melbrod Wind, sleet, snow SQUALLS, dust storms, thunder and lightning, hail, blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes, GRAUPEL

I bet you had to leave before dawn to walk to school, and it was already dark by the time you started walking back home. And then you had hours and hours (and hours) of homework to finish.

AND you didn't even have a cell phone so you could text your friends as you walked.

Kids just don't know how easy they have it now.

Cressrb I like the way you worded that, Dobebug....' a whole lot younger'. And I like, 'getting older' better than just plain, 'old'. Don't like that at all.

Not Boone's Farm, ECIN, lol. A lovely Spanish Temperanillo. My secret wine weapon is WTSO.com - a great wine website and they deliver right to my house - or my office! How awesome is that?

I'm sorry. That really sucks.

It finally dawned on me that I was having carpal tunnel symptoms, so I looked it up, and yup, that seems to be my problem. It's all the hard banging trying to pry up frozen plops and carrying heavy water buckets and etc. Of course, it's my right hand, and I do EVERYTHING with my right hand. I have a little neoprene wrist wrap I'm wearing now, which isn't the best, but it will do for a few days. I have a real one (with a splint in it) ordered and it should be here Saturday or Monday. But even the little wrist wrap seems to be helping, so hopefully I caught it in time, before I did any permanent damage. I wish I could rest it, and not do the heavy chores for a while, but when summer gets here, chores will be light. The hardest I'll have to work is putting the milker on the cows. But geez, just another thing that I have to be "aware of" right now and make allowances for. I don't like this whole getting-old thing, not at all.
Sorry to hear, Lannie. if you are feeling the pain in your wrist it probably isn't carpal tunnel, that tend to be more in the hand (had it years ago). But if you want some more self-diagnosis fun, look up De Quervain's tendonitis. My best friend has it. It feels like your wrist, but is actually the tendon by your bottom thumb knuckle. Hopefully it is neither. Either way take it easy on yourself.

And yes getting old sucks

Cressrb That is the bad thing about cats - they arrange things to their liking. But, I didn't know the name of the game they played, Lannie. Thanks, now I know.

melbrod Cats ARE evil (not as evil as chickens, but still...)

That is one of the reasons Trip is in the doghouse so often (figuratively) or in a cabinet, the dryer, a closet, the dishwasher, the refrigerator or out in the garage where he is not allowed (literally)--the little bugger is FAST--and he's not allowed in my bedroom at night.

He gets bored at about 3 AM...the phone goes over; the bedside lampshade gets stretched at (you know, the trick where they kinda stretch up against something and oh so casually dig their claws in without actually pulling down--similar to what they do in your lap--ouch, ouch, ouch--only vertical) and like as not gets knocked over; the hand-carved owl statuette my sister gave me gets his ears chewed on, and the wall and window sill gets scratched as he worms through the blinds on his way up to the window for the view (it is dark, dark, dark outside, so why????) After trying to ignore him with the pillow over my head, I get up to throw him out and he goes under the bed and smiles at me. When I finally get ahold of him, he does the boneless flop, which makes it sorta hard to get a grip and drag him out (though I suppose all-out clawing and biting would be worse)

He has free run of the bedroom during the day, but with me not in there to provoke, it's no fun, so he never bothers.

That being said, he is a VERY GOOD cat, but....a cat nevertheless. And he's all curled up in my lap asleep at the moment keeping me warm, with not nearly as many blunt toenails and elbows as the dog has when he tries the same trick. Of course, I know when he gets up, my legs will get punctured as he stretches and heads down to the floor, but for right now...it's all copacetic.
