I don't have to worry about that. I refuse to fly anymore.
I don't even like driving to the AP to pick someone up.
I will gladly give guests my address and they can figure out how to get here.

I did ask when calling ahead and every one said we will be waiting on you to get here , not bragg8ng here , but they were the hit of the camp grounds = Rock Stars. Lol. I think it was a want to see thing ,, Kids were always great when we hit the road , they loved it ! But like us , were glad to get back home -
Now ! What old Doc thinks - I read all the posts on the camper site and the negitive. Response. Weíre Yapper owners ! I have run in with them type before - they really look down on us . Funny thing , All I had to do was pull out a milk bone and put it in between my teeth tell Kasia easy , lean down and she would take it out of my teeth easy , they looked at me in surprise and said they would never try that with there little dog nuff said ! Then they would stop by and see us lol
Donít give up , camping is a lot of work then add the Dobies , but so much fun

As far as camping goes, I recently found out that a lot of private campgrounds have breed restrictions which include dobermans, read this thread I started on another forum
Camping is a no go for us this year and maybe forever, long story short...we purchased a TT and had it all hooked up, had electrical issues before we left the dealership and ended up walking away from the deal (full story posted on the thread I shared)
Best of luck to you and your new boy!

Hi fellow ATCer! |
My summer plans include welcoming a rescue dobe into my home. I joined this forum like 10 years ago, hoping to get one back then... then life happened. Now, finally Iím getting my chance to be owned by a dobe heís a sire confiscated from a puppy mill and literally does not know how to dog, so Iím looking forward to giving him the best life I can. Hopefully lots of road trips and camping in the near future for us and my beagle.

Pictures like Mel said OR she will send you to the Woodshed ! lol Just go over the world famous - the one and only - Chicken tread Other wise known as the girls outside tread and Ask SP how many times she has been sent there !
Have a great time !

That sounds cool, CR. Are you doing a study or population count kind of thing, or just wandering around looking under leaves and up in treetops to see what you can spot? |
We EXPECT lots of pictures of whatever you find!!

I turn 70 next month, so for my special summer/birthday treat I'm joining a herpetology expedition to Guatemala to look for snakes, lizards and frogs. Birds too! |
Ziva will go spend the 10 days with her "other family" and their dogs - she loves staying with them.

|MeadowCat||Right now, mostly my plan is to enjoy my break from sewing until the big Christmas in July sale. Hoping to get Sypha into another Nosework trial, and she has a seminar next month, so focusing on that some, but also just enjoying having free time, since I don't have much of it the rest of the year|

LOL CF... |
I grew up in Detroit in the '50s and '60s. It was known as the "Paris of the US".
Arts, Music, Architecture, Jobs, Sports... You name it.
It went to hell in a hand basket in a matter of a few years. I left in1971, never to return except for visits.
Corrupt government (think Coleman Young), corrupt unions (think Jimmy Hoffa), greedy corporations (think GMC/Ford) and racial strife took our beautiful city down in a matter of years. It was a perfect storm of ignorance, malfeasance, criminal activity and racism. Plus middle-class flight to the suburbs.
I hope that that our once wonderful city will return some 40+ years later.
Oh also... BTW. I don't pay to fly. FC via millions of earned miles. Again.. I HATE FLYING!
|06-10-2019 09:27 PM|
BTW I hate to fly too, not for the normal reason but because I hate the process, hurry up and wait to get to the airport with enough time to clear TSA to sit around and wait for your flight, oh and hope itís not delayed (usually not our fault even though the airlines like to blame us), then get stuffed in an airplane as tight as you can. Plus I spend a lot of time in and around an airport so it gets old real fast.
Also, if your looking to fly into DTW Sundayís are usually the most expensive day to fly in.
|06-10-2019 08:57 PM|
Yeah..... What Mel said ^^^^ |
Heck Mel! How did you know that DTW is in Romulus MI?
Pretty nice airport for a POS city!

Summer plans addendum: |
My Father is 92, as is my Mother in Law. My nephew is getting married at the end of the summer. All live in Detroit.
So... I am thinking about heading back to Detroit for a bit. Although I talk to my dad and MIL all the time, maybe I need to say HI in person...
I hate flying.
Still... Tempus Fugit

I don't have much going on this summer with dogs. My club (Quaker City) has supported entries over fathers day weekend, but both judges dumped Mabel at shows so I'm not entering her. Mabel just went into her second heat today - so we are just hanging out. I'm hoping to bring her back out to shows later in the summer. She has 7 points with one major, and I am in no rush to finish her. Harvard is doing well at 11 1/2 - but I keep his outside time limited when it is really hot out. Jezebel is happy to hang out. |
My younger daughter is home from college for the summer - she will be a senior in the fall. She is taking the GRE test tomorrow, and will work as a camp counselor as soon as the kids are out of school next week.
We are taking both our daughters and their boyfriends to an all inclusive in Antigua later this summer - we would normally do a cruise, but decided to try an all inclusive. Our oldest daughter now lives and works in NYC - which is only 2-3 hours away, so might get there once or twice.

Summer plans? I got no stinkin' summer plans!! |
The sciatic problem is a wait and see what it feels like day to day. I think it's getting better but basically my summer plans wouldn't change much.
County fairs sound like they'd be about my speed. As for anything else--it's all I can do to keep the lawns mowed, edged and fertilized (so they'll grow faster so I can mow more often). And get all the rest of the stuff that provides summer flowers (and fall flowers and if that didn't take up enough time I am presently teaching ear posting 101 to a lady with a 10 week old puppy and posting modification for ears with unacceptable problems for another woman whose puppy is a year old and has standing ears but a pocket induced tip in one ear.
And I'm dog sitting for a week in a couple of weeks and dog sitting for a couple of weeks some time in July.
Good thing my idea of a hot vacation is staying at home reading 17 books taking naps every afternoon with the cats and going to at least one dog show a month even though I have nothing to show any more (sorry Toad but even though I could enter you in Veterans--over 11 years you have so many lumps I think they sort of mar your intrinsic beauty)
And now I shall go and plant the rest of the raised beds (all of which have a big row of phlox in full bloom--I don't remember planting them but they are in neat rows so I must have done that--last fall when I do remember tossing out some seeds that were supposed to in in the fall--but I thought it was Calendula--guess not.

Hopefully lots of hikes and outdoor time! |
I have an AKC scent trial in June, a NACSW element trial in July and just got into an NW3 in September. There will be a lot of training going on!
