I am lucky enough to have a Protocol dog from Jocelyn. My 6.5 yr old male is from Star (Fifi's littermate) -Rock (BIS BISS GCh Protocol's Sic Itur Ad Astra CD, RN, BH, ROM BFL-1 LC-10L X Ch Foxfire's Smoke On The Water WAC LC-10L BFL-1) He is able to do anything I ask. He has a wicked worth ethic, is a joy to live with and is the most amazing Doberman I have ever had. She does not breed often but both Bravo (MBIS Am/Brz/Car/Int'l/PanAm Ch Protocol's To The Victor Go The Spoils CAA) and Magic (Am/Can Ch Protocol's Now You See Me CA DN BFL-2) have sired some impressive litters and and will continue to do so, I assume. Jocelyn does sell all of her puppies on co-ownership, both pets and show prospects. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jocelyn and her breeding program. She was active in rescue for many years and even when she stepped away due to family responsibilities, continued to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars in kennel space to the group. She has painstakingly created her line with health, temperament and longevity in mind. She does extensive health testing, offers 24/7 breeder support and is probably one of the most honest people I know. |
She has had dogs in the Top 20 Agility and Top 20 Obedience spots as she feels titles at the end of a dog are equally as important as front titles.

Jocelyn (Protocol) Breeds pretty infrequently which is why most of the dogs you see and/or read about are sired by a few Protocol males that are standing at stud. I think her dogs are mostly stunning and when actually trained and worked in something other than conformation are capable working and performance dogs. I very familiar with some of them--Fifi--Michelle Santana had her here on the west coast for a year and Andy Linton is presently showing a Protocol dog out of Fifi sired by a really nice Liberator (Canada) male0l. He went Best Opposite Sex at the two Specialties this Friday. |
Juanta Fagan (Heartwood) is a friend--we were laughing about the fact that we've know each other for 25 years--a really lovely bitch of hers went Best of Breed (at both of the Specialties on Friday) and a Heartwood puppy went Best Puppy both days. She's established a really nice breeding line and I'd take a dog from her any day--if you are seriously interested in a Heartwood dog get on her waiting list--she's got a litter coming up and was making noises about that being the last litter she will breed.
Michelle if you are interested in a Foxfire dog (and I've had nothing but Foxfire dogs since 1998) Michelle may be harder to reach than some but trying by phone mid week is the most likely time to find her home and answering the phone. I'd e-mail first and be specific about what you want and when you want it and if you don't get a response in a reasonable amount of time (say a week to 10 days) try calling mid week and if you can't reach her in a couple of weeks of trying, send another e-mail.
Breeders who work and show and breed dogs never have any spare time--persistence pays when trying to reach them.
You know, it's interesting--I started showing Dobes in the Pacific Northwest--and even when I first started (1960) the Pacific Northwest was the best kept secret in the breed--even that far back there were breeders who were producing really nice Dobe and no one had heard of them. Now we have breeders that everyone has heard and some no one has heard of--and I think reaching the best breeders is like hoping to win the lottery--good luck!
Seriously--keep trying if you don't reach some of these breeders with one or two e-mails and a phone call of two--or if you are on the west coast look up where Dobe Specialties are coming up an if one of them is close to you try going and see if you can catch her at a show.
Lotsa' luck to all of you guys who are hunting for good puppies--keep trying--they are well worth the effort.

I've actually tried contacting Michelle with Foxfire when we were looking for our girl now, but communication was spotty, which I know isn't out of the ordinary.

|Meldrew79||My boy is sired by Am/Can Ch Protocol's Now You See Me CA DN BFL-2 (Magic). I'm a little biased, but I think he's pretty awesome.|

In that same neck of the woods, and similar vein of bloodlines, Heartwood Dobermans (Juanita Fagan) |
I've had the pleasure of exchanging with her and cannot say enough good things about her. She produced a bitch that was imported to Canada and would later become the granddam of my girl. Anyone who knew Reece, can only say good things about her both in terms of conformation and physical type, as well as importantly, her temperament.
You're lucky you have a lot of good breeders especially on the West Coast!

Hi white! |
For what it is worth, Michelle S that greenkouki mentions above is the breeder of our last 3 boys and will most likely be the breeder of our next pup.
She is Foxfire Dobermans and located in Southern Oregon. Probably a long days drive from you.
Here is her website: Foxfire Dobermans - Breeder-Owner of AKC Top Producing Doberman Pinschers
Here is her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FoxfireDobermans/
BTW... The girl on upper right hand corner of Foxfire's Facebook page (Jewelia) is the dam of my boy McCoy
Best to you your search.
I like your timeframe also.

|greenkouki||My dog is sired by Fifi's son, who's the #1 doberman right now. While Jocelyn's not my breeder she is kind and would be a good person to talk to. Do you plan to show? If you like that type/style of doberman there are some other breeders we could recommend- Michelle Santana for instance.|

We're casually looking around for our next dobe (casually because our girl is 18 months old now and we hope to get another when she's about 3!), which we hope to be a red male, and was just wondering if anyone has experience with Protocol Dobermans? I first heard of them at the Nationals last year with the gorgeous Fifi taking the Best of Breed but so far have only found their FB page. I know of dogs sired by Protocol dogs from other breeders but just curious to see if anyone here has a Protocol dog!
