No worries...we mostly go around in circles anyway. I imagine you've been around long enough to figure that out anyway.

I hope you find out it's only the top of the deck (or maybe just a few boards--joy,joy) So much work to repair them, and expensive too.

Hey i am a member of that club to
Yes you are AJ--no doubt about it.

Since it's only Thursday morning (and the internet installer doesn't arrive until sometime between 1 and 5 pm). And I'm in the library again--here's a sort of catch up.

Gotta' thank Lannie and Ken for the sacred recipes--I'll be careful to not pass them along. They both look like my cup of tea (?--um my kind of cassarole I guess) and I'll give you reports on the end results--I'm working my way through a scalloped potato and sausage number right now and have a batch of split pea soup scheduled for next week.

But for now have to start planning on removing old shower and install new one. Remove dishwasher and replace. Tear off the deck top and replace....if nothing else is wrong. And lots of cleaning/boxing. Getting prepped to find that perfect house...

LOL!! I guess you've now become an official member of the "not quite right" group--has to be pretty much the same thing as the "off" group.

- Papa does said drywall repair & painting
- all to top Professional standards, hardly seen today
- during my off hours, LDi & Scott can entertain Beau
(sight seeing, bar hopping, party time & great eats)
- in my spare time, I can look through the local classifieds
- buy another 15 year old Chev pickup z71, rust free with 4wd
- drive home, with a wad of cash & another good pickup...win-win

Plan on our next profit flip together...sounds good to me, show me the money !!
- Hoss & Kelly, would approve

melbrod SD, that is not a NATURAL mountain. Natural mountains have bumps and no straight lines...trust me, I know.

And our sun SETS in the west behind the mountains, but I DO occasionally get up before it sets. So there!

Sounds like a busy somewhat stressful day at the school. Yay for Spock settling down to his job after all that though. They SHOULD have warned you, but I guess it might be a compliment that they didn't think it was necessary??
12-12-2019 09:03 AM
ECIN Mel - Here's how you do this - you said your time was 5:38 and ahead of our time - so this is what you do - just set your cloaks up 2 hours - then you will be on the same time as the rest of the world then you won't think it's that early !

Problem solved !

btw - No charge

Barberries? Do they end up tasting like tart raisins? We cook a lot of varieties of Indian and....I don't know what the Pakistan/Afghanistan/Persian/Punjabi area is called...but we do it.
I'm pretty sure it gets just as cold in Wisconsin as it does here, but maybe they have more water. We're pretty much dryland out here, so not very conducive to small mammals (or marsupials), unless they make it to our place, LOL! She said she's sure it's a possum and looking at her pics of the tracks in the snow, I would agree. If it's a rat, it's the biggest damn rat I'VE ever heard of. She put a walnut shell by the tracks for scale.

Barberries are tart, yes, but way more flavor than a raisin. They are unique. You put a cup of barberries in a pan with a cup of olive oil, a handful of dried orange peel, half a cup of slivered almonds, and a cup of sugar and bring it to a bubble. I don't use a whole cup of sugar because I don't like overly sweet stuff, but it needs a little. Then when the berries are plumped up, you ladle that in layers with the mostly cooked rice and chicken, cover it, and cook it for an hour on low(ish) heat. It will make a crust of crunchy rice on the bottom, but my new non-stick pan seems to be lacking in the crunchy rice department. I think there's too much oil, so I need to play around with the amount until I hit the right ratio. For a stainless steel pan, the oil is right, but it makes the bottom soggy in the non-stick pot. It's still wickedly delicious, though. The other Persian recipes I have don't call for boiling dried berries in oil, so just a drizzle on the bottom of the pan before I layer the rice and other stuff in is perfect, and makes the most delicious layer of crunch you could ever believe. I could eat this stuff every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

ABTLH
I'll ask him. He keeps it a secret from me, so he can have SOMETHING he makes that's better than my cooking, LOL! But basically, it's hamburger, crunched up saltines, a handful of dried vegetable mix, and I think some ketchup. I'm sure there's an egg or two in there as well, but I'll ask him for sure. Oh, and olives! The potatoes he slices thick and slathers half a stick of butter in the frying pan (it's a rectangular electric jobbie, but you could use a large cast iron pan with smaller amounts of meat and potatoes), and layers the potatoes in, single layer, while he's mixing up the meatloaf. When the meat goes in, he turns the potatoes and then stacks them staggered on each other, to make room for the meatloaf, which he just plops in there in a lump, then dumps in a bag of frozen baby lima beans in the corner and covers it for 30 to 40 minutes until it's done. He has the fry pan set at 325 or 350 (I need to ask), so I'm guessing a cast iron pan on medium low would be about equivalent. You want a nice little bit of crust on the bottom of the meatloaf, and the bottoms of the potato slices should be nice and dark brown, with a bit of crunch. It's VERY good! The meatloaf is done but moist, and NEVER dry, and the potatoes are smooth on the inside and crisp on the outside, and fried lima beans are the only way Rich will eat them. I have to admit, they're really good fried.

I pan fry up 2 lbs of Hamburger - drain the grease off - I just use a big spoon and move the burger over and tilt the pan so the grease runs to the side and dip it out - put it in a cleaned out cottage cheese container and put in freezer till trash day -

this is sort of tricky here - but what ever pasta you like - we use little sea shells - but wife got the wrong box and I used ? More like a medium type - and it all depends on how much you want in it - today , I just fixed a whole box and keep adding till I thought that it looked right - wife was happy - so I guessed close
Also -you have to boil it ! The bigger shells take long to get tender - but it will cook some when put in the oven

Then after mixing the pasta and hamburger - I added a can of diced tomatoes ( 14.5 oz ) no salt added

2 cans ( 6.5 oz ) of Mushrooms - all depends if you like rooms - you can put in what ever amount you want ( drain them before adding )

1 jar of Ragu - We use traditional , old world style sauce ( 24 ozs )

Mix it all up and put it in a baking dish - then cover the top of it with a 7 oz bag of Sargento Shredded cheese - I use the Extra sharp cheddar but do not cover the baking dish

Set oven at 350 and bake for 30 minutes

This does make a lot - so you could cut the P in half , I guess - but someway , ours don't stick around long
So it's like spaghetti and cheese but with non-spaghetti noodles? I like that idea. I love cheddar on my spaghetti, and it's even better when it's all baked and gooey.

Mel is a child of the natural mountains, so her morning doesn't begin until the sun reaches it's Zenith (i.e. high noon)

B) Arrived with Spock early in E.S. parking lot at 0715. Parked in far parking space isolated by empty spaces on each side. Waited in car with Spock for majority of late students to be dropped off by parents, before the Tardy Bell at 0730. A club cab pickup pulls in space one over from us and I don't pay it no mind at some younger people get out. Was looking at my phone when Mr. Spock starts to whine and bark like a maniac at car next to us. I look out and a pack of (4) dogs on leashes had been unloaded from the truck! WTH!

I had no info from emails that any other animals were going to be at this career day, I mean, what are the chances? Oh boy, this day was not starting out well... I rolled down window and inquired to handler about dogs- he was from a guide dog training organization...

Still had some time to kill, so waited another 10 minutes for the pack & handlers to enter school and we headed in. (Remember, Spock has been attending this school weekly for 1-1/2 years in the Read With Me program) While headed in, we walked alongside an attractive brunette, active female FBI agent, sharply dressed, pushing a cart full of body armor and LE equipment into school for career day. I couldn't tell if she was packin' - Wowza! Ahhhh...yeahh...back to the dog story.....

Got just outside the front door and I spot "the pack" still hangin' around the check-in desk- WTH X2? One handler had to come back out with dog, since she forgot her ID. Many late students still arriving at this time- area busy. Spock was peeing on his regular bush outside the entrance and started barking when he saw dog emerge, so I pulled him away to another area outside building. Fiinally, when the pack got checked in and away from registration desk, I headed in with Spock.

We did our normal check-in routine, which includes admin asst. giving Spock a handful of Cheerios as he puts big paws up on desk. About this time ANOTHER DOG enters building about 12 feet from us at check-in desk. WTH X3 !!! This is a yellow lab drug detection dog with Police Officer handler. Immediately both dogs exchange barks, so officer heads back outside until we cleared check-in desk and head to library. Believe me, whole school could hear these barks from a Dobe & Lab inside! I mentioned to coordinator of event, the guidance counselor, that I wasn't informed other dogs would be attending. After getting to Library, everything went smooth and no more excitement for rest of visit, thankfully!

We were assigned a 4th grade classroom near an exit, for fast potty breaks. Spock and I gave (4) x 20 min. presentations for different 4th grade classes. This included Dobe Therapy Dog presentation, same I sent you guys, and a Pet Partners info sheet w/handout. When classes rotated many of the kids met and petted Spock, and the rest after we completed each presentation. He was laid back, calm and loving to all in attendance, about (100) students and faculty (just not the other dogs). He's so good at this, when I'm talking to class, Mr. Spock just sits & leans against my leg, in Dobe velco style...

I used student volunteers to demonstrate proper strange dog approach techniques and awarded students laminated Spock/Eva bookmarks for answering questions about presentation material. I had him perform some obedience & tricks to perk him up and get his airplane ears up to full Dobe alert mode! Two girl students in one class said their family had Dobes at home.

Had one quick potty break between sessions #3 & 4. Finished at 1000 and headed out of school. I spoke with coordinator and mentioned that since Spock has been coming to this school for so long, he might have perceived the strange dogs, coming into his extended "home" as intruders, hence the barking.

Another possibility- Spock was smelling the hallway floor like crazy, heading out of the school, so maybe one of the young female guide dogs (who had peed inside) could have been in season? This could explain the crazy males barking? Maybe I'll link some pics later, when they're posted. Headed home via coffee kiosk for Pup-A-Chino and then a good nappy nap!

Tonight- School district Superintendent awards at HQ for volunteers, including our Pet Partners Therapy Dog teams. I heard another (3) Therapy dog teams (Paws for Service) would be attending, so I'm taking Eva to preclude any dog-dog interaction, since media might be there- she ignores other dogs.

melbrod Well, I don't necessarily FEEL real at 5:38 AM (my time is earlier than yours), but yeah, I'm here. I was just going to post about how even my best attempts at fitting in don't get noticed and how you morning people are overrated, but you managed to save yourself from the rough edge of my tongue by alerting the crew, Kenny.

I had some kind of virus over the weekend (Norovirus??--my daughter said it was going around school) and my stomach on down still feels a little icky on occasion. So when I had an early morning battle to awareness, I wasn't feeling too chipper and wasn't able to just roll over and go back to Happyland--so here I am.

Not happy. But maybe starting to feel well enough to go back to bed again. When you don't go to bed in the first place until 3 or 4 AM, a potty call at 5:30 does seem a bit.....unfair.

LadyDi Man bad dream last night...freaky.......dreamed Scott and I got arrested at our house .....and in the moment of us being shackled and cuffed all I was concerned about was who was going to take care of Hoss. I was allowed one phone call and I called Brutus's Dad to come get Hoss.
Man o man ...I think I am obsessed with my Doberman......was REALLY REALLY glad to great the day.
Whew!!!
