old Private Messages.

Go to your list of PMs. Click on the box on the right hand side of the PM you wish to get rid of (or click on multiple boxes if you want to get rid of a lot of them). They should then be highlighted. Go to the bottom right of the page where it says “selected messages”. Use the double arrows to get a drop down list of options and choose “delete”.

The red box to the right of that says “Go” and shows you how many messages you’ve selected. Click on that button and whatever task you have selected (in this case, “delete”) will be performed to all of the PMs you have selected.

I’m pretty sure this is available to all users, not just us mods...but I can’t test that out to see. Give it a whirl if you’d like.

Friends? It's mostly a feel good thing IMO. If someone has friended you, they seem to be more open trading info via pm or email. I just received a friend request today and happily accepted. I like it. I have 19 friends and most have been requested by them. Larry is an exception. I friended him because his wife and mine have the same name. Well... maybe we have a bit more in common. LOL. Denny is also in my friend group. (Shoot... Where's Mel?)

Everyone is scrambling to find the perfect place to view the total eclipse. I have a DT friend who was kind enough to offer me a place to camp, directly under the path. Unfortunately, I will be home prepping for surgery

Personally, I don't grok the social group thing that NO current users participate in.

Your friend,
Stop That Johnny (Also know as Bad John)

I mean, I accept requests as they come in and reciprocate.....but I just “unfriended” a bunch of people because I don’t even think they are on the forum anymore. Just to neaten things up.

On facebook, for me, it's advertising my latest. People friend you to get your posts. And for you to get yours. Kind of a "I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours". I have a personal and business FB. Personal is to keep your name in front of peeps that like your wears, without pummeling to death with "buy it now". friends receive your posts and share them with their list and you then get friend requests to see more of you and your products. It's been great.

Well, up again in the middle of the night. Sheesh! Morning! Morning! It's 3:40 A.M. I'm probably up with some of you middle Westerners and Mn folk this morning. It wasn't as hot as I thought it was going to be yesterday. About 95F. Should be around 90F today. Did you guys see the blistering heat in Kawait the end of July! ?! 129 degrees for a few days! Bushes and palm trees spontaneously combusting! That puts another kabosh on SciFi movies soaring up to 150F. People running through the direct sun light! HAH!

WOW PT - I couldn't imagine 129^F.

7:40 am here / 58^F and partly cloudy, up North.
- probable had a few days that topped 95^, a few months back
Last year, Kelly couldn't stand being out for an hour (in the hot sun), at a Flea Market with us.
- left early from Old car event, she was starting to get a heat stroke
- so back in the AC RAV4 and headed home

Your dogs would likely hate our cold winter weather...hehe.
- its all a tolerance thing, to the environment they are exposed to & grew up in

My grammar sucks to - "to or too", "were or where"...those sort of things bug me.
- if the wife is handy, I just ask her "how do I spell this word"...LOL
- when son is here, for visit...I'll ask him similar grammar stuff to / he says "dad your a lazy speller"
- I say "whatever", now spell my word for me

My excuse - both the wife and adult son, are gifted in writing communication.
- 2nd year of College, sons English communication at the 4th year HonorsBA level...& probably Masters level now
- I told them before auto spell check, I live with two dictionaries...just to help Dad...

Beau, sounds like a fun day you had yesterday. I lived in Our CA mountains in my early, early 20's. !8 degrees F was cold to me! My dobie loved it! But, he hated deep snow.

Just had a mini Coffin Crisp chocolate bar, a Halloween treat (aka version of a Coffee Crisp bar).
- anyone try this brand, in the USA ?
- one of my favorite, since a teenage kid in the local pool hall

Who makes homemade bread here ??
Mrs. Beau. made a small loaf...coming out now.
- smear some Land-O-Lakes butter on it
- Beau. will be all over it, "like a chicken, on a June bug"
^^ SEE - Little more chicken talk appeasement...keep SP Happy, wishful-thinking !!

And now Kel the photo bomber today:
- got up to 87^F later in afternoon
- when Kelly had enough heat, she stood by front door / the look said, "Dad let me in to the AC, to cool off"

- we are a 20 minute drive, from Lake Erie and a cottage industry town
- have 2 lovely water scene photos, nicely matted & framed
- one shows beach front & other includes the local pier & light house / prints hangs in our main entrance

Our son likes a UK artist & has a few of his paintings.
So we ordered a canvas light house one, with a stunning dark sky.
- size 24x30" @ $175 (if I recall)
- our kitchen is painted midnight chimes (dark blue)
- the painting will be mounted on the dining room wall (adjacent the kitchen table)
- and the painted shy line & painted kitchen wall cover, will tie things together nicely
- still have to get it framed, but I have a former co-worker in the art business / he does amazing work

Edit - added Kelly photo from post #1496, I accidentally deleted.

Wow! Great composition and movement in the painting.! There's nothing like original art!
