OK, you asked for it....13 minutes of time lapse photography of an apartment parking lot, during a 2-3 foot snowfall in Baltimore. Strangely mesmerizing to me--especially once people start coming out and clearing off their cars--they look like little ants running around.

One person came out 3 or 4 times during the storm to clear his car--gotta admit I've done that before--it's easier to shovel 3-4 inches of snow 3 or 4 times than to shovel the whole load once the storm is over.

From an old Car Forum, Thread titled...Beau found it funny enough to share.
- up early before 6:00 / darn sun was shinning brightly through bedroom curtains
- and a light rain, outside
Wake up / Wake up / Wake up...Chicken Hawks !!

---------------------------------

Man returns trash found on his rural property at Calgary home, fined for illegal dumping.

That reminds me of a story that happened to me, or to be more correct, a luckless lusty young lad who I never actually met.

It was about 20 years ago on the property I still live on. I was taking a stroll to what we call the upper field where I store my parts cars and where you have to drive through to get to the house. (The hillbilly ambience tends to deter unwelcome door knockers as a side benefit.)

As I strolled up there I noticed, to my annoyance, a bunch of beer cans and food containers all over the place. It had been party time for someone, however it wasn't too scattered, so I figured only one car had been parked there.

Heaving an exasperated sigh, I went back home for a garbage bag and started picking up other peoples garbage, something I have had to do many times. After picking the beer cans, the food scraps and (gingerly) a latex item or so, I was lastly picking bits of loose paper when I noticed one of them appeared to some kind of school correspondence.

A light came on in my head and I looked for a name and address and darned if I didn't find both, as well as a statement of some pretty poor grades, much to my evil delight!

I chuckled all the way to the house, told the wife what I was going to do and started making calls to all the people in the town that had that last name.

It's a small helpful town so the first people I called knew exactly whose kid that was and led me to the right family.

The next call was to the home number and I happened to get the mother on the phone. The call went sort of like this, as I recall:

Me: "Hi my name is Ken etc, do you have a son named Scumley"(Not his real name)

Her: "Yeeessss. (Cautiously)

Me: "Do You know where he was last night?"

Her : "Yeah, he was studying with a friend."

Me: "I hate to say this but I don't think so."

Her: "Why do you say that?"

Me: "Well, I was cleaning up some garbage this morning on my property close to town and I found his report card along with a bunch of beer cans and some other stuff that kind of looked like he was with a girl." (At this point I couldn't resist and added that, "By the way it doesn't look like he's doing well in Chemistry at all.)

Her: WHAT! He's not supposed to be seeing her anymore! (Pause) I'll fix him when he gets home! Thanks!

Me "No Problem. Bye.

Even as the sneaky weasel I am, I almost felt bad for that kid for the moment when he casually sauntered into the kitchen later that day and asked his mother what was for supper.

Never had a return visit though.

SP, have The Mister watch this "It's Me Or The Dog" episode, showing Harvey the Doberman and resultant behavior when pampered and catered to by one owner in the household. (and ignored by the other)

The Demonic Doberman

My wife got a kick out of episode and couldn't resist pointing out some parallels with Spock... I didn't agree with Victoria in the park scene (@ 14m) where she brings Harvey, a known dog excitable Dobe, face to face with a strange bull mastiff dog. (Intentionally done for TV drama?) After the predictable terrible first encounter, she then wisely has them walk together to get accustomed to each other. Remembering this episode from years ago, I use regularly practice this technique with Spock, walk alongs on neutral grounds, before any close meetups with new dogs.

I tried one of those head collars when Axel was a pup and he threw himself down on the floor and threw a fit.

Temper trantrum. It was comical.

You've got to carry lots of treats for her training method, but it works for many people's situations. Don't agree with using the head halter on Dobes, as she does in this episode, and the later US Doberman episode:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQWV0o6blxY

Victoria S. was keynote speaker at Pet Partners annual convention in SATX in Sept 2019, but I didn't want to pay the $300 for privilege of attending! (I really understand why they charge therapy dog teams fees for PP events, when we volunteer our time, effort and dogs for visitations throughout year?) Spock and I went downtown to Marriott hotel to volunteer for a demo PP therapy dog eval, so I was able to talk to many of the national staff before the event and Spock got to experience going to big city, parking garage, elevators, etc.

Good Morning Peeps!

I got accused of taking off with the bedroom remote yesterday. He couldn't find it.

Turns out he made the bed and the remote was under the covers.

He wouldn't admit that he "took" off with the remote. His story was I snuck it in there. I don't understand him sometimes. He was standing right there when I found it!

Same song heard here frequently. That's why I make it a point never to watch TV in Bedroom.
My rule is that bedroom is for sleeping, reading and other non-TV activities. Of course DW rules are different....

They are beautiful!

I have transplanted so many iris'. You reminded me that I left my Kansas ones at the old house.

My rule is that bedroom is for sleeping, reading and other non-TV activities. Of course DW rules are different....

While browsing for that pic, came across this excellent Meme that expresses Mel's sentiment toward Kenny, if he calls at 0500 as a "courtesy" wake-up call, as threatened in CoronaVirus thread...

What Cuz said!

It's starting to get sticky weather around here.

Gonna have to break down and turn the AC on.

Mister's choice, when. He is the one that works outside on the job and pays the electric bill.

Sorry Chicken Hawks, but would some more experienced members, please kindly explain to Beau...as I am a little naive, much to Papa's apparent innocence / and stumped for a viable answer.

- what are examples of "non-TV activities", in a Bed Room setting, besides reading or sleeping ???

- asking for a Friend

I think that is a rhetorical question...that is, one of those questions people ask that they already know the answer to, when they want a create a dramatic effect or lead a conversation in a certain direction.

Yup, I think that is what it is...

OK Mel,

I want to order the stark white one (first picture) and the white with the faint pink at the base of the petals (second picture) so I need to know where you ordered them and what their name is so I don't spend three months trying to figure out which ones they are in an on line catalog. The yellow one is nice but it didn't have quite the "pop" that the other two did.

A gardener friend of my grandmothers told me when I thought helping her plant her flower beds in the late spring was a big deal, told me that if you are planting a bed of something like a lot of pansies with basic dark colors (purple, blue, bright red, orange--to make sure you have several very plain white ones in there too--she said that it makes the dark or bright colors really stand out with that kind of contrast it make everything look better. Sometimes I can hear Miss Monica whispering in my ear--"Tell her yes, you do want the plain white ones--but don't tell her our secret".

Anyway--those are pretty spectacular.
