I let the girls out this afternoon. They were easy to round up?

They automatically know what to do, where to go and when to go to bed...

My feelings are super hurt with the wishbone thingy!

SO, all you smart a$$e$ out there (and I mean that in the kindest way because I NEED good info and know EXACTLY where to come for it), having removed (some) of the nice heavy duty scrubbable kitchen wallpaper and the papery glue stuff underneath it apparently applied by someone who knew how to put on wallpaper for maximum adherence to reveal builder-grade textured and painted apparently undamaged drywall (pause to take breath),

1. Do I need to wash the walls down with anything?
2. Do I need to prime the walls before painting them with good ole (probably semi-gloss) latex paint?

I’m still not done with the stripping (and fat help you guys have been--oops, I’m trying to be nice), but extrapolating from what I’m finding....

AND pausing for a good while to look at the doe apparently chewing cud in the thicket in the corner of my yard (a common occurrence) only to see her pop out a baby, proceeded by another one within a half hour (NOT a common occurrence in my yard)....they are up and walking, still quite shaky, but SO cute

Oh no, I just looked out again and it has started raining...poor babies, but they seem to out of the worst of it under the thicket...and it’s fairly light and over within a minute or two....they’re STILL cute

ANYWAY, any answers to my questions??

Yes Mel... All of the above. Use an adhesive solvent to remove the remaining wall paper glue.

Rinse with clear water. most wallpaper adhesive is water soluble.

Then prime with a high quality stain killing primer. This will prevent any seepage coming through your top coat of paint. (two coats)

I have rehabbed older homes since 1977.

Twin fawns? Cool.... Check to make sure that she didn't leave one behind. It happens.

Most deer around here seem to have twins--Iíve seen triplets very rarely; and one somewhat more often, but two seems to be the norm. I do know they leave their babies in different places and stay away from them a lot of the time to keep from attracting predators; baby relies on hiding abilities to stay alive.

But it is one of the problems with having a lot of wildlife around--so much of animal watching is interesting and fun--but you also get to see the injured and struggling too. Nature sucks sometimes.

Thanks for the advice. I didnít really want to hear that I should do more work on the job, but *sigh*

Mel - great advice from John ^^.
I did my first reno. on a 1982 purchase, so tip of hat to 4x4.

Any drywall cracks to fix ?
- I've actually restored plaster &/or drywall damage, with great results / another critical area, on project

I will add - without knowing the age of your house & paint type ?
- the old paint could be oil base or latex (water based)
- not knowing what was applied originally, the primer step is good insurance
- ask for a quality primer with stain blocking / that would cover up bad cig. smoke stains (for example)
- Benjamin Moore is a quality brand / Behr from Home Depot is more in the mid price range

No drywall cracks yet...just a nail hole or two. Iíve fixed one or two very minor cracks over the years, and have done a little drywall patching, taping and mudding but am nowhere near an expert.

Patching corners where the paint has been chipped down to the metal (small chips, not the whole edge) is a real non-favorite for me. Do I really have to patch, sand, re-texture and prime (texturing is my bete noire), or is there an easy way?

Most of my projects have been adding to things, not taking anything down and starting over. The house built in 1985--probably means latex?? I just know from the rest of the house that the builder seems to have put the paint on about one atom thick; any scrub or rub at all and youíre practically down to drywall.

On metal 90 degree corners - I'll sand off chip completely or fill with Durabond 90 and lightly sand.
- it doesn't shrink & dries rock hard, in 90 minutes / great stuff, prevents new cracks on repair work
- even crack repair & first coat tape (I use Durabond 90) / I don't apply compound mud, until finish coat
- CGG drywall compound (mud) is a good top coat / I use the Dust Control type
- if you need excellent puddy knives / Harbor Freight sells a nice 3 pack for $6
- the blades are stainless steel & don't rust

Your 1985 build, would be latex / probably 1 coat of builder grade primer & 1 coat of top coat = thin.

Red Rover, Red Rover send Alan right over.

He will do it, for a price.

Sounds like everyone is giving you the correct advice.

Doesn't sound like fun to me! I would rather be cooking for the crew you've hired and sit at the island table and watch between frying and stirring and putting the meal together. Am I hired for that menial task?

And, it's the weekend! I have ALL weekend to pester you all! You might get a break, however, tomorrow. I have to get my oil changed, tires rotated and drop truck off at the the body shop. But, it's supposed to storm all day tomorrow, so... You might NOT get a break. LOL

SP - We need to see the truck damage / and see a photo.
- was accident on your 2000 Z71?
- might be cheaper to just sell it (as is) vs. pay body shop to fix / easy way to get taken to the cleaners $$

Then we can have a contest - guess the value of the damage?

I am game!

One, yes or no, question at a time. If your answer is "semi" correct you will get a yes and if it's not 'semi" correct you will get a no. And, the same person can't ask the next question. So, there!

Let's play!

How does the saying go? Oh yeah: If I had a nickel for very time I F****d up one of my rigs, I'd be a wealthy guy!

Back in the day, I took out more running boards and bumpers than I can remember. Not in traffic, mostly off road. When I started putting nerf bars and rock rails on my Jeeps and trucks, all was good. My current Jeep Rubicon has heavy gauge metal all around. 4+ years old and even with my abuse, it looks like new.

Trucks used to be able to take a pretty sizable impact and roll away mostly unscathed. Today, they are all effing plastic. My Ram R/T gets damaged if I get within spitting distance of a curb, wall or other obstacle. My "99 Chev 4x4 ip/u is mostly immune to daily driving. And the occasional off road. Plus, after 18 years and never being garaged it is still gorgeous!

Happy Trails Denny.

STJ!

Edit to say: Uh... There are only 4 of us on this thread. LOL

J.

LMAO

That's okay! Everyone else aren't as weird as we are! Takes all kinds to make the world go around.

I COULD revitalize my DD thread!

Had an incident this morning. There was some potty mouth going on.

Back to the truck...

The body shop dude asked me if it had peripheral sensors. I asked him what is that? He educated me and I said obviously not! Or I wouldn't be here! Do you think he was digging at me?

AND! The girls are eating me out of house and home! They go through a 50 pound bag of chick starter in less than a week. 4 more weeks to go until I can feed them regular chicken food. Hope I can make it!

They will be 12 weeks old next Wednesday. Seems like they should be older.
