Think this will be this years summer project on the farm - then Kadin don't have to get off the couch to go with me !

Only when you work at a church.... our semi-retired visitation pastor just came in with his four-person acapella barbershop group and sang for us, improptu, for a little Valentine's Day treat. Gotta love it!

The cooking of chili has popped up a few times on this thread and we all have a few special ingredients that we like to add. Here is article about some of the odd ingredients others add , my odd thing i add is Mandarin orange slices which did not make the list.

SO HERES THE POOP......

Scott had a successful float today.
(Thats tech talk from the salt tech dude) ....Meadowcat understands this....
ANYWAY....
Yep...Scott said he loved it and would do this again.
It consists of a suite...you have towel service......shower .....dressing room....and then you walk in this shower like door and step into a tub of salt water about 12 inches deep.
You can dim the lights in this float room...or it can have stars floating around...or it can to totally dark.
Once Scott got into the tub and layed down (bad knees but he got there ) ......he said it is the first time he could easily float on his back in water.
About the only thing that was out of the water was his face.
So anyway...he said he could not see his hand that was right in front of his face it was so dark.
So he floated ........he said he was not in a deep sleep but a resting state.
All he could hear was himself breathing and his own heart beat.
He described this as the most relaxed state he has ever been in ...while awake. (DOC you need this !!!)
To him it seemed like a short while...but he was submerged for a full hour.
AND THEN.......was he was in the deep relaxed state.......he felt a breeze of air blow across the front of his body.
Then he could hear ..real light music playing that gradually got louder.
That means its time to get yer azz out of da tub).
So he got up.....took a shower...........then I was waiting for him in the truck.
I had some harp music on in the truck ..........and drove that man home.
Hell he has been floating around the house all day......MELLLLLLLLLOW........
The best news is ......IT WAS FREE...........did not know first visit was no charge !!!!
So they do have a couples suite.....we will do that next time.
Scott says I must try ...so I will for sure.

So after this and that and the other thing we went to OutBack Steakhouse for lunch....
YUM......after all my dieting.......today.........I had .....
BREAD.........AND......BUTTER......and LOADED BAKED POTATO..........so darn good..........and chicken.
Then after a short discussion ....we decided after drinking Margaritas it was not a good idea to go gun shopping today.....so will do that tomorrow instead.
Yep....Scotts Birthday is today and I wanted to spend some money on him this year ...you know something special....and out of all the things he could pick......he wanted a new handgun.
[email protected]@@!!!!
So OK.....whatever he wanted so thats what he will get ....so OK .....yeah he has a concealed license and unfortunately it seems to be more of a necessity these days in the big cities to carry some protection.
So tomorrow....SHOPPING!!!!!!!

Yeah...Scott said there was a lot of information on posters within this shop regarding the healing powers of the salt for chronic pain and other conditions.
All I know is Scott was like mush......sleeping right now.

These two are a cute pair. They have a bunch of short videos on youtube.

Dad pretends to be dead

Dad appears to be pretty good at handling them too:

I had no idea samoyeds were so trainable. I always pictured them as husky types, stubborn and not particularly keyed in to people.

I make chili in a crock pot fairly often but I suggest that anyone who make crockpot chili with canned beans should be shot with muskets at 18 paces against an adobe wall.

REAL chili is made with dried beans--traditional (as in american) chili is usually made with little red beans

but I have made it for many years (by preference) with black beans. If you do that you don't need to add anything to thicken it.

And I should add I put a lot more garlic in my chili than the 'basic' recipe and a whole lot more chili powder and cumin than that recipe suggests. But I agree that chili without cumin isn't real chili.

I also use canned diced tomatoes a can of just tomatoes and a can of diced tomatoes with green chili's. Making it with tomato sauce and tomato puree turns into some sort of bastardized spaghetti sauce. (sorry, just my opinion).

I'll have to try fish sauce--never thought of that. But I do dump some soy sauce into practically everything that has meat in it.

I'm presently working my way through an enormous crock pot of black bean chili at the moment--it's one of my favorites for the yucky, cold, wet, rainy weather that we've had waaaay too much of this winter.

I want spring--then I'll start making chicken and dumplings instead of chili.

ABTLH

PS Seriously you put Mandarin orange slices in your chili? I mean Kenny is right when he suggested that I'm REALLY not quite right but that addition stopped me in my tracks , Alan--do you really do that?

Meldrew, Newtie is one handsome guy. Love his new toy...btw, I too looked at the lamp first, then caught on.

Happy Valentines to everyone. I made valentine cookies yesterday to give the Vets office, in case the ultrasound showed that Kiri was indeed pregnant.
But, it was inconclusive and they want me to come back next week. I was so down, I did not share my cookies with them, and came home and ate
them myself in my distress.

One of my fave chili recipe is made with black beans ( of course not canned, Dobebug ) and the ingredient that may be different for some of you, is the Guiness Stout added.

I agree with you on the dried beans, dobebug, but I use a hand ful or two or dried red beans. My chili is mostly meat - more TX style from this Boston girl. I also throw in a few tablespoons of powdered bakers chocolate. Its one of those additions that People know there is something a little different in there, but cant quite figure it out.

I like the idea if fish sauce too, for a little umami in the chili. I will have to try that next time I make it..
