Be truthful here - How many 8 tracks did you wear out playing Some John Kay ? aka Steppenwolf ??? While headed down to Shelbyville - evening time - windows down - just cruising - 8 tracking and this song always found it's way to play

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb3nicduLfM

BTW - I can see Di and her Hubby - Maybe Alan J -- driving the beach at Daytona playing it

OK here Rad - Farm boy to the rescue - Go to the farm store and get you some electric fence and a low fence charger - put the fence around your tree's - any where your neighbors dog will take a Wizz ! When he do's Wizz on - he will think his Wacker just blew up ! Well that's after he's ran about a mile away ! LMAO

BTW- just turn it on when Radar is in the HOUSE - He be'n' intact could cause a double explosion - if you know what I mean
Hah! I would rather put the electric fence on the top of their fence! Radar likes to "help" in the garden, and (so far) hasn't been "helping" with the watering...but we now need a fence for rabbits, deer, and stupid dogs. I'm thinking about just getting some thicker guage chicken wire, and a couple steel rods as posts. Doesn't need to be too strong, just an obstacle. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to these things...

Radar's first morning "duty" is to complete the rounds of the front and back yards, while I get ready for work - it takes him almost 10 minutes to pee on everything. I"m not sure I could remember to turn it off every day, and I don't want anything blowing up, although that would probably save me the cost of neutering a 100+lb dog....

Quote:
Looks like Rad could get some azz pounder storms this weekend - Rad - YOU keep my little buddy safe ! Oh yeah -- you be safe too ! If it roars - go in doors !
!
We did have some pretty big storms, but most of the bad stuff was farther north. SO is grumpy because his tomatoes got trampled by the heavy rain - he is off to find cages this afternoon I think Radar is starting to *like* storms...he gets zoomies when the wind starts to pick up and the sky goes dark, and does not want to come in until it's pouring. I had to drag him in on leash Sat night, because it was getting ready to dump all kinds of rain on us, and I didn't want to get caught in it...

He was even a big boy - he slept in the living room all night, rather than in the bedroom with us.

The storm last night knocked out our power, it was still out when I left for work this morning. No damage though, just lots and lots of rain.

Quote:
Well, you have just confirmed that YOU are the crazy *itch.

It's okay, I am right there with you!
Hah! You're probably right. They had the audacity to ask SO for help with their electrical also! For free! Damn people.

Quote:
Hey where’s radar......you don’t think they listened to Ecin and really followed through with the Winnie roast do you...... I
We are here No weeny roasts yet...haha - I'm pricing out the cheapest way to keep varmints out of the garden.

Ch Foxfire's Ain't That the Truth BN CD RE OA AXJ NF GN CGC ROM

And we had a full blown Midwest type thunderstorm yesterday afternoon.
I was outside trying to do something--hot and muggy and all of a sudden there was WIND! Had a bedroom window open--the big gust of wind blew the curtains out straight and the cat who was sitting on the window sill watching me, fell off--took him a couple of minute to climb back up to watch the leaves blowing (fascinating--if your are a cat). And the sky turned BLACK! I got back in the house just in time for Toad who was sitting in front of a front window to see a BIG lightning bolt (and man, it was right over us 'cause the thunder clap was right with the lightening.)

Toad, who is not at all noise sensitive looked it me--all wide eyed. Probably the drop in barometric pressure from the cell that was right over us. I threw one of the dog beds under the kitchen table and left him there with one of the cats. By the time we got to the restaurant the temperature had dropped from 85-ish to 74-ish in less than 20 minutes. And it started raining--serious gully washer rain.

This is very uncommon weather for the west coast--it rained about an hour and after it quit it felt like the Midwest after a storm on a hot afternoon. The kind of weather corn likes (and tomatoes)--feels soft, warm and humid.

it's trying to work it's way up to another one this afternoon...forecasters are saying no, no, no but I bet they'll get some good thunderstorms in the Cascades and in eastern Oregon-we're only getting the heat and humidity today.

@ bug ^^^

Yup! That was a helluva storm. I was outside watering my roses and tomatoes and BOOM! A lightning strike less than 1/4 mile away. Ran inside just as it hit. Common place for where I grew up or at our cabin in Montana, But not here. McCoy was not a happy camper. We must have received a 1/2" of rain in 30 minutes.

I actually love thunder/lightning storms given where I grew up. Very nostalgic.

Well... At least I didn't have to water.

STJ!

Good job Aunt B. - Like they say - When it roars - go in doors

We have been getting the same crap here - they just blow up from nowhere - dew points a around 70 = tropical - one popped up the other day - 1/2 inch in 10 minutes - boy did it pour - no hail ! that's a good thing !!!!!

Be careful out there B and John - looks like Spocksdad and Rosemary is in for some heavy rain in the next few days !

Glad that Rad missed the big sh1t !

Boy that Radar is a good looking boy !

