Happy Val-Day LDi and others...
- U be easy on B-Day Scott today, that's all Beau gonna say

This is how cold it is outside / yesterday, Kelly only had 2 pees & one #2 all day.
- dad had to block the porch, with my body / 4x per outing
- so she knew she wasn't coming through the front door
- until some business, was done

LMAO.......toot toot Doc....!!!!!!!

So 52 degrees here this AM.........Hoss all curled up in a ball......... his buddy Brutus was over last night.....that dog is doing great .........he's the one that had fluid on the heart and front leg amputated .....Brut so far is living a fun life...we all know he is on borrowed time........I gave each of them a big raw beef shank bone.........Hoss would take his and stash it.... ..then would run over and would steal Brutus bone from him ........Brut has the perfect temperment....Brut never fights for anything.........he just looked at me so sad ...waiting for Hoss to be dealt with .....we monitored them and they eventually both settled in together and munched on their bones for a couple of hours. What a couple of pals.

Oh yeah......roller rink days........so much fun.
Our music was a lady that played the organ.........the only records that were played were for the games........
All Girls skate.......
All Boys skate ........so they could strut their stuff......
Then boys picked a girl to skate with , and girls got to do the same.
Then the games.....Hokey Pokey ...............and the RACES .......boy those boys with those loud wheels...........yeah man......Beau must have been one of those dudes.
What was that game where you squatted down....one leg out...and somebody else pushed you during a race ????Foggy on that one.........
Red light/green light......I was good at that one........
I always admired the folks that could skate backwards real good..........I never was real good at that............
First and last time I ever drank MD 20/20 was at the skating rink..........ooooooo not a good idea.......shins all banged up from running into the rails to stop myself............

Beau was a decent roller skater, had good balance from many years of ice skating.
- since I could skate backwards, on ice skates...on roller skates, this came fairly easy
- hardest part, was going forward & reversing in motion / one night my efforts flubbed
- so when at home, I lased up my roller blades / and practiced the reverse transition, on the shag carpet
- in less than 5 short minutes, I had aced the reverse move
- because the carpet wasn't slippery and it slowed my mechanics down
- to about 10% slow motion / great for learning, a new move

Also, I learned to boggy-skate on wheels / and squatted down, with one leg extended, did it to.
- we didn't play many speed games, as the ice rink in summer time...had many cracks
- so one had to be aware of the hazard / the boys still raced, without the DJ telling us to
- soon another local arena opened up / a fairly new one, with perfect cement floors
- one weekend, Beau did a marathon skate...2 days over 20 hours, in total
- I still have my personal skates, with the high end wheels

No loud wheels in Canada, never seen them.

PS - I never used the nose stops, on the roller skates / to slow down & stop.
Instead, I shifted my roller skates sideways quick, and this skidding stop (with all 8 wheels) ...simulated the action of ice skate stops.
- very effective, playing tag & changing direction fast
- and it allowed the girls, to pick out the talented cool dudes

'Mornin' all. And happy Valentines Day.

Fox (who likes to make sure they get a couple of good animal shots in for every news segment had a couple of good ones this morning.

First one was of a Beagle bitch who lost her litter and adopted an opossum baby (where she found it is anyones guess.) The picture they showed was the bitch trotting around the yard with the 'possum clinging to her back. Denny--I'll admit that the baby possum was young enough to still be cute. They also said that the possum is now old enough to climb trees on it's own and when it does that the Beagle curls up under the tree and waits until the possum climbs on to her back again.

The second one was of a black panther (melanistic panther--very rare and probably not a panther at all but a melanistic leopard--first shot was a side shot in full sunlight and you could see the typical leopard rosette markings if a leopard--second shot taken when the cat was in shadow it was very black (and very stricking) and definintely an adult.

And the weather report from the left had Portland and environs--all of Portland metro stayed above freezing overnight and had only rain. But I-84 through the Columbia Gorge (main east west road hereabouts) which was closed for close to 24 hours yesterday because of ice, big rigs which had slid and blocked traffic westbound for close to 24 hours. They finally got the blocking big rigs moving (slowly) and cleared the blockade which had delayed nearly 1,000 people for a very long time.

Today is better and all big rigs are required to be chained up and they've got some sort of a pretty low speed limit in effect (yesterday when they were clearing all the trapped cars and trucks the speed limit was 5 MPH).

And the entirety of Seattle main east west pass (Snoqualmy--misspelled, sorry! I-90) was closed entirely and may still be closed--they weren't talking about it this am but yesterday it wasn't just snow, ice that were a problem it was also a problem with avalanches.

"VD day" Hmmmm.... I'll have to think about that. A day celebrating VD.

Stop That Denny! (STD!). Oh, silly me, STD... VD. I get it. Sure Denise, I will celebrate your day!
