modm OK I caved in and decided not to braid the small rolls.

My wife rolled them into ball shapes - now rising. I will egg wash then snip little "x's" on the tops and sprinkle a mixture of poppy seeds, sesame, etc....on top.
Bake at 350 deg.

Then to help her with potatoes. Well I can watch. She has already washed, peeled, and cut them up. Soaking in salt water with 5 cloves of garlic. Soon to be cooked.
She is way more organized, efficient than I am.

Of course there are times when it seems like whatever team I am for is going to lose. I'll turn off the TV in disgust when my team starts getting squashed (fair weather fan I am) and then turn it back on later just to check....lo and behold, my team is winning again! So I keep watching, and they immediately go downhill and lose.

That is me!!! Not exactly a fair weather fan - but when I watch they seem to lose - so I do not watch! So they have a better chance. Like I have some sort of control over the outcome...

I use the Kerry Gold as well - unsalted. Sometimes Plugara (sp) - Believe they have more fat content - softer, melt easier, and more yellow in color.....

Yup, they're all right there in a big pile--until they're shipped, that is.

Pretty amazing too, MC!

melbrod I had someone order a high end set of golf clubs on my card once. They had them shipped to Hawaii, though...no problem convincing the credit card company that it was not my order.

alan j. Hi LDi...Do you think can ride Scotty on the back of the bike...days do not get much better than this , huh

alan j. I am constantly dealing with credit and bank fraud. I am debating about going to the police this week about a check that was written on my business account...i am not sure if they will do anything to her and it will take time from my day.
I had someone open bank account in my name a few years back , it was a fairly big deal since they were using a service with the post office that would hold your mail and allow someone to physically go to the post pick out mail they wanted and send the rest to the address. You would not be aware that your mail was being messed with since the criminal was picking out any correspondence that for their fraud. They would build confidence with the bank with small purchases and then go full out on money spending. We caught it when one piece of mail got through and shut it down as it was ramping up. It was a big deal and we were on the local news due to this unique way of fraud.
Early on in married life someone had opened a credit card in my name in Jacksonville, its purchases were be done high-end womens fashion stores. My girl thought i had a little honey that i was taking care of on the side... she was not happy with me for a days
These frauds and others have never cost me any money but plenty of time and aggravation.

MeadowCat Morning all!

Marathon sewing yesterday...I think I sewed 11 coats? Also managed to get the dogs out for a walk, did a little training with them to entertain them (just a bit of conditioning on their Fitbones, tricks, etc). They were really good all day - I so appreciate this stage of life when they can hang out with me for 7 hours of sewing! Sypha's in the midst of being holtered, too.

Today I'm having coffee (maybe brunch) with my mom, sewing a little more, and then just relaxing. The long sewing day took a bit of a toll...I'm tired!

We're in for a more snow starting late tonight - supposed to get 3-6 inches. Tomorrow's commute is supposed to be nasty. Tuesday the temps drop to COLD. Very cold. Yuck.

modm So Done with first stage of roll making.

Made the starter (30 minutes) - yeast water and flour

Mixed
Flour
Starter
50g Water
6 eggs
4 egg yolks
2/3 cup sugar
4 tbs honey
1.5 sticks butter

Kneaded for almost 30 minutes - I do not have a stand mixer capable of that type of dough. I typically let time take care of kneading. So my arms / shoulders are tired.

Rising for an hour - then divide into 24 equal pieces and roll out to 16" or so and then make a braided roll
Rise again until puffy
Bake....

Ok Doc - maybe going to the grocery store is best!

It is like

Yes - I think there is a difference in butter - Even store bought ones. European etc...

I would bet Lannie makes some terrific butter!

Lannie, a few posting tips:

When you compose an extremely long post, like many of yours are, before hitting "Preview Post" or "Submit Reply" buttons, Copy all the post text to your clipboard. That way, if server is acting up and doesn't post reply properly, you haven't lost your text. You can then recompose reply by simply pasting your saved text back in text box! You can also paste this into a draft word doc as backup.

Another thing that works when posting gets bogged down or returns an error is to use Browser Back Arrow, which will take you back to the compose page. Then I would definitely copy and paste into word or text doc to save until issue resolved.

