Good thing I didn't come from Oklahoma!

Speaking of steers, I would gladly share a side of beef with my stupid neighbors if they would keep their goats off my property.

Just saying.

I am so uncivil according to Mama Tika.

Yeah, I am still ranting.

Guess you can't fence them in and call them yours - that is if you wanted goats? Also guessing that might even cause more trouble.

I have no clue what I can and cannot do.

I've gotten mixed information from the multiple deputies that have been out here. It's civil. So, that means legal action on the civil side of the law. But, I really have the urge to exterminate certain happenings around here.

One Dep told me to keep them.

Told him I don't want goats!

Nobody cares about our trivial farm feuds. This is a big county with few patrol officers.

Kansas people are way smarter than Okies!

I don't have a problem with cheese!

I have a problem with the stupid, really stupid, and lazy neighbors next door!

Their new baby goats are really cute, but why does every one of them have to be on my five acres? They've got their own five acres!

Oh, I forgot!

My property is way better kept up. And, I've got grass.

The neighbors?

No grass and trash everywhere!

Good morning everyone. I know I probably have 10 pages worth of posts to catch up on (which I'll get to later, maybe lol), haven't had the time or energy to do much lately. Work has been an absolute nightmare this week...the commanding general made the decision to make Fort Campbell mission essential for the soldiers, while each tenant unit could make its own decision concerning the civilian workers. I won't bore you with the details of setting up laptops and creating VPN accounts for so many people, plus all the calls and tickets we got because no one thought to test their VPN BEFORE taking their laptop home.

But, our management *should* be making a decision today whether we telework starting next week, today I am home on my Friday off, Mocha and I are heading to the park in a bit, and a bit later Mrs. TN and I will be going to Lowe's and Home Depot to shop for outdoor furniture for the deck. And this afternoon, I'll be firing up the grill on this summer-like day to cook up some beef short ribs...so all is well

Huh? Whut?

OK, here's something! AJ, cute chicks! I also want to know what breed they are - I've never seen any that color.

Have you raised chicks before? I'm thinking yes? Well, in any case, this is just for general information if you already know it, but sometimes chicks that are brooded (raised under lights by hoomans) will get a chill here and there and end up with something poetically called "pasty butt." It's exactly what it sounds like - they get a little diarrhea and it dries on that fine down and plugs up their vent. (That's the "out" hole to the uninitiated.) You can pick it off (or soak it off if it's dried hard), but if you leave it on there, the chick will die in a few days. The best preventative I've found is to add cayenne powder to their chick food, at a rate of one tablespoon of powdered cayenne to one cup of chick feed. If any chicks already have pasty butt (AJ, yours don't), then double the cayenne to two tablespoons per cup. Chickens don't have capsaicin receptors on their tongues, so they can't taste the hot. Anyhow, it's a simple fix for a pretty common problem.

In other news, all our new snow melted yesterday (finally!), and Cricket is finally letting down for me, but I'm only getting just under a gallon from her each morning. I could milk twice a day (adding a milking in the evening) to increase her production a little bit, but I've never liked doing that because it pokes such a huge hole in my afternoon and I don't have time to fix dinner and feed dogs and stuff. I need a wife to take care of all my house duties, so I can do all my farm chores. Rich makes a LOUSY wife! He can't cook worth a damn, and doesn't know when to stop and empty the vacuum cleaner (it's a bagless model), so the few times I've asked him to vacuum, he jams the machine up so bad it takes me an hour to clean it out. Why is it that I'm the only one who knows how to do anything around here? (Ooops, a little rant slipped out there, didn't it?) Well, anyway, I'm only milking once a day, and that's that. It'll keep us in drinking milk, and I can probably still make at least one cheese a week. That's enough, I guess.

Nothing exciting happened yesterday, so I have nothing else to say. Wow, that doesn't happen very often!

Lannie?

I was going to make sure he was educated on pasty butt, but didn't want to offend him if he did.

At least he's only got 6 butts to monitor.
