Yeah.. The Rockies. It sits on its own mountain. The town and lodge are well above 7000'. Probably more like 7500' It is in the middle of the Gallatin River Canyon. Across the river is Yellowstone National Park. On the other side are rising mountains. Climb a trail to 10,000' and the vistas are incredible.

Very accessible for such a spectacular location. It sit's halfway between Bozeman and West Yellowstone, both of which have airports.

In late spring or very early summer, one may encounter:

Moose
Elk
Bison
Wolves
Coyotes
Deer
A variety of raptors, including Bald Eagles.
Bears, both Black and Grizzly.

The Gallatin is considered to be one of the premier trout streams in the US.

My favorite time to visit the area is before or after tourist season. May/early June or mid to late September.

It is all weather dependent.

modm Every once in a while I get in the mood for Celtic style music....here are a few I am listening to as I browse through DT

Relaxing music

Added lyrics even though these are instrumentals.

George Skarogiannis - Acoustic Guitar of Skellig - Loreena McKennitt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIm3gD6bm38

O light the candle, John
The daylight has almost gone
The birds have sung their last
The bells call all to mass

Sit here by my side
For the night is very long
There's something I must tell
Before I pass along.....

One more Loreena McKennitt Dante's Prayer (Piano Cover)PacificPoem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYso_Zae9OU
When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars....

And last one another guitar -Celtic Guitar Duet by Steve Baughman and Robin Bullock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9bm4W_0rxQ

Geez, come ON, AB. Helping people with their dobe problems instead of keeping up here? Where are your priorities??

Big Sky is only 45 miles up the Gallatin River canyon from our cabin. Gorgeous area. Fabulous hiking. It's also Grizzly territory. LOL

melbrod And ECIN....I was up all night. Mostly. I took DogDog over to the agility gym to practice at about 10:30 last night, and that set back my sleep schedule.

So I took some extra beauty rest--though not much beauty here; I need that much just to get back to not giving people one of those can't unsee moments.

Temps here? We've managed to get into at least September range

Today 73/46.
Monday 79/50
Tuesday 81/51
Wednesday 76/47
Thursday 79/50
Friday 76/48
Saturday 77

September is typically the beginning of the drop--mid October the average lows drop into the low 30's and don't get back above freezing until the end of April. A long winter and a short growing season.

That is what we will look like as well - but we drop to low 90's high 80's first of Oct. Also we start warmer earlier in the week....guess that is why we drop in temp quicker? But who knows - by this time next week it may be a bit different weather

Burn barrel out in back for anything that would burn and a pile of drying vegetation, leaves and miscellaneous wood--burned that when dry too. And (drum roll please) a metal garbage can that contained all metal (cans flattened) and about twice a year my aunt would cart it off to the town dump
Shoot, I did that wrong... well, anyway, this is exactly what we do, but there's no dump, either, LOL! Rich (my hubby) takes all the flattened cans to a recycle place about once a year when we have a big box full, and gets a few bucks for them.

I'm really sorry I missed out on this thread earlier. There were quite a few topics listed I would have enjoyed participating in! Well, I'll try to pay attention better now.

Ken, I'm outta time again this morning (gotta get ready to go milk and do chores), but I'll just copy and paste that chicken and calf story here later, K?

I'm going to have to go start bringing in tomatoes and get the canner fired up as well - it's 45 degrees right now. Won't be long before the tomato plants go bye-bye. I hate fall, because it means winter is coming, and winter here is brutal. The older I get, the colder the winters are. Go figure.