It's happened to me many times on Customer Service email pages where one has to type in long messages. Now, I always copy to clipboard before submitting, just in case.

I was credit card fraud'ed 2x in last 20 years, that story later C-Hawks.
- one that has the usual PapaBeau twists & turns, but always take on a positive Beau outcome

Now this other story, was practically - to good to be true.
- our mattress was old, and we both complained about it...except the dog, of coarse
- so Larry does his superb research & order a Canadian made foam mattress, so no China foam gases
- lady on phone, kept screwing up my address & postal code (a number of times)...dyslexic or just plain stupid
- next she took down my credit card #, for payment
- because I've been bank fraud before, credit card company put a hold on $950 purchase
- 30 minutes later Beau and Kelly at the vets, and mattress sales desk call me back, for my credit card # again
- transaction won't go through

So I call the 1-888 card number, and can't reset my card because I had earlier cancelled my land line phone #, so a security problem.
- now I have to drive to the bank, and get a manager to call corporate & fix my card
- the mattress lady, never called me back for payment
- and the $950 mattress, was delivered the very next day.

Like I said, the dyslexic or just plain stupid sales agent, sent me a Free mattress...without payment.
- now this is called PapaBear Economics, at the finest

Ahem...Frank, I don't think we have too many "young'uns" on the CT. Closest is RADAR, who we rarely see, and MC, who likes to hang around with us OG's cause we share lots of food pics and recipes.
Now in LaDi's and SP's own minds, they're still 24, (and man hungry). I have no idea how old AJ is, or even what he looks like, just his feet?

Ken can you share the "greetings" included on the card, also?

Did it say something like: "I WON'T BE IGNORED, KEN !!!", along with a picture of a boiled pet rabbit in a stewpot?

Emotional Picks - LSU (as I am an Auburn/SEC guy - and they are tigers), Clemson (as I live in SC and they are tigers!), Ohio St (Since back in the day I did live in Ohio)….leaving Oklahoma 4th (Even though not to be counted out) (sorry SP - I know you live there - but Kansas fan) (double - or triple parenthesis Ma! )

I know folks say Clemson hasn't played anyone - but their QB/receivers are quite good....RB is fantastic.
Plus - Clemson and Auburn have quite a few ties/similarities -

They are Tigers!
The first three coaches in Clemson football history were Auburn graduates.
Both schools have a main administration building on campus that is virtually the same architecture.
Clemson’s Tillman Hall was modeled after Auburn’s Langdon Hall.
Lewis Grizzard used to refer to Clemson as “Auburn with a Lake.”

To name a few - lastly a number of engineers at work went to Clemson.

If LSU and Clemson play first due to rankings
Ohio State did not impress last night. Yes, they ended up winning but like I said a few weeks ago, they have some serious flaws which a good coach/team can exploit. Having Justin Fields (who's a huge part of their offense) hurt and semi-mobile sure didn't help either but still...

I tried posting a pic of Horus for SP, and that's where I started having trouble with the 'puter, so maybe I did something wrong. I'm afraid to try again now. I'll do it later by itself, so I don't end up losing a bunch of typing.

And whoever was saying they don't make brioche because it takes 2 days (I forgot who it was now), you don't have to wait that long. I make it all the time, and I use it right after I make it. If it's still a bit soft, 30 minutes in the fridge will firm it up nicely. I use brioche to make cinnamon rolls, YUM! One thing I've learned about bread is there's a recipe, and then there are the "other" ways you can achieve the same result. Since I'm all about saving time, I do things as quick as possible, and no way does brioche need 12 hours in the fridge. Try it sometime.

Oh, yeah, and I'm up every morning at 3:00 am now that it's winter. I just don't get on the computer right away because I have other duties that need to be done first. Animal stuff, catz and dogz.

What else was I going to say....... oh, I told Rich the pics he was sending me were too small, so he sent me a test one that's bigger. It looks the same to me, on my computer, but when I get up the nerve to try posting the picture of Horus, I'll also post that test picture and see if it works any better.

OK, I guess I forgot all the rest. Gonna go have another cup of coffee now, then I have to go wake up that grumpy bear, Rich, and get ready for morning chores.