Beau can feel the beat, in this song...now where did I put my dancing shoes ??
- unleashing the Tiger within, on the dance floor !!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My love is alive (Gary Wright ) original version
- from 1975's Hit Album "Dream Weaver"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZqItCGY3Ns

I should not tell anyone this: We had a jukebox in the lunch hall in junior high, I can remember this song would come on as I was walking to a table or something and I swear the groove was trance inducing, I imagined I was walking in slow motion in time to the beat and I had the most righteous strut that ever existed. I'm sure no one ever noticed. So weird to have this memory..

torres songs // 2 years ago
The opening riff reminds me of David Bowie's "Fame". And like that song, this one incorporates everything about 1976 pop music that was great. A little funky, a little disco sounding, a little rock, and just a hint at the New Wave to come.

H Stowe // 1 year ago
A great, mesmerizing tune from the mid 1970's. It hit the top of the charts in the summer of 1976, when the country was celebrating the Bicentennial and was recovering from the 1973-74 Arab Oil Embargo. Citizens Band radios and disco was the rage and the 55 mph speed limit was in full effect. We needed an escape from the reality that American was being faced with at the time. This song provided it. It would be 19 years before we could hit the gas again, but this song made the 1970s as fun as burning a little gas, getting out and enjoying yourself.

Gary Wright Lyrics
"Love Is Alive"

Well, I think it's time to get ready
To realize just what I have found
I have lived only half of what I am
It's all clear to me now

My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turnin'
My love is alive
My love is alive, yeah, girl, yeah

There's something inside that's making me crazy
I'll try to keep it together
'Cause what I say may not happen the same way
Now could be forever

My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turnin'
My love is alive
My love is alive, yeah, girl, yeah

My love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive

There's a mirror moving inside my mind
Reflecting the love that you shine on me
Hold on now to that feeling
Let it flow, let it grow, yeah, yeah

My heart is on fire
My soul's like a wheel that's turnin'
My love is alive
My love is alive, yeah, girl, yeah

My love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive
My love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive
Woo hoo, my love is alive
Woo hoo

STJ!
LOL John,

I'm kind of in your boat--I was born in South Dakota--moved to Seattle when I was under 2 so really don't remember that but I spent summers with my grandparents in South Dakota until I was 13 or 14. Summer storms are definitely nostalgic for me. And in South Dakota if you don't get a full blown storm practically every night you get lightening shows in between the big thunderstorms that bring rain. My grandmother who did not swear made up for it with a lot of drats and darns and invented insults over the dry storms because it made the radio so static-y that she missed the baseball game of the night. Major league baseball was broadcast on relay from Minnesota.

You and a lot of other people were watering when that storm hit--Nancy and I were watching it pour and she was complaining that the last thing she did before she left to pick me up was water the garden for half an hour. And at work our head of lab operations was complaining that she had no more than spend an entire hour watering her very dry vegetable garden when the storm reached them--she's in Washougal.

I'd have been more impressed if I hadn't spent all those summers in South Dakota, Nancy grew up just south of Chicago.

For the record--we got about thee drops of rain yesterday--all the real activity was as I thought it would be east of us. And today is supposed to just be clear and hot but they are predicting another Midwest type summer storm for tomorrow afternoon.

Tha being the case I'd better go mow the back lawn while it's till sort of cool today

Funny you played that Di - I heard it on Sirus Radio yesterday

Damn it's HOT here ! Had to flush out the spryer and booms this morning - As the chemicals I sprayed last week would kill what I'm getting ready to do

Did I say - Damn it's hot here ! Then had to load up my bug trap with a pesticide strip + a Lure for Western Bean Cutworm moth - for Purdue - I have to report daily catch's every Wed .

Opened up the values on trailer to empty out water - if you don't - in this heat - it will grow

Dang - I wish I could remember if I told you it was hot here - hate to repeat myself

Then had to go the M-Town grain - wish I had not did that stupid trick - beans down 58 cents - corn 35 ! Keep this sh!t up and Ken will be getting a burger flipping job !

Came home and picked up dog do - do - then mowed the dog lot - also found a dead baby Killdear ! I asked the 2 who did this - Nobody said anything ! I have a good feeling which one did it !

Then fixed Hamburgers on the grill - Don't really think I even needed to turn it on it so damn hot here !

Then helped clean up the mess - Mr.B and Ali - both laying under ceiling fan - OR - now this is funny - When Mr. Business comes in from the heat - he runes in and stands over the register and lets the A/C blow on his belly - Will try and get a pic of him doing this , lol

Then - I turned DT on and am just know reading all the exciting news for the day - BTW - where has SP been ? AND don't tell me she's been working ! lol

We've finally cooled down here right after we put the pool up So we're waiting for the water to warm up. We may have missed the really hot weather this year though. Usually we only have a week or two of sweating while we sleep, even with open windows and a ceiling fan.

Are those beans soy or other? I'd heard that soy beans might be a low market because of China kerfluffle??? Looks like corn is dropping too. I know you know this already, Ken, but it never seemed fair to me. A good crop means low prices; a bad crop means higher prices, but not as much to sell.

Cicadas and crickets screaming all summer is what brings me back to my childhood. That and finding Cicadas empty shells on tree trunks. Almost as good as finding a snake skin.

But you can feed yourself if you need to.

Yeah, that hail was about 10-15 miles away from where I live, on the south side of town. Hail is quite common here, especially in the spring and early summer. The further you get away from the mountains, the bigger it gets, so the biggest I've seen at my house is about marble shooter size. And that is scary enough when it's coming down...it makes such a racket.
