Hopefully we'll know something tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that it's something simple but with the way she acted when it happened and her symptoms since, well, like someone said on the other thread, when it rains, it pours.

Fingers crossed.

When that first flower popped, my wife and I both were out there admiring it and smelling it; it was almost like Christmas around here LOL

Bug, we had a lot of flash flood problems after the fire on the west side of the Springs some years ago. Well, not us specifically; we're on the other side of a little ridge from the problem area—but it has something to do with the lack of vegetation on the burned areas so there was nothing to hold the water back. There were some areas where the soil was actually sterilized, the fire temps were so extreme—then it takes a LONG time for the burned areas to recover because all of the little molds, microbes etc that break down organics to make soil are gone too. They actually air dropped something or other* on some of the areas just west of town to help reseed the soil with microorganisms in addition to providing plant seeds for the new growth to help stabilize the soil.

I bet you folks will run into the same problem.

**I was looking for the name of the stuff they sprayed around and ran into this article:
Fire Effect on Soil

It's on the edge of being technical, but interesting I thought. So I'm providing it to try to raise the education level on the CT thread. (You can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink?? )
I thought it was interesting but it's the kind of stuff that I like to hear about. When I moved to southern California the early spring of 1967 (I think) it was the season after the huge Brentwood fire which was a sizable disaster and it took forever (several years) for regrowth to start in the Brentwood area. But that was a very hot fire with lots of fire material from years of no fires going up. The stuff I vaguely remember that the guys who didn't start adding things until a full year after the first was some sort of microbial mix that also included soil fungus and the year after a lot of that got added Brentwoods mini biome started to finally recover.

Cressrb Thanks Bug, yes I did know that, but I found a great home for the little one and they are driving here to get her next month. I have been wavering what to do. I usually want them spay/neutered before leaving, but in this case I may have a stricter contract.

I made Rich go up to the cabin Tues to do some things I could not help with and I too many things going on here with company coming next week.
He keeps threatening to come back and I say, no, not until that deck floor is complete! Now you all know what a mean wife I am. Actually it is hard on me having him gone too, but I have to act tough if we ever get done.
I can't leave because of the dogs. My Staffybull girl is in season and the two male Chinese Cresteds are twitterpated. They have a howl like a coyote. Put their little noses to the air and howl and soon the whole houseful of dogs are howling, including the Dobermans! It is wild. And all because of the Staffy. She will be getting spayed as soon as it is over.
Did Hurricane Laura reach your part of Fla? I was thinking about you and AJ. Not sure where you all are.
Wait a couple of months before you set up for the spay Bonnie--vets want them basically between seasons because the hormone levels have dropped to more or less normal and they don't tend to bleed as much

Poor lil' Staffy girl--only the boys love you at this point.

Had a huge thunder clap at about 4:00 am--and then it started to rain. YAY! Got lots of rain with it too., Supposed to get more today and tomorrow. Already had 1/4 or inch--first measurable rain we've had in 27 days.

Now they have possible flood warnings out for all of the burned out areas in Clackamas county. The wind direction has changed and we are now sending smoke to the Cascades and on to Idaho.

That first clap of thunder frightened Clark under the bed--he's evidently sound sensitive. Leon is fairly deaf and is griping about me not getting his breakfast for him. Joey, the loaner? He's sleeping through the whole thing.

And I'm taking my coffee and going back to bed until 6:00 am--left hand Portland side. The air quality is improving even as I type. Best it's been in days. Pretty soon I'll be able to open the windows.

C'mon fresh air.

I'm glad to hear you are getting rain - I'm hoping California will get a bunch soon. Hearing about the fires is freakish! We actually had smoky air all the way on the east coast a few days ago - crazy!!

The hurricane ....we received a lot of rain.
Drizzly kind of rain so not much flooding here.
The ground was able to keep up with lighter rain.
AJ, I do not know how they are.....he was attack by his rooster the other day and last night his lady was playing music for him so it appears the hurricane did not impact his lifestyle much.
He’s tougher than a pine knot.
Nice feet to.....
