alansmith Watermark is used to protect your photo. Many people can search images from Google and save your photos and use them for any purpose, personal or commercial It is impossible to prevent someone from downloading your photos but you can definitely discourage them by adding a watermark on your photos. Good idea.

annolyn I really wanted to place watermarks on my photos but can't seem to get the photobucket link to work. Does anyone know how or is there another way I can access the information?
Sorry, I'm not very good with computer stuff... I tried going onto photobucket and figuring it out but that didn't work :/ Not surprised.
Thanks

Herb2relax Yes, thank you for reminding me about doing something to my picks. My daughter just went through this. A her and a group of friends had made what they so called a friend in another state on myspace. They found out about a year later that she had been taking their pics and created new myspaces pretending to be them with a different name. I know this is different with people trying to sell pups they dont have. I will go back and water mark my pics, well try the link to the photobucket tututorial is not working or I cant get it to.

Kpablo I honestly don't like the idea of disabling right click. Honestly, I see pictures I posted of Louie months and months ago, that I forget about and don't have saved on my computer, and I like to right click and save those.

Basically there is a plugin for this forum's software that would place a light watermark on every photo uploaded or attached. Yay? Nay?
I'm in for that idea!

Burns I would be in favor of not allowing right-clicking on the pics. That would probably deter most people who just want to quickly copy/save a photo. If they have to go though the trouble of taking a screenshot and cropping it and everything, I think they would be less likely to do it.

As far as the automatic watermarking through vB, wouldn't be a bad idea. However for the people who are already putting watermarks on their photos, that may mess up the photo too much. Maybe it could be an optional thing when you upload?

Donating members (bronze, silver, gold) can delete their own photos from their galleries. Otherwise you have to PM a mod. You can PM me if you want

Yeah but if you were really hard up for a picture you could just do a screen capture and crop the photo out that way.

Burns Can you guys figure out how to get it to add to all the uploads automatically? I can only see how you have to do it individually one by one.

Kpablo Hey, I watermarked one photo on photobucket that was alread uploaded to this site and another site, and automatically put the watermark in without having to remove and then re-upload on the forum.

So, don't delete the pictures on the forum, Burns, just watermark it on photobucket.
10-01-2009 09:34 AM
Burns I just added a link to do it in Photoshop as well.

How to watermark a photo using Photobucket or Photoshop

In light of the recent problems with photos of people's dogs being stolen and posted on other websites, please be sure you watermark all your photos before posting them or uploading them to your gallery.

Here is how to do it using Photobucket:
