StrykersPerson Thanks, Kenny.

Can't sleep tonight! Just got a corporate invite to a meeting with Estero, Florida HR. They are coming to OKC.

We've all been raising hell for the last two years.

Been sending out the employee surveys with extremely negative results.

Corporate was here last year because of the negative employee surveys. They are coming back out again next week.

I hate drama.

But, some people with power need to go!

I hope this is the final powwow.

Nerve racking as hell!

Okay? Thanks!

So, I have to work tomorrow for 4 hours and then 3 hours on Sunday.

Such a waste of fuel!

Guess I should be a Positive Polly and appreciate the over time?

Working a 14 day run sucks!

Okay, I feel better now.

Thank you very much for listening.

Good ! Glad you got that of your system , Now go to bed and quit waking us up with these rants

Sweet Di!

Cat Stevens is a nice touch.

This reminds me of Axel.

Sucks to lose them.

The missing them goes on forever. Until we all meet at the rainbow bridge.

melbrod This is an old post---from more than a year ago on this very thread, but I think this might be an appropriate day to revisit it.

It's OK here though, because we are hotter than 92 degrees.

But right at ninety-two degrees lies the apex of irritability, everything is itches and hair and sweat and cooked pork. The brain becomes a rat rushing around a red-hot maze. The least thing, a word, a look, a sound, the drop of a hair and — irritable murder. Irritable murder, there’s a pretty and terrifying phrase for you."

And the final paragraph:

"They stood in the little store across from the tenement. It was five-thirty, the sun tilting down the sky, the shadows the color of hot summer grapes under the rare few trees and in the alleys.
"What was it, hanging out of the husband's back pocket?"
"Longshoreman's hook. Steel. Sharp, heavy-looking. Like those claws one-armed men used to wear on the end of their stumps, years ago."
Mr. Foxe did not speak.
"What's the temperature?" asked Mr. Foxe, a minute later, as if he were too tired to turn his head to look.
"Store thermometer still reads ninety-two. Ninety-two right on the nose."
Foxe sat on a packing crate, making the least motion to hold an orange soda bottle in his fingers. "Cool off," he said. "Yes, I need an orange pop very much, right now."
They sat there in the furnace, looking up at one special tenement window for a long time, waiting, waiting . . ."

melbrod Stay safe, MC.

It's 96 here at the moment, but with the humidity of 12%, our heat index is *only* about 90.

And now for our dog history lesson of the day:

George Washington was interested in dog-breeding, aiming for a breed which would be perfect for fox hunting in America, which he named "Virginia Hounds". These dogs became the foundation of the American Fox Hound, and Washington is often called the father of that breed.

He kept a variety of dogs, probably more than 50 over his lifetime, among which were English Foxhounds and French Staghounds, and other breeds including Black and Tan Hounds, Greyhounds and Coachdogs (Dalmatians).

A list of a few of them:

Foxhounds...Mopsey, Pompey, Pilot, Duchess, Lady, Ragman, Countess, Must, Cloe, Searcher, Forrester, Rover, Lady Rover, Trueman, Jupiter, Juno, Venus and Captain.

Among his French Staghounds were Sweet Lips (Sweet Lips was apparently one of his favorites), Scentwell and Vulcan.

Madam Moose, his coachdog (dalmatian) of whom Washington noted in his diary, “A new coach dog [arrived] for the benefit of Madame Moose; her amorous fits should therefore be attended to.”

He also had a few Black and Tan Hounds....Taster, Tipler, Tipsy and Drunkard.

I'd like to know the story behind those last few names.

LOL, we had it pretty easy back then...fitness test once a year which consisted of a 1 1/2 mile run which had to be completed in (I think) 12 minutes...they also had different times for different age groups.

Beaumont67 Funny...

An Oklahoma State trooper pulled a car over on I-44 about 10 miles east of Oklahoma City. When the trooper asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver said he was a Magician and Juggler and was on his way to Tulsa Oklahoma to do a show for the Shrine Circus. He didn't want to be late.
The trooper told the driver he was fascinated by juggling and said if the driver would do a little juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a ticket. He told the trooper he had sent his equipment ahead and didn't have anything to juggle.

The trooper said he had some flares in the trunk and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler said he could, so the trooper got 5 flares, lit them and handed them to him.
While the man was juggling, a car pulled in behind the State Troopers car. A drunken good old boy from southern Oklahoma got out, watched the performance, then went over to the Trooper's car, opened the rear door and got in. The trooper observed him and went over to the State car, opened the door asking the drunk what he thought he was doing.
The drunk replied, “You might as well take my ass to jail, cause there ain't no way I can pass that test.”
